While Vader did blame Obi-Wan for causing him to be permanently crippled, he also blamed himself for killing Padme, and entered a long period of self-hate while serving the Emperor.
Vader actually hated himself the most.He despised himself all along. He hated Obi-one the most, and hated himself even more than Obi.Constantly hating himself made him so strong in the dark side.
I think that Anakin/Darth Vader are one of the most complex characters ever to be written. His need to be the best Jedi, his pride and his love for his mother and Padme all brought about his descent into the dark side. While the things he did were horrific they are understandable from his thoughts and views. He was fighting his past to control the future. I think most of us can relate. Suffering serious losses change a person. I think the losses Anakin suffered were too much for him to bear. Some people said there was no need for the prequels since we already knew that Anakin would turn to the dark side. I disagree. Knowing it and seeing it are two different things. Thanks as always for another great video!
This has and will always be my view point too. His story makes me sad, it’s a good lesson. It’s important for people to remember his losses, and also having the weight and pressure of being “the chosen one” placed on him as a child, then fighting the entire clone wars, accumulating trauma and injuries, caring deeply for those around him, and occasionally being betrayed by them, it’s easy to see the complexity of his state of mine in ROTS.
Yesss he relives the "What I could have done" in his head alot...He thinks he failed Ahsoka and failed to save Padme and hates himself...He also sees council another reason how he ended up how he did..
He knew what and who the Sith were/are that he even ignited his lightsaber toward Senator Palpatine ready to confront him after the revelation of being a Sith Lord. His conflict was always about love. Love for his mother and Padme. What drew him toward the dark side was fear. Fear of losing both and his position within the Order if the Jedi found out he broke the code while keeping his rendezvous with Padme a secret from them. What sealed his fate as a fallen Jedi/Sith was losing his anger over not being able to help both his mother and Padme knowing he probably could have done so as a Force user. This was where his anger toward the Jedi fueled by his conflict over trying to uphold the tenant of withholding attachments WHILE trying to keep his attachments over Padme a secret. Sidious used this to drive him further away from the Jedi. But it was Sidious' false promise of bringing the dead back to life as a "Sith power" was where he ultimately threw another attachment toward Sidious as a necessity for him in order to save Padme. So you have conflict-->attachment-->fear-->anger all cycled within a loop for his character that it boiled over. I believe he was trying to do what was best, but a combination of Sidious manipulating him topped with trying to walk in egg shells around.the Jedi over what he was feeling did him in. Moral of the story is you communicate and talk to someone with the Jedi over what he was going through. Even if it meant losing his position. But in all honesty, and looking back in hindsight, the Jedi would not let.him go knowing he was destined to bring balance. At this point, we can only speculate what ifs...What if Yoda looked over him....or a combination of all the Masters within the Council taking turns counseling him while being trained under Kenobi....or what if Qui Gon survived.and.trained him.instead...
There were definite signs he did .His remarks to Luke implied that in their first meeting in ROTJ.He did bring balance from a certain point of view.Fatherind Luke did bring balance eventually.
The book also has a scene where Palpatine tells him that the vacuum left by the choices he'd made would in time be filled by power. And when he said that vader felt a co-mingling of sadness, regret, and anger. Or something like that. The book Lords of the Sith also has a lot of great insight into Vader's mindset.
Hey mate. I really love watching a combination of the Clone Wars TV show as well as your video to calm myself down and get cozy at night and I was wondering if you were interested in covering more stories about the Clone Wars era. Not sure how much literature exists about that era as I never really had any star wars books apart from encyclopaedias.
Did Vader regret turning to the dark side? Lets see. He lost his wife He lost his best friend He lost his adopted family He lost all for limbs He lost his skin He lost his ability to breathe He lost his ability to reproduce with a woman He lost his ability to sleep normally He lost most of his connection with the force He is in pain *Constantly* So yeah I would say all in all not his best choice
I believe he hated himself more than he hated Obi-Wan, Palpatine, or the Jedi. Cause even after going through all that pain to save his wife, it was by his own hand that she died.
I need to read or listen to "The Rise&Fall of Vader..I finally got arouhd to reading Matthew Stovers ROTS Novelisation last week and WOW...I ❤ the film but the book was something else and quite possibly the best SW contentl I've read hands Down !
Yes, I do believe Vader did regret his choices down the line. Although losing to Obi-Wan and dealing with Padme's death was pure rage fuel. Revenge and hate was what kept him going, but i believe Anakin was still deep down in there somewhere. As time past Vader most likely reflected and felt regret heavily at times. Until redemption from his son Luke Skywalker.
I think Vader believed he was still the chosen one. He was just basically blaming eryone else for his decisions. He still figured he was the chosen one and they all should have trusted his wisdom
Even though he was old enough to understand right from wrong the poor choices he made were born out of arrogance that he and he alone could fix everything through the Dark Side. He is right about one thing Anakin was killed by his own poor choice on Corassaunt or nearly killed. But even then he was Anakin and.the Chosen one who still wanted to blame others for.his misery and his fall from grace. instead of owning up to them himself. Namely his wife and Obi wan. Only in death he finally own up to what he had done. Thus becoming a True Master if the Force
Yeah , but he was manipulated too quickly by sidious, but legend said it was darth plagueis who created anakin b y using shmi skywalker as an. Experiment to create life but not to save the ones that he don’t love so basically anakin is the heir of plagueis , and shmi faked about anakin having no father when qui gon first appeared and asked her
Vader had an enormous talent for blaming everyone but himself. He was a forever teenager.
Anakin was like that.. not Vader
While Vader did blame Obi-Wan for causing him to be permanently crippled, he also blamed himself for killing Padme, and entered a long period of self-hate while serving the Emperor.
@@Tanat83he was tricked into believing he did kill her, only when he was told he had children was when he found the truth
Vader actually hated himself the most.He despised himself all along. He hated Obi-one the most, and hated himself even more than Obi.Constantly hating himself made him so strong in the dark side.
But Vader do have a weakness

Agreed, in both Legends and Canon he is a fascinating read.

He's afraid of lose & in the end he lost it all because he's a narcissist. There's nothing complex about him. It's always been about him. Me, me, me.

Of course he did. And after all of it the biggest kick in the balls is he knows the guy who manipulated him and made it all happen is all he has left.

Was really messed up anakin never knew , if he knew he would consider qui gon as his father

You should try Order 66. Maybe the finest book written about the last days of the republic.

Did Palpatine bring Peace to the Galaxie ?
Yep, he did
He was right. Jedi council were so corrupted. They got what they deserved.
Not corrupted, just arrogant and prideful. They needed to be reborn
