I think you might be right! Wes' gf seems really successful and independent, she had own thing going on. And I actually interpreted Phil's as girls who sees you for who you are, instead of how you look physically (because Tarzan was basically an ape and didn't know how to speak until later, and Belle fell in love with a beast). And it would make sense because Phil is sensitive to his emotions kind of guy.
She's the first Disney princess that deviate from the usual stereotype of big eyes n cute face. But she was so smart n unique. The soundtrack of the movie was good too.
Wes is so reserved but then he just keeps blurting out how he likes so and so after listening quietly he, is just so cute! I want to hug him for a good fifteen minutes and then let go. SO cute.

When I was in kindergarten I remember plying princesses and I still turn into a huge singing nerd in public if a Disney song starts playing. ☺️ When I was in high school and Mulan came out I was like, "Yes!" Because she represented all these contradictions, she was strong and amazing! Being a tomboy I totally idealized her! And The sisters in Frozen, well dang they are so like my sis and I it's scary!
