How refreshing is it to see crafted cocktails coming back. I use to bartend waaayyyy baaaccck when in San Francisco. Keep them coming. Your program made me want to go through cocktail books that I have on my shelves. Happy New Year and Peace to you and yours! C.
Another year of watching you and Julie... Greatly appreciate your videos, both here and over on Glen's Hangar. Here's to another trip around the sun, warmest wishes to you both, and all the other viewers of the channel.
Happy New Year you two beautiful people! Thanks for all your hard work producing these fantastic videos! Here's to a great 2023 for everyone! See you in the morning!
I have to convert Canadian time tonight so I don't miss anything. Julie...Glen, Jammys are non negotiable especially for you. I really want to thank you both from the bottom of my heart for entertaining us, teaching us, intriguing us and most importantly providing a place for us all to retreat for the past few years especially. The narration, editing and sound work is well done. I want to sincerely wish you both a very Healthy, Safe, and Prosperous New Year as well as all my fellow fans. See you in 2023.
We have a specific cocktail we usually serve at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the menfolk always want to come in and dribble booze and sour mix and cherries and blender parts all over my kitchen _exactly_ when I need a nice clean space most for, you know, _preparing time-sensitive parts of the holiday _*_meal!_* So this year we pre-mixed the the cocktail and served it over ice instead of doing that whole production with blendering up a slushie sort of thing. *It worked most excellently well for my sanity!* Maybe next time we'll even arrange to make some crushed ice in advance and stick it in the garage freezer, which would help a lot with the proper amount of dilution, and also not get in the way of dinner.
Jewels is such a beautiful woman. Glenn is such a handsome man. Not to harp on the looks of people but they are just such a great couple it makes me so happy to watch them both. Happy new year to all. Enjoy your night.
Hoping you had fun with the cocktails at the party. So sad I can't join you for the livestream! But have fun! And a very happy new year to you of course!
I don't drink much anymore BUT if I am invited to any parties in the future I'll be sure to bring a bottled cocktail. Thank you for the videos this year and past years too.
Happy new year. Thank you for all the wonderful recipes and tips. I have learned a lot of new things. Making the Paul Bocuse Beef Bourguignon today. Will be out of the oven in about three hours.
Happy New Year, Glen and Jules! Thank YOU for 2022 and before for all the wonderful videos you share with us. My pandemic went so much better by having your awesome channel to enjoy each week. All the best to you in 2023, see you next year...tomorrow morning 😀
I wasn't sure if Jules would show up since this was a different sort of recipe but I got so excited when I saw you pouring two glasses. I'm very glad I found this channel and happy New Years!
A LIVE video?? Awesome! I'm happy to wake up with the Rose Parade AND Glen! Looking forward. Thank you for all the positivity through the plague and keeping us in recipes and joy. Happy New Year!
Good thing you liked them. Feels like it would have been a whole lot of booze wasted if not hehe. I have most of these ingredients so I think I will give them both a try, but in a smaller form factor 😄
Happy New Year Glen & Julie. Thanks for making such great content for us this year. Alas I won't be joining your live session as it will be 2am where I am. Take care and I look forward to another year of superb food and drink videos.
You did a video where you put together something like 10 hours of you shaking a cocktail. I think it would be funny if you did the same with the clip of you stirring these two drinks. Happy New Year!
Glen, you and Julie are so fond of gin. How does someone like me who tried gin in my early 20's learn to like it 40 years later? So many of your gin cocktails look so good.
Just like me. But a couple months ago bought mini bottles of gin, a couple. Made dirty martinis with lemon slice garnish and over ice to dilute as I sipped. Enjoyed more than vodka. Then made gin and tonic another time and love it now. Go get a few mini bottles and give it a try.
@@rippermcguinn I like tequila .. but after a mardi gras in the 70s, it took me close to 8 years to drink it again. Gin did a similar number to me.. but we're friends again too.
@@rippermcguinn That's scotch for me.. years ago, when I was a bartender, one customer wanted scotch and *gag* milk. The bartender reserves the right to not mix a drink that clots - as a new rule, didn't fly.
Ah. Portable cocktails... In university we would mix portable cocktails, suitable for football games, street parties, etc. Our cocktails were much simpler however. A favorite being "Purple Jesus". Grain alcohol (80 proof perhaps) and grape Kool-Aide. Served, preferably, in a wineskin in order to take on that piquant musty leather tang. Drawbacks could be wicked hangovers, spacial disorientationor temporary blindness. Not sure anyone is familiar with that one or maybe it was just a Queen's University Engineering practice! Happy New Year to you guys. Enjoy the videos and trying some of the recipies.
Does anyone know how long a bottled cocktail with citrus or some other fresh component would last? Would the alcohol preserve the juice? Or would this be a time to use those little squeeze bottles. I imagine either way you’d still want it refrigerated.
I guess nowadays we usually get bottled or canned cocktails from purveyors of alcohol. But surely it’s better to make your own if you want guaranteed quality…
@@GlenAndFriendsCooking Interesting, I'd never have thought that bartenders tried to cater for their own enemy (the temperance activists), as well. It's not a common sight to see a RUclips comment cite their source, I trust this comment.
@@tehpanda64 More specifically it's on page 147 (the book's in the public domain so scans are available).
I swear, the comment section on all of Glenn’s videos is the best and most helpful on youtube.
I really need the sort of guests who come over with their own premade bottled cocktails. Genius idea.
I agree. The bottled ones in the stores are so disappointing.
It's a good way to use spirits that you may find less than ideal as a neat pour.

The bottled whikey cocktail is very good. I subbed Dillons Ginger Bitters for the Orange bitters. Its like a less sweet old fashioned .

Definitely familiar with this one down here in Georgia in the 70s, except we used Hi C Grape Juice instead of KoolAid.
Why "Jesus"? On account of the wineskin?

Happy new year! Wonder if the omission of water for the gin allows for it to be kept in the freezer (outside) and it would not freeze.

I wouldn't keep it for more than a week, the citrus will eventually 'turn' or become bitter.

What time is the live show tomorrow for Iowa? I want to be there!
Canada uses the same time zones as the USA.
So Sunday 10am Toronto time (10am EST). Is there a placeholder video? That helps find it. Thank you!

Did those vintage cocktail books ever include recipes for "mocktails?"
Yes - all of the pre prohibition cocktail books have chapters devoted to 'Temperance Drinks'... and we'll be doing a few for Dry / Damp January.
