And when the world needed them most, they vanished 😢 here’s to hoping a new one comes out soon, I love this series 🍻
the others are on the Live tab at the main channel. it's up to ep 13 as of the comment being posted
Good news brotha- they’re backkkk 🎉
Seeing them after they’ve come back brings me peace 😤
I like the series but I think they should have a Catholic guest they have a lot of questions about the church
Good news!
If you make a "hidden among the stuff" shirt, you gotta hide a little king/stick figure in the word stuff
I really wish Weird Bible was on Spotify. I'd love to be able to download these and listen to them offline.
I just wanted to write this but I've been in a super dark place recently & I consider myself a Nihilist but listening to you guys talk & laugh about all this stuff going on in the Bible has soothed my mind. My parents never went to Church when I was growing up, so I was never exposed to any sort of religious teachings or what have you but having you guys talk about it so much, I feel like I'm finally beginning to understand all the good having faith can bring. I don't think I'll ever be able to convert but just learning about all this biblical stuff over the past couple of weeks has really done a lot for my mental health. I love listening to you guys talk & it makes these 4 walls less empty. So even as a person of no faith, thank you for making this podcast
You have no idea of how much God truly loves you, friend.
Amen brother let him know @@disco8301
Having someone summarize the Good Book in a modern language helps so much. The Good Book really is a schematic on human nature, if you wanted to be pragmatic.
Hope you're doing better nowadays man :]
Hope you are able to find your way into the light. It is a great comfort in our lives to know the truth, that all our struggles and sufferings are part of the plan, refining us. I remember a verse I read last night. "8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
Hopefully this verse means something to you.
And I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend you to read the book of Ecclesiastes, maybe the New Living Translation would be very approachable for someone as you, a nihilist. This would be the one book that may really draw you into God's light.
Bless, peace be with you.
"And Samuel hewed Agag to pieces before the LORD at Gilgal" was one of my dad's favorite verses.
I'm sure he's up there and has told Samuel what a fan he is of his work.

On the little note of the use of "corn" when Jesse was sending David with grain, "corn" has an older somewhat defunct meaning of being a synonym for "grain". Remnants of it remain in such terms as "peppercorns" and "corned beef". Peppercorns can also be called "pepper grains" and corned beef is salts with salt _grains_ . This is a point I learned after reading the backstory for lembas in Tolkien, where it used "corn" to refer where the flour for lembas originated. It is just modern usage of the word has shifted so we now use it specifically for maize.
Very interesting!
This drove me crazy reading the Decline and Fall, since it was written before widespread consumption of maize, and talked about "corn" in the context of ancient Rome quite a bit. Where did you source the explanation? I never could find a good text on how the meaning changed.
@blurqeqoherds I think I specifically found the explanation in something that was talking about Lembas from Tolkien. I don't recall the exact place because that discovery would have happened circa 2004.
A general study of middle and early modern English will reveal that corn used to simply be a general term for grain. The use of the word shifting to primarily refer to Maize is also interestingly a primarily English phenomenon and doesn't occur in other European languages. That probably implies that the cause is the prominence of maize(corn) in north America agriculture
This podcast is incredibly under rated.
My dad always said to find a Church that teaches the Bible. One that is grounded in The Word and not the world is so important. I’m blessed to have found one that is not so much about religious practice but about Jesus, Truth and biblical foundation.
George Castanza as Samuel, Jerry as Saul. Kramer as god

You guys have to put "this has got to be blasphemy...right?" On a shirt. I would so buy that right along side "saul hath hidden himself amongst the stuff"
Damn this podcast has converted more people than most pastors I know
Sorry for the second one, but just wanted to say if you guys were to ever want to discuss mormonism, I grew up in the Mormon faith, and am still a member and would love to answer questions and just talk about it in general with you two. You both are amazing people and respectful yet critical about topics, and I would love to learn from you both.
Omg...the "3-5 children" joke was a good one. Took me a second 😂😂 Loooooorreeee!
I reference to the "stuff" shirt my german club in high school had a shirt that said "Etwas means something in German" Etwas literally means something
I love this podcast, I listen to it constantly! It’s really helped me to explore my faith and had only strengthened it!
No Way I Missed It!! Glad Theres A Whole Channel Now!
I really appreciated Isaiah's aside on predestination vs free will (and I'm biased, I also fall into the "yes, to both" camp) and I want to come full circle on a thought I _think_ he was implying but didn't outright state. God decided in His own plan to bring a Messiah into the world, and then, even though human kings weren't His original plan for the nation of Israel, He decided to incorporate that into the Messianic plan and the Messiah ended up coming out of Israel's line of kings. So, furthermore, I think we can assume the Messiah would've come from Saul's line if he hadn't failed to seek God and repent in his kingship. Saul went his own way, so God just raised up a different king from which the Messiah would be desceended. This story is a _great_ example of the answer to the free will debate, because in two separate instances, something God intended to do in His overall plan _was_ accomplished, but humans had a level of individual choice regarding the finer details. It almost makes this whole concept something I can wrap my mind around.
I don't believe God's omniscience would require predestination. You can say God knows everything that will happen without saying he planned it from the beginning. That's my take on it anyway.
A little context on Benjamin, by the way, though you may get to it.
At the end of Judges there was basically a civil war between the tribes when there was absolute depravity going on in Benjamin, very similar to the story of Lot on Sodom and Gomorrah (Judges as a book is a history of Israel's spiral into sin and depravity), and so the tribe was almost completely wiped out.
They were truly the smallest tribe because the others nearly destroyed them all.
You don't mean Ephraim?
@@drworm5007 no, it's Benjamin. Context goes from the story in Judges 19, and runs to the end of the book in chapter 21
Wondering if this could be an episode for Weird Bible at some point-
binging through 1-2 Kings, noticing in 2nd kings 22ish, Josiah's tragic reign as king in Judah.
Is there a positive message to be spoken of the king that desperately tried to serve the Lord in spite of the Doom proclaimed over them By God due to Manasseh?
It seems fairly relevant to modern times that in spite of a fallen world Christians are called to serve unto death the God (Jesus) who has proclaimed doom to the world and salavation to His remnent.
Love you guys, awesome channels the both of you. Great podcast, this has definitely helped me return to my faith, but not to a specific church yet.
Curious to hear what you guys think about this theory i came to from my own studying, that is that the devil does not tempt us but merely gains possession of us by our own choosing to leave god, and it is actually servants of god who test us to find where we need help most before we die?
This whole theory is based around the fact that Samael is a being commonly referenced, whenever he is, as being synonymous with the devil. However I found his oldest description to be from the Talmudic tradition of Rabbinic Judaism; where he is claimed to be satan in the story of job, and the angel of death from the plagues in egypt.
Ya boi Wendigoon is finally legally spoken-for.
Can someone please keep an eye on shoe0nHead to make sure she doesn't do anything drastic.
She has me blocked on Twitter and I have never once interacted with her but I would not be shocked if she’s into Isaiah

The "stuff" is actually militaristic inventory. That's what I was taught in seminary at least.
I'd rather just call it "stuff" though. LoL
I've heard it referred to as "baggage", is military baggage what they meant?
@@strawbbtarteI've also seen it translated as equipment so it makes sense that it could be military stuff. Although I havent read the whole thing for context
@@strawbbtartethat would make sense. A lot of militaries had large baggage trains with all sorts of things. Tools, tents, shovels, picks, cookware, and so on. So that could definitely be just "stuff".
Some thoughts: The tribe of Judah was chosen to be the "Royal" tribe, from which all kings would come out of. By choosing a "Benjamite," was God setting up Saul to be a failure? Also, every great leader of Israel was a shepherd first, Saul was a cattleman. A Cattleman 'drives' the Cattle, a Shepherd 'calls' and leads the sheep.
Huh interesting thought 🤔🤔
as the podcast said- God set him up as king and saw the possibilities of him for success and even told Saul to do things that would lead to him being a successful king but Saul just did not.
God didn’t exactly set him up to fail, Saul just had all the things that Gods people wanted in a King. I think it’s more accurate to say that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Any man, even a man chosen by God, is still just a man.
I think it was meant to be the dichotomy between the highest man from the lowest tribe, compared to the lowest man from the highest tribe.
Perhaps meant to also symbolize salvation, tribe meaning like heaven and hell. Like how no matter how miserable and wretched you are, if you are a believer, you're saved. But no matter how many works you do in the world, if you lack belief, you're not saved. That's my sort of thought.
Jesus says all the old testament is basically about him and the kingdom and such, so maybe it does serve as a metaphor. Saul was perhaps set up to fail, only insofar as his own desires and urges and actions led him to fail. The position of king itself wasn't inherently setting him up for failure, it was all on him.
I would take Jesus to my grandma’s. I can think of nothing better than a family meal.
A soup kitchen is a really good answer though

This is way too cool of a podcast. Will be tuning in regularly
First of all Goliath was either 6.9 or 9.9 in one of the versions he appears in as 4 cubits and a span and a second version has him at 6 cubits and a span like 2.06 meters or so. Look what u don't understand is that the sling was an awesome light and easy to make weapon that every Jewish boy would have mastered by puberty its not David who had an over-esteemed self image ... its Goliaths underestimated idea of young David that did him in that day. (Great show keep up the Good work boyz !)
An episode on Gideon would be cool
Im aware if of the fact they its incredible unlikely the boys will see this butbwanted to say anyway, i truly loved this podcast and really hope it can be continued in future as someone who studied world religions, but also grew up in a christian based society. I never catch y’all live and I’m not entirely caught up either, I’m on the second Moses video, but I just got a couple questions I don’t know where else to ask. If the Old Testament was in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek why were the sermons traditionally given in latin? I’m sorry if my terminology isn’t correct been a long time since I’ve been in the church. Also, where in the Bible does it mention the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit? I know it’s something a lot of people struggle to grasp but my struggle with it is it’s origin in the text. Feel free to wait and answer these in your next podcast or here, I just have no clue what y’all stream on or how a super chat works 😅
Not doing any more of these?

If you have ever written a story, you know that sometimes the characters just... they don't do what you want them to do. One of my friends says that this is how they see God. God is the author, & God has the power to make the character do something, but He doesn't because you have free will.
(I literally got into Skillet because they are christian. christopunk aidan mattis)
"worthy" vs "merit" is what gets me. You may never merit it, you may never earn it, but you are still worthy of God.
Tax collectors are hated because they were jewish people enforcing roman imperialism on other jews, or so I've been told. That & I've also been told that they were skimming for their own pockets.
OK BUT CONFESSION IS ACTUALLY HONESTLY HEALTHY FOR YOU it was like counselling before therapy was a thing. Instead of talking it out with a psychologist, you would talk things out with a priest. I've spoken to a roman catholic priest & he said he was OK with people going to confession less because they had therapy instead.
(I keep editing my comment now but I should just LISTEN like I was doing in the first half)
Many churches do not accept you or I, but studying at home is a closer & more intimate way than churches that have pageantry (which I love but yk) & structure & resentment. As a queer & FNMI catholic, the church & I have beef, but you just need to find the meaning that sounds truest to you. I started attending a church of the first peoples, populated mostly by FNMI people, & as a Métis folk catholic, it is the most welcome I've felt in a long time. The last time I went to any other church I got called a name & almost got kicked out if I hadn't already been leaving. Honestly, questioning things & losing my faith helped me to learn more & get a deeper connection. It is healthy to question things. Don't be christian because you were told to, be christian as a verb. BE christian. Choose to be christian.

About tax collectors: focus on the collector part, people who MADE you pay. Think thugs who maybe also take a bit extra for themselves. Its not quite the same stuff as what we think of today but it is fun to meme about the IRS, just keep in mind the more grounded understanding.
Are you implying that the irs isn’t just as corrupt and underhanded? The threat of force and direct thievery is exactly the same today

I know you have both talked about more weird Bible coming soon. But I wanted to ask if you could do an episode or video about something. I am a methodist, and have been having a hard time with the current separation and factionization happening within the methodist religion. Many of our religious leaders have tried to simplify it to being either you support lgbtq communities or are against them. I know this is not the entirety of it and probably isn't even most of it. I know it may be a difficult topic to cover, but I would really appreciate it if you would talk about either the reasons for the splitting and what is based in biblical fact and what is being used incorrectly, or even the more difficult topic of how lgbtq and specifically homosexuality is talked about in the Bible. It has been really hard seeing people I have known all my life just stop talking to each other and leaving the church over this and I can't tell you how much it would mean for you guys, whom I greatly respect, to help give me some answers. I understand if it isn't something you can do though.

I think they moved it to this channel. It used to be on the Lore Lodge channel as a separate playlist and is now on the new Weird Bible channel.
Does “I’m sorry, please fix me?” Count as a question?
I think the evil leaving god when saul is no longer gods chosen is saul himself being evil or perseved as evil being severed from god meaning god no longer has his evil tendency weighing on him

Guys your supposed to take Jesus fishing for lunch don't you know the stories?
Amazed that Wendigoon woukd come on your show. You two have such bad takes on everything and are pompous.
Rome of the era never persecuted jews. They absolutely did war with jews but they at no point persecuted simply because of religion. There's a reason the Roman empire listened to Judean officials about a certain guy being a dangerous blasphemer who needed crucified. The reason being once conquered Rome didnt care who you prayed to cause they beat you, their gods were viewed as by them as stronger, and that was that as far as religion went
Edit: Does Mattis really believe the "step angel i got stuck" theory?
Even then. To the Romans this kind of issue was more of "petty tribal squabbling" that they would rather brush over.
@@redline841 that too really. While the Romans were very religious and used what they perceived as their gods to help strengthen them in battle, battles themselves weren't fought over religion in that era. That came with the HRE. At the time Rome was just bidding to keep their territories (such as Judea) subservient when it came to religious conflict
Can't believe people are really that blind and ignorant to think everything from the Bible is real
