its funny, that Elon is talking about his robot like everyone wants a humanoid robot. One of the first lessons about robots is, that the industry is by far the biggest customer and the thing they absolutely don't need are humanoid robots. The human body is build like an Allrounder. It can do a lot of different stuff at a good level. The industry wants a Roboter, that can do 1 thing extremely good. They will do the same exact thing thousands times a day. So it should be optimized on that task and only that task. Nobody wants humanoid Roboters except some service related areas.
Except that the human body is soo good it has its downsides, needing to sleep, eat, workplace safety, needing to pay every hour, getting sick, taking vacation. The workplace environment it’s already pushing the limits of everything, everywhere not just the US. So it only natural that they move to the next step

@@christophv.3274in a perfect world on a green field i agree with you but reality is that many places just arent built to be automatised with speciality robots, they are built to be operated by humans. For example lets take an amazon goods picker in the warehouse. It would be optimal to simply built a warehouse which is planned with specialised equipment in mind, however if you have an existing warehouse your capital expenditure to get there might be very high. If the generalised humanoid robot is able to be a drop in replacement for a human you can save all the investment and as long as its cost effective compared to a human it will still be a good investment. If you have infinite money sure in the long run a full overhaul will be more wfficient, but since most businesses dont have this luxury i do see a nieche for humanoids. However this obviously is a question about price, if they are so expensive that you might as well go for a full rework specialization is probably always the way.

4:10 this has an additional affect on owners. When if you are involved in a collision, fire, flood, hail, or theft insurance claim and ur adjuster determines the vehicle to be a total loss its going to bit u in the ass. Because in order to know how much to pay you for your vehicle they work up whats called an ACV (actual cash value) which, using some math, is an approximate amount that you could resell that vehicle for 10 seconds before your loss. How does this hurt the consumer? Well if u bought the vehicle but have a lien on it you started paying off the vehicle when it was worth 50k now its worth 20k unless u have been paying more than u owed for a long period of time if u get in an accident ur only going to be paid around 20k (maybe more or less based on several factors) So if u owe more than the vehicles value the entire payment goes to the lender. U can choose to keep the vehicle (except in IL if its not over 9 model years or damage was caused by hail and did not affect the major component parts such as the engine and transmission) but that means ur repairing it on ur own dim and depending on the stste of titling may be required to have a salvage branded title, which would mean u could not legally operate the vehicle on roadways. OR u could release the vehilicle to the insurance company. But either way u still owe the difference on that loan so if u still owed 30k got paid 22k u still owe that lender 8k . This amount can be rolled into a new loan but now whatever vehicle u buy u basically owe an extra 8k more than its worth and the cycle continues if u have another incident
@KaelynSmith-bc9ww This is also true if ur in an accident in a tesla it's almost always considered a total loss because there isn't an abundance of spare parts and the costs of parts and labor are higher. But interestingly a majority of states puts the declaration of total loss into the hands of the handling adjuster. The ones that do usually agree that a percentage of damage (your estimated cost of repairs divided by your ACV *100) equal to 70-89 is salvage over 90 is junk. But there is something called a "Constructive Total Loss" which is like the vehicle is damaged but it's between 50-60 POD so it can be repaired just no reasonable person would. This carries most of the same downsides to being salvage but just means u won't be required to get a salvage title. Funny enough the best state to title a Tesla in is Texas. Their state guidelines indicate that if you retain a vehicle after a total loss collision and the Estimate (minus costs of paint) is not equal to or more than 100% of the vehicles value ur not required to apply for a salvage title. You can also get lucky and have bought an older Tesla and be exempt from salvage requirements due to age (lowest being 7 model years) Motor vehicle titling law is pretty interesting

There's honestly no reason to "move fast" or "break stuff" in nuclear. Nuclear is pretty much solved in the short term. It works out of the box with very few safety issues. What really needs to happen is the transfer to a new reactor design that doesn't use fuel that can be refined into weapons of mass destruction. Right now much of the red tape and oversight is necessary to keep a tight lid on that stuff. Once we get a good, scalable design with the right fuel (I think Thorium might be it), then a lot of the red tape could be trimmed away. What really gets people nervous is when you need to transport waste through their towns via rail or trucks. It's a case of NIMBY at its roots and outside of people being educated more that's only going to get worse.
The 100 percent ev tax from China is one of the most flagrant examples of big American buisnesses wanting to build a oligopoly and using the government to help them. We need good competition for a good free market, but the government is too worried that a few big businesses might get hurt.

@@jsutt88 I mean it quite literally is? You can be pro-green and push enviormental friendly initiatives, and still admit and understand that our world quit literally revolves around oil and gas. If we just up and banned those industries, you would literally collapse every countries economy and bankrupt the entire world in one way or another. As far as it goes, right now, and for probably the next few decades if not a century, oil and gas will remain neccessary becauise it will take many many decades for you to upgrade every countries infrastructure to support another energy source that is eco friendly, and efficiant. No one wants to spend an hour at a supercharger or 5-6 hours at a regular charger charging their car to begin with. You would officially stop roadtripping and long distance automobile travel, and force people to go onto planes if they wanted to go and explore the country, probably multiplying carbon emissions 10-fold, and only strengthening the airlines place in our future as a whole. And before suggesting trains, it would cost billions if not trillions for there to be a comprehensive subway/passenger railway system installed in the U.S efficiant enough to have people go directly where they want to go without the need of an automobile at one point.

its funny, that Elon is talking about his robot like everyone wants a humanoid robot.
@@wow-sham1300 but you dont want to replace humans with humanoid robots... you want industrial robots. Just a single strong arm. Legs? i shouldn't move. If it should move, wheels would be more stable and efficient. Body? absolutely no use in that part. Head? build the processing parts into the arm. no need for an head.
There are just so many better solutions for every problem than having a humanoid robot
EXATLY. I'm sick of those dumbasses showing humanoid robots, It's Just show off. We don't need those garbage in civil construction or industry, just better machines

@@wow-sham1300problem is tesla is their own worst enemy when it comes ro the chsrging network. Since their cars expect a certain willingness for other paradigms (i wont mane a value judgement im just saying its different) which some people dont accept. Now with tesla sales dropping as they experience some market saturation their charging business has a choice, either opeing for other brands, tearing down one of the strongest factors of their moat (imo) or not opening it thus limiting their customer base which faced a steep decline in groth to justify/expand future growth in the network. Both arent great options. Instead they just decided to fire the charger team…

Well if u bought the vehicle but have a lien on it you started paying off the vehicle when it was worth 50k now its worth 20k unless u have been paying more than u owed for a long period of time if u get in an accident ur only going to be paid around 20k (maybe more or less based on several factors)
So if u owe more than the vehicles value the entire payment goes to the lender.
This amount can be rolled into a new loan but now whatever vehicle u buy u basically owe an extra 8k more than its worth and the cycle continues if u have another incident
doesnt this mean it gets totalled way easier, especially with how expensive basically alll tesla components are?
@KaelynSmith-bc9ww
This is also true if ur in an accident in a tesla it's almost always considered a total loss because there isn't an abundance of spare parts and the costs of parts and labor are higher.
You can also get lucky and have bought an older Tesla and be exempt from salvage requirements due to age (lowest being 7 model years)
Motor vehicle titling law is pretty interesting
