A B+ is a good grade, I’m not sure why people seem to think it’s not. I also am pretty optimistic in this video about the fit, the defense was the only real thing that worries me. I even said in the video that the Kings needed to make a move and they did which is good and DeMar is an upgrade at that position.

I am aware of that Devonte Graham deal but with how little of playing time he got, it doesn’t really matter to me, still liked him as a player, especially that game when he hit the gamewinner vs Denver, but he was not someone I expected to be on the roster next year anyways

I don’t think Barnes will move the needle, but he’s solid enough for a team that just won 22 games and can bring them length and shot making at time even if inconsistent

@@HoopSessionYT the spurs got a pick swap in 2031 which they most likely they won’t have by then ! Kings were able to acquire derozan by not giving up ANY key assets and still have all the flexibility and 10M into the MLE to work with ,the kings deserved an A im a bulls fan

I’ve already said somewhere in these comments that was a mistake for sure, but it was also maybe 5 seconds worth of a 14 minute video, I’d wish you would be able to look past that one thing I said and listen to other things and not judge my entire knowledge of basketball on that one clip.

I’d say a B+ is more than decent but I do agree, DeMar for what they gave up was great value, but it’s more than what they gave up for me while grading the trade

I still think DeMar can help half of the Kings goals which is be good enough in the regular season and make the playoffs, it’s just the playoffs that worry me about DeMar and this team. He won’t win this team a championship if he’s their best player but he also needs to find a way to fit wit Fox and Sabonis. Most people in the comments seem to be saying I’m actually underrating the DeMar signing so idk anymore haha

Not crazy at all. The biggest contribution will be internal development from Wemby, Vassell, Sochan, Tre and Malaki Branham. Plus getting CP3 HB and Castle as new players is a needed boost. The only question marks on this team is Keldon and Collins both have shown to be above average players when they can be ball dominant but have so many flaws in their game as role players.

I love Keon Ellis and his defense and I mentioned Fox’s defense in the video. But Keegan Murray’s defense alone doesn’t move my opinion of the defense of the Kings personally and DeMar for sure doesn’t help any defensive needs.

Kings have never won anything. Rn is the closest thing to contention. Utilize it now before that window closes

That’s assuming wemby is still with the spurs in 7 years, stays healthy for 7 years and as a big is still affective in 7 years.. also the fact pop for sure won’t be coaching in 7 years. The kings have more talent right now that they could trade for picks on the back end later anyways. Worrying about a pick swap in 7 years is goofy. Either way you will get a pick and unless the spurs are actual title contenders by then it won’t matter. Most the titles were won with Timmy and the lost the one guy good enough to win a title in kawhi. Just cause the spurs had an era of David and Timmy doesn’t mean the spurs are always going to be good and besides that era they don’t really have a history of being great… the main cog of that era is 75 years old….kings have also only had a handful of top 3 picks ever and basically besides the Marvin pick have all been in the 70’s or later when they were not even in sac

I agree, I believe I said that exact thing in the video at one point, but I do think he’ll be better with the Spurs with less pressure on him but also him wanting to prove a point going into his last year of his contract after next season. I also don’t want to fully judge my thoughts on Barnes off only last year. Fair point to bring up his below average year tho, but the Spurs getting him free is great value imo.

I’m not saying Barnes is the best player in the deal, but factoring in everything, I’d still grade the Kings side lower than the Spurs, but DeMar is obviously the best player in the deal still.

@Sassarai916 Well for the Spurs, they gave up nothing in this deal and got a valuable pick for trade, continuing to stack up their draft capital, and get a vet who plays the exact position they need while on a decent contract. For the Kings, I still like DeMar on the team for the regular season but for what the Kings want to do, which is have playoff success, I have a hard time believing DeMar will help this team in the playoffs. He’s never been known as a playoff riser, if anything, it’s been the opposite in his career. I still like the contract and they didn’t give up that much so I still like it for Sacramento.

@HoopSessionYT this team took the warriors to a 7 game series and ended their dynasty in the play in. They certainly not getting worse by adding demar. Plus kings didn't give up much and can still bring in another good player. While spurs might get a good draft pick and a mentor, it's just not as impactful.

Agreed, the DeRozan contract will more than likely age much better than the George contract

i am really interested in seeing how a team with sub par shooting but great talent like sac now stands up to the competition

I really like Keon Ellis and also Devin Carter off yalls bench defensively, I personally just don’t know if I can trust the starting 5 defensively going into next season. I do think Fox has raised his defense as well and Murray too but DeMar on the starting 5 does worry me a bit but if Sacramento can be the 12th best defense or around that, Kings should be real good with the high power offense they’ll have.

@@HoopSessionYTkeon ellis is one of the youngins mike brown is really invested in alongsides keegan. They both will be starting, and monk will most likely come in from the bench as a spark plug. Im a spurs fan, but there is a reason why these sac town fans love him; gritty, plays defense and can make shots. He will be a great piece for them in the near future

I think the defensive culture of the Spurs going into next year will make Barnes tap back into that guy he was 2 years ago defensively imo. I feel like he has something to prove in a way and I think that could really help out the Spurs, that’s one reason why I’m still a fan of the pickup.

I was very close to giving them a higher grade but it’s hard imo to do that without knowing for sure what their direction is. I’m hoping they didn’t just do this because they needed to, but definitely not a bad return like you said tho.

Definitely not an elite defender but can help out on that side of the floor especially in a defensive culture imo.

Barnes value is in the locker room, with a dash of three point shooting. He's a good dude, and a pro's pro, but 21.7 Mil??? The DeRozan swap for a couple second rounders and a five year pick swap that could be useless.... please that's a fleecing if I have ever seen one for Sacramento, even if the fit doesn't pan out because DeRozan can be moved at the break for value. It's win win for Sac. Now all Sacramento has to do is pick up a decent 3/D with length at the 4/5 and they are set for a multi-year run in the West with good young talent on the roster (Keegan, Ellis, and Carter). It's not a bad trade for the Spurs but and A....LOL, no.

Well, sorry you’re expectations weren’t met but I’d like to point out that I didn’t say I wouldn’t cover the insignificant signings, I said I wouldn’t cover them as long as some other signings. Yeah on paper it looks good but a Ingram trade can even out the roster a bit more and make them have less ball dominant guys.

This draft doesn’t have the top end talent like we’ve seem in some drafts like last year, but I personally think this draft is incredibly deep leaving the door open for teams in the 15-25 range to get steals

In my eyes, Castle can play the 1-3 so he could play that forward spot especially if the playmaking isnt where you want it to be out the gates
