Can't agree. I want to see more meaningful basketball. The uncertainty of the lower spots provides more incentive for teams to not coast during the regular season too. If a change needs to be made to lower injury risk (I'm not sure it does, I think injuries are part of the story) I'd advocate shortening the regular season. The win-or-go-home games are where it's at. I don't care if it feels cruel for a team to get taken out in one game. That's sports.

I agree. I will say that we might see more exposure to injuries in a single elimination game because the refs are trying to hold back on the whistle because they don't actually want to decide a playoff spot. I think it adds more value to the higher seeds in any case which is great for competition.

@@badebaser1895 I think the increased injury risk would be because everyone's trying and putting in big effort. Of course if you're playing on the edge of your physical ability you're more likely to get hurt, but it doesn't mean I wanna settle for watching sports played in a half-assed kinda way.
In every sport that's physically demanding teams and careers get derailed by injuries, it's sad but it's reality. I personally feel 82 games of RS is obscene, and frankly more basketball than I can care about.

The only thing about that is with how the west specifically went this season, if it was no playin and just 8 seed and above that made it, that is an even bigger incentive for a team like the warriors or kings to play hard towards the end of the season to make it. Towards the end of the season there were games where the warriors would rest some guys bc they knew they had the 10 seed after they beat the rockets. and i get injuries are apart of the game but that doesn’t just mean you risk the health of guys who just played 82 games for the sake of entertainment, especially out east where the bulls and hawks did not need to be in any tournament to make the playoffs.

@@HoopSessionYT I think the "risking health just for entertainment" angle is weird. They're in the entertainment industry playing a game, at some point in the season they're playing for keeps and it's the best bit.
You make it sound callous when in reality it's just the peak competition we're all actually interested in (including the players who often look bored in the RS).

a season is already more fair than a play off set up imo (yeah I'm European) but it doesn't even compare to a single elimination game
Only thing is it's actually exiting basketball as you said and most people's won't watch the bulls trying to reach 8th seed during regular season
Nice vid, keep it going !

I feel like there should be play in games only if the lower seeds are within a certain amount of games

You don't understand that the play in saved the whole end of the season for the viewers first.

The playoffs would start right where the playin would be if it didn’t exist anymore. I don’t know if it saves the viewership but it just adds viewership

@@HoopSessionYT Dude, the last 10 games of the regular season used to be completely useless except for seeds #8 and #9 if close, now nobody feels safe and the playoffs intensity starts way sooner that it used to.

Play-in has a huge potential for unfair results. If there is a huge difference between teams in 8th and 9th spots during the season, it is not fair to decide that in a single game. This negates the whole point of the season-long effort. Play-in should be only in case of ties of very minor game differences.

    • @DeepestQuotesAnd
      @DeepestQuotesAnd 4 месяца назад

Bro the regular season is already completely useless. Teams score 130 pts/game versus 100 pts in the playoffs. Meaning no one cares to defend during 82 games.

The play-in is here to add the the exitement to the late season look at the west this season mavs, suns, pels, kings, and warriors all were busting their ass to keep themselves out of play-in same was for magic, sixers, Pacers its not about 9th and tenth seed getting a shot at playoffs its about giving the incentive to 5th, 6th and 7th seed to bust their ass of to keep themselves out of the Play-in mavs, magic and pacers wouldn't have tried that hard at the end of the season when they if it wasn't for the play-in we want meaning full basketball and play-in game gives us that not just for the 6 play-in games but for the last month of the regular season.

I’m still in support of the playin game but where there a game separation limit between the teams playing in the play-in like in 2020. so I liked it in the west this season with how close they were but in my opinion, we did not need a play-in tournament out east this season. the heat and 76ers were clearly the 7 and 8 seeds and the tournament led to Butlers injury.

I agree, it makes it more hard for teams to try and avoid matchups but more often than not team wouldn’t want to fall to 7 or 8 for matchup purposes even without the playin bc of how good the teams up top are most of the time
