This chant always gets me, the joy and celebration, but also layers with the pain and suffering it took to get to pascha. Pain and suffering but overcome it due to the cross and we celebrate because of it. I’m not crying, well maybe I am

I have been in both of those jurisdictions myself, and my quest eventually landed me in Orthodoxy. I can honestly say that the music is much better in the Orthodox confession... it has to be, because the entire service is sung (with the exception of the homily.) The music is good and the choirs are good. No happy-clappy "contemporary" music in Orthodox churches.

Tara Hutchinson Hi, Tara. No matter how beautiful this hymn is, there is a well known problem with english language, as it is simply too poor in sensitive nuances and words to express satisfactorily such mystical masterpieces such as this one is. That is why, in my opinion, the Orthodox Christianity will never grow its roots in the english-speaking west. It simply sounds too much protestanty (to express it properly) when translated into the common english vocabulary, so basically to an english speaker there is nothing new here. But....when you listen to the same hymns (or read Holy Fathers) in say arabic, greek or slavonic, or even latin, it's a whole different world. As if certain civilizations are simply not programmed or tuned to accept and understand the Orthodoxy (as if only a small no. of individuals within these civilizations is blessed with that light to FEEL and understand the Orthodoxy). If you are one of them, I truly wish you never to recede, but to keep climbing up the (spiritual) ladders all the way to the top!
I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Orthodoxy is a faith for all peoples, and all tongues. To say that the Church can be limited by something like language is opposite to Christ's own words when he promised that not even the gates of hell would prevail against her. On Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles, the people around them heard their preaching in their own language, easily understandable, and not some higher tongue full of "sensitive nuance". When I listen to the same hymns in Greek, Slavonic, or Latin I hear unintelligible gibberish. English is far more useful to me than a language I have never learned to speak. Call to mind the missionaries and isoapostles who, in the process of spreading the gospel to faraway lands, in monumental labours of love, learned the languages of the people and translated the scriptures and divine services. Did they waste their time on words and phrases that would never hold as much meaning? Certainly not! The message of the risen Christ is proclaimed to all nations and peoples and in all languages.
As Forgiveness Sunday is this weekend, this video just smote me this morning, brining me to tears. Y'know the joyful sorrow kind? The kind that feels one's own sin and God's grace at the same time? Very needed. I just watched a video of Ukrainian old ladies getting pushed around and hit as a schismatic nationalist 'priest' steals their temple from them. Just awful. As wax melts before the fire and as smoke vanishes... Lord have mercy. Bless you all.

Christopher Wiggins praying involves , praising god , repenting , forgiving others and asking for what u need , I personally don’t know what u are doing🤥🤥
Christopher Wiggins we obviously sing songs and give glory to god , and I don’t think a catholic who is fooled severely can tell me I cannot go far because only born again believers will go to heaven and not those who pray to Mary and worship idols

this Russian type of chanting this nothing compared to the glory of the byzantine chant it have power in it
You're entitled to your opinion, but I say if it glorifies God, you shouldn't put it down.
Those of us who grew up with Western (non-Byzantine) chant/music prefer what St. Mary's Orthodox Church presents.
