    So the Russians became Orthodox coz they were elevated to the Heavens when they heard Chanting in Agia Sofia? So what happened? Substituting music put by our fathers that elevate the soul and makes pascha what it is, to something put by regular people?

      I'm so confused? This is based on the znammeny chant, which is the slavicized version of byzantine chant. Just natural changes which happened over long periods of time. Its quite beautiful and absolutely canonical.

      additionally, in many Russian churches the icon wall goes to the ceiling, these aren't theological differences, they are stylistic.

      There is a huge difference between Polyphonic and Mono tones. Going all the way up to the ceiling doesn't make much if difference Unless they are Western Style and Not Byzantine!
