Ugh, my rear axles from my donor car were seized into the hub, I took them into he press to try and press out the axle, snapped my knuckle. Now my car is like 99% done but has to stay on Jack stands untill I find them. Just spent like 4k on coilovers all new poly bushings, motormounts, solid subframe and diff bushings, carrier bearing bushings, timing belt, motor mounts, bigger fuel pump and new clutch and flywheel.
I'm just curious... but wouldn't it be way easier to just order bolts the right size and flatten the 2 sides? This seems like a lot of work for 2 bolts. Take them to auto zone and get the thread size and digital caliber the length in mm as well as the thread length and post it here for others. I love watching this awd swap, but just seems like it would be easier to sell the fwd and just use that money towards an awd if I really wanted to go that route which... eh, still can't really justify it for me since I do no track time but they are sick and your purple one is for sure one of the sickest I've ever seen.
These are heavy grade 8 or 10 bolts, can't remember. Your general parts or hardware store bolts are usually just weak grade 5, last thing you want is a bolt breaking during a 100+ mph pass. Here in the north these cars are extremely hard to come by in decent condition, look at the previous videos how badly rotted the awd shell is. Mine and my brothers GSTs were rust free and not hacked up, its much more worth to start with a solid platform.
@@jdxnc04 that makes a lot of sense i get it. Although still, I can't see it being hard to source grade 10 bolts from somewhere like mcmastercar. I think that's the name of them... but, either way, I still love this series and learning new things about dsms.. and the drooling husky lmao 🤣
Dont know if your ever gonna see this but I'm just wondering why on my 2g eclipse the turbo elbow has 3 bolts instead of 2. I'm looking into buying a down pipe but all the down pipes I see for my car only have 2 bolts.
@@jdxnc04 yea I figured the whole exhaust system has 3 bolts. It also has a thermal r&d cat back. What do you recommend should I just get a whole exhaust system plus a stock turbo elbow. I recently got this car and the guy that I bought it from didn't know what he was selling. He said the car was all stock.

Cutting wheels- for when the right tool AND the wrong tool have failed.

@@ChrisGuthrie I could get them from McMaster for sure, but being that I'm in Canada, shipping is like $30 for even a couple bolts.

Sounds like yours isn't stock.
