    UPDATE: I'm Kristi and I am the woman in this video that Tim did when I first got the truck. I've come to post some updates for you, but most importantly for those considering buying one of these trucks. Think twice and hard because they are pieces of garbage! I wish I could tell you I love it, but I don't. 👎I have had more problems than you can count. In the last two weeks my doors wouldn't shut and today I got stuck on the lift. A month ago I had to have the doors welded in a couple of places and today I got stuck on the lift going into the truck. It was very warm and humid today, but lucky I was not home alone or that could be very dangerous. Was able to get off the lift with the help of my father and a hoyer lift into another chair. Thankfully I have a friend that knows these trucks and he was able to help us get the lift down and get my other chair off. When we called ATC about the broken welds they didn't give a crap. Didn't tell us how to fix it, who could fix it, etc. Other than yep, it's a broken weld....AND???? ⁉Crickets. And no one picks up the phone at ATC so you have to leave a message and WAIT for them to call you back. No after hours number so you are screwed if this happens on a weekend or at night. I am scared to drive this truck anymore because it is always something. Right now it looks like I am going to have to replace another pump (this will be my second one) because it's empty and spewed hyrdraulic fluid everywhere. I looked ALL OVER ATCs website to find out what kind of hydraulic fluid it needs and it wasn't listed anywhere. Don't you think that should be on the website? 🤔 Nor do they have a manual that tells you how to fix any problems it may have. It is the worst manual ever. It's basically useless. Toliet paper. I tried posting photos of my broken welds on the moderated ATC Facebook Group - TWICE! My posts were read by a moderator, never posted. 😠I am guessing they didn't want people seeing it. Shameful and so very irritating. I wanted to know if others had similar issues. The things is --- I have had a lot people tell me they see me on this video or the one that went viral on tiktok. ATC uses this video on their website to promote business and they definitly liked the attention it got on tiktok, even commented on it. When it makes them look good they are all about responding, but when there is an issue they don't want to. The concept of the truck is great, using cheap parts for people that are disabled and can't get to said places to fix is not right. I know am not the only one that has been left stranded and won't be the last. These problems should not be happening. We trust you to make something safe and reliable. What is it going to take for you to use better parts? Someone dying because they were left stranded in the elments because their truck broke down yet again. My truck is four years old. It's not like I am driving a beater and I am a pavement princess so I baby this truck and keep it maintained. BE BETTER ATC!!! Before some gets hurt or worse. If you want to know more you can contact me.

      BraunAbility is the best conversions. You can do rear or side entry, side entry is nice because ramp slides under the car when not in use. Also, you can do transfer drivers seat. Essentially you would get in the car through the side or rear, and then you can transfer easily into drivers seat since the drivers seat can rotate. I hope this helps, and best of luck to you.

      @pali4ever778 I can't tell if Braun does a truck conversion. They are the cream of the crop when it comes to converting though.

      @@MelissaMcGuire-d7h they are! and I agree, not sure about trucks...although im sure eventually they will. I have seen suv's. They have done it on the ford explorer and the chevy traverse. And of course vans..

    That is pretty damn awesome. When people bitch about people getting trucks for just daily driving, this is a great example of why trucks work as daily commuters. They are extremely versatile and in this case with the double doors it is easily modified and a much better choice than a family van imo....

    I'm a 6ft C6 Quadriplegic I had to get a whole new power wheelchair to be able to get into a 2022 2500HD 4x4 Diesel Silverado. I would want the truck with the smallest lift platform 😩.

    • @bobfishnut
      @bobfishnut Год назад

      Yes the Allison 10 speed transmission on the diesel is too large for many power wheelchair users like me. I went with the gas engine 6.6 liter with the 6 speed transmission and love my 2020 GMC SIERRA 2500HD!

    That is a really cool truck! It's amazing the way they are able to modify trucks like that! One thing I was curious about is safety. Without the B pillar it seems like the cab would be more susceptible to crushing in a small front overlap test. Also with the frame being notched on the driver side, it would seem like that would affect safety from a crash test perspective as well as towing and payload capacity. Did they have to make any particular modifications to the truck to retain it's safety ratings?

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  4 года назад +2

      Yes, there are several PDFs on their website related to safety and how they overcame the reduction in safety.

      I think Kristi's choice in selecting the truck built on framed chassis at that height, has already addressed most of those concerns, except rollover.

    Never have cared for GoFundMe. Tried raising money to help with medical bills etc since I lost my job because I’m disabled. GoFundMe “lost” the money. Ended up having my truck repossessed, now we’re on the verge of losing our house and our only other vehicle and having utilities shut off. Hopefully she doesn’t have the same issue. She seems like a wonderful person. Being in a wheelchair myself, I miss my truck and wish I still had it. Minivans aren’t bad, but trucks are awesome.

  • @AwesomeProjects20

    This rig is amazing. What about pinching hazards for kids in the back seat? Partially the seat behind the driver? Is there a obstruction sensor like in the minivans?

      Most us individuals with disabilities can't have children. I had mine before my disabilities and over the years we been pushed completely put of the full size conversion van market into minivans. I've had my GMC Sierra 2500HD since late 2019 and love it! ATC has been awesome and tue hydraulic system nearly flawless. 35,000 miles now and performance is far superior than previous other out of business companies. The 2020 models have added leg room to answer the children concern/question. I'm not aware of any safety system. Sometimes if something falls onto the area or pathway the platform simply won't close coke completely inside and the door won't close until the obstruction is removed.

    I dont want a minivan.... i want a truck for sure. Too bad ive never seen a ram adapted.... but hydrologics do go wrong, its just less likely, we had a hydrologic ramp in a van when i was a kid and it always crapped out. Luckily, my father worked in hydrologics so it was easily fixed.
    Im curious about b pillar, is there less strength?

    What’s terrible about America, and as a DVET is we have to pay out of pocket for all the mods…in many European countries especially England, it’s all free, but they don’t allow ppl with bad knees or a old football injury or based on age qualify for disability and European countries and again specially England it’s extremely difficult to qualify for disability about as hard as it is to get a gun..you have to be wheelchair bound to say your disabled or your mentally handicapped, but they provide free housing cars equipment everything, and they don’t have the fraud we have in the USA EITHER..too many ambulatory (walking for medically uneducated,lol) take advantage of our disability, I’ve seen kids with a broken leg claiming they are disabled , nope if you can walk you shouldn’t ever get disability period ( mental or brain injuries aside.) I’m a Dvet and I don’t think most PTSD cases should qualify for disability either I’m sorry, and yes I know it can be hard, but 99.9% can work, walk workout jog,and swim etc…I’ve got PTSD and just because I had nightmares ,cars back firing made me jump, got dizzy felt like the walls were coming in on me when I got into crowded areas or grocery lines, but getting a service dog helps with that..you shouldn’t get a parking permit for PTSD but again 99.9 do, it’s wrong..if you can walk around a mall all day ,or Walmart for 3 hrs you don’t need to park in handicapped perking..it’s wrong..there needs to be different levels, we yes have 10%,-100% disability from the military but too many vets push and push just to get that free money, they should all get free healthcare ,and some should get benefits if they can not work, but they need to be to the point even a normal conversation is too much to handle, I’m sorry if it pisses off some..but as a DVET crippled from just below the neck, I see things differently now..I’ve had ppl cuss, and spit at me for wanting to use the handicap spot that they didn’t want to give up just so they don’t have to walk in the parking lot at night time to go to the movies, …anyway cool truck..but we shouldn’t have to pay to outfit our cars vans and trucks, ..
