In this episode, Past Ang heads out from Two Wheels of Suches, congratulates himself for being better about not missing so many turns, realizes the dog from Dolly’s song is named Andy (which we discovered 4 episodes ago), wonders about the slang term “rizz,” still can’t remember Jim Jone’s name because of the band Brian Jonestown Massacre, feels guilty about taking a Monday off to ride (but really doesn’t), expresses his love of Mosko Moto gear, makes a decision to tackle Charlie’s Creek, discusses the inability of the American education system to produce educated humans, ruminates on the complexity of the Thai language, and in the next episode we’ll end this run of the SM500…
Special thanks to Andy Simmons for developing this route. Get gpx files and tons of other info at the FB page:

Hey again. That was volunteering at Barber's Motorsports for many different venues, Indy of Alabama, MotoAmerica, vintage days and Historics races. Look on line. There are SO MANY roads in N Georgia, N Carolina, Tennessee!! I found most of the roads on DeLorme atlases sitting in the Deals Gap Dragon Cafe drinking free coffee from my Gap coffee cup! Call out to Kawasaki Triples two strokes group!! I copied your maps from ur trips NW Ashland on to my Garmin Map planner as well👍. Retired enlisted USAF 22yrs, conversation 5 languages, the term "ugly american" was earned by those that refused to learn to speak the language of the country we served in.

In lieu of the tape use soda can aluminum rolled around the pipe as needed to build up the metal to make the clamp fit.

I grew up in Canada across the river from Detroit. My Dad worked in Detroit and before Canada moved to the metric system he had to do some gas math. Canada was on the British gallon which was bigger than the American gallon and then work out the exchange rate to figure out which side of the border he'd fill up in. He gave up after implementation of the metric system.

Rev. Jim jones. Guyana. Still have my himi but this weekend I looked at a used Africa twin. Ktm 790 made in China for what that’s worth. Still thinking about a transalp pretty hard cb 500x. The thing is Honda has a bullet proof motor. Looked at the 300 rally and L model. The himi has a cool look and it seems to get the job done. Also I still have my Harley bagger. Could the transalp take the place of both my bikes? Idk. I’m all over the place dude. Haha. Almost 60 and best to crap. I’ve got a lot of good stories from my past injuries. Some work and mostly having “fun”. If I could replace all the effected joints I’d do it all over again except a trials bike 5mph crash. It was a bad one. Crazy huh? Thanks for the video and. Talley hoe?

Bonjour, Ang. When my partner, Leslie and I go out riding for fun - she has her own bike - we have a rule: whenever we come across any road named, "Creek Road," we always take it. Never let us down as to a tres bien ride. Au revoir.

When I was in 5th grade in '75 metrics wasn't on the curriculum ....they were teaching use in science , the planet was cooling and we were heading for an ice age 😳 🤷‍♂️ 👌

Exactly...the coming ice age. One advantage of age, we got to see the evolution of the climate change fears, from one extreme to another. Just like pushing the metric system...ain't done it yet. Wish they would follow through on the time change thing, pick one or the other.😁

Seems like it takes me a week to adjust to the time change these days ☹️....... you're right , just pick one already

I'm only about halfway in, so perhaps all will be revealed regarding the creek crossing.
But yes, provided you keep the bike running, no water will enter the exhaust.
    Should you stall it, however....
Thanks. Best part of a Sunday morning is carving out time for your ever amusing musings.

The thing that those cultures who pick up languages do differently is use those languages. They find ways to use them. No amount of book learning will get a new language into your head like using them. Language clubs, talking to foreigners, etc

I think we should change our number system to base 8. Now that makes way more sense the base 10. I believe that the first aliens to visit earth will have 8 fingers. They will develop digital technology quickly because they started with base 8 leading to a better understanding of math. Then, as long as they didn’t blow themselves up in a nuclear war, yet are still able to develop interstellar travel they may also have enough of a sense of humor to visit the Wack-a-doodle hairless, apes, known as Florida man.

Great video. Trucks that have snorkels, didn't have snorkels in their exhaust. As long as the engine doesn't stop you are good.

You can come and practice your French in Quebec! If worst comes to worst, you can always speak English! We kinda are all bilingual! Bienvenue au Québec! And we use the metric system! And those american recipes that use cups that are 160ml while ours are 250ml (that makes for hard bread!)

When I went to Europe to wrench for a rider at a supercross in Britain.... Me and the team manager struggled to understand each other , and we both spoke English . But my southern red neck and his hardcore British accent were almost two completely different languages 😳🤷‍♂️

It is difficult to say "American Education System" like it's a monolith, but it's not. Each state and then each district can do their own thing. Teachers are some of the lowest paid "professionals" Finland decided to have a top notch system so they started paying wages that equaled other professions and then recruited the best people available and provided them with the best training. As to foreign language, my daughter minored in Spanish, then went to Spain for a study abroad. She was gobsmacked. The school that hosted her gave the student about three weeks of extra training and she quickly adjusted. I think your have to be immersed to really get the language.Europeans are exposed to multiple languages in daily life. Many of the eastern countries have to function in English for business purposes.
