    I find it funny that the actual chorus, the part the people really associate with Pomp and Circumstance, doesn’t start until almost two minutes in. But the intro is the best part if you ask me.

      This piece follows the march and trio form. The "intro" you speak of is the march and the "chorus" is the trio. The famous section is more of a secondary melody in the context of the piece.

      Andrea Dobetti it’s literally labeled as trio if you look at the score

      I agree, I love the low reeds, horns, low brass, and low strings at 0:29

      The same with 1812 overture. Everyone knows the ending. Imo, the beginning and middle is the best

      @@jtgd Just because it's the best doesn't mean everyone must know it. What everyone knows, it's the better. What good is "being good" if nobody knows you?

    01:55 "The Throne Room" theme from Star Wars, A New Hope, 1977 is very similar. Edward Elgard was a strong inspiration in the music of John Williams. In particular for the soundtrack of this movie.

    • @btf_flotsam478
      @btf_flotsam478 2 года назад +3

      Holst also inspired John Williams. To be fair, I think it's more accurate to say he was influenced by classical music in general.

    One of the hardest pieces I have played. Not because the notes are hard, but because it is fast, though tenor clef on the cello is a bit trickier, since we are normally in bass clef. Difficulties aside, it's an amazing song.

    • @Metamario68
      @Metamario68 5 лет назад +5

      Tenor clef is if bass clef and Bb instruments had a baby. Because the notes are positioned as if they're for clarinet but the key signature looks like it would for a bass clef (or C) instrument. Hope my weird reasoning makes sense😂

    Elgar a genius of music composition! To write for just one instrument is something great, but for a whole orchestra, that's just amazing! All the composers of beautiful music, are given the gift of composition from God!

    2:51-3:49 and 4:57-6:00:
    Land of hope and glory
    Mother of the free
    How shall we extol thee
    Who are born of thee?
    Wider still and wider
    Shall thy bounds be set
    God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet
    God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet

    The absolute greatest sections of this piece are at 3:35 and 5:42 where there is triumphant downward modulation in the horns and low brass to the dominant. Wonderful and most appropriate music composition.
