Castles stand for over a thousand years, this reeks of foul play. Corroding rebar? Sounds like hidden/undocumented modifications. Something was going on in those towers. @@commenter7893 New York has very different geology than south Florida. You can also find ample evidence that this building was not built to the specs on the blueprints (e.g. the pool deck not being properly sloped, columns the wrong size) and maintenance was badly neglected, allowing saltwater to corrode both the concrete and rebar. I believe this building is also on or near the oceanfront, and Florida is extremely humid. That's not the case for most buildings in New York.
All Miami Beach, in the last 30 years its full of Highrise Construccions. Champlians Towers had only 13 floors. Know are buildings with 25 and more!!!! We hope are all better built. God, help us!!!!!
I don't know any of these people but my heart is broken! All those people just thinking they are safe in their homes. And the silence right after the collapse says alot. I will be so surprised if they find any survivors.
I've been thinking that too because it seems there was a lobby with some sort of Concierge or Security Desk. All these people have lost their lives when others knew the building was not stable. smh
I can't even put any words on what the recovery teams must be viewing, digging and digging, trying to bring closure for families who lost their loved ones.
Is anyone going to discuss the possible impact of the Navy's oceanic blast that occurred before the buildings collapse? Was it close enough to speed up the demise of this building? The blast was strong enough to register as an earthquake. But there's no discussion about it. It may or may not have been a contributing factor.
That has been on the news and is the reason we all know about it. So yeah, they have discussed it. Not likely, but anything is possible. it was hundreds of miles away.
I think that we need to come to a point where we put the responsibility on the closest actors. At the end of the day the condo owners are responsible for the maintenance of the building.
If this were another poorer class of Americans everybody would be saying that they needed to be responsible. But it says if these Americans are immune from criticism because of their wealth and so we have to go running down far-fetched theories.
All I can think of is the poor children who were fast asleep when the Angels took them to heaven. My heart is crushed for all who perished and their loving families they left behind.
This is what happens when you value money over life. Read a report that The condo association couldn't get residents on board with approving the repairs, they pushing off approving the repairs. What is the value of money if you can't use it
From what was said they wanted the people living there to get 15 million dollars to make some repairs...the residents didn't have that kind of money...but it should of been the buildings owners that come up with repair money not the residents...15, 000,000
It doesnt work like that. The condo owners are the residents. They pay for repairs like that through special assessments. If they couldn't afford to pay they should have moved out, or the building should have been deemed unsafe like the bridge in memphis was when it had structural damage. The board, and building inspector failed these people. How do you live with yourself knowing you have 150 dead on your watch, when you had 3 years to come up with solutions?
Has nothing to do with that has to do with the government. There were 33 files in that building that could’ve gotten government officials locked up for a long time look it up!!
This is so heartbreaking. I hope the people who did tragically die did not suffer. This could have been prevented if they followed up with the engineer's report and fixed what needed to be fixed. This will be on your conscience for the rest of your life now.
Well I expect some people died quickly and some did not. Common sense tells us, some did not die instantly and indeed did suffer. We will never know as it is best for their families. These poor people are suffering greatly from that tragedy.
Why would a random tourist call the local fire department to address a leak in a foreign building? In America if you're not deemed to "belong" you're harshly treated (unless you have money).
They did actually and were also yelling and screaming to the point one family heard them and got out….that’s how fire rescue was already on the way when they got the call it had turned into a collapse

Well, the building is managed by the residents. They sorta have themselves to blame. It's hard to tell yourself that it will cost tens of thousands per resident to fix the building.
Sadly, Israel has so much experience with search, rescue, and recovery in rubble because of the nature of their war torn state. Thank God they are willing to come and share that knowledge with the USA.

it was bc they seen or heard the water (broken lines), concrete & debris collapsed in the parking space under the bldg. before it collapsed. (the 1st video shows it-quickly)
The failure had started at that point and the people next door heard it. If you look closely you can see concrete debris all over the floor of the garage. I'm guessing the pouring water came from broken sprinkler lines.
I thank the Israelis so much for their sacrifice and there help but I'm a lil confused on how that even happened I'd imagine a neighboring country lending a hand but a country so far away is unexpected i guess we must be in very good terms with them either way I still appreciate it
Are you new to the planet? It used to be everybody tried to help each other, and the America of the past led the way. The Red Cross, Red Crescent, Israeli rescue specialists, the French “Doctors Without Borders”, UN-UNICEF, volunteer health care and fire depts from around the country and around the world, worked together when disasters struck anywhere. We have been so privileged in this country, and it used to be we were grateful. Out of gratitude for our good fortune, we volunteered, contributed, and tried to leave a damaged place in better shape, no matter who it belonged to, better than before. That is one of the points to having ALLIES, a point obviously not perceived by TFG, who ungraciously spat on our allies and accused them of being thieves. International doctors came to help the Navajo. UK and Germany helped Puerto Rico. And CanCancun Cruz went to Mexican Riviera while his constituents in TX froze and suffered without water, food-so New Yorkers raised $4MILLION and sent volunteer electrical linesmen and repair crews, water, food, even sent pet food, and supplies to shelters.
Their Search and Rescue Brigade are often involved in larger rescue events all over the world as they have a highly specialised team. When we had huge forrest fires here in Sweden we had help from Italy with water bombing despite them being 1600 miles away. I don't think it is that odd, but maybe not highlighted in the media as often as it should be.
For all the hindsight experts on here saying that the couple should have been raising the alarm instead of recording, a) How do you know they hadn't already? and b) The emergency services were already on the way when the building collapsed as early quakes in the building had set off alarms in the building, alerting the emergency services that something was up. The footage this couple recorded is vital evidence as to what happened.
I am so sorry to the families who have lost loved ones and to those who are still unsure-prayers! I am glad that the Israelis are helping. If anyone knows about this kind of recovery they do.
Uh what about the other 40+ y/o buildings right next to it that are still standing? By your logic all those buildings should be as flat as pancakes too.

Remember everyone these buildings are just way older then before us new Young generation was born in this world. And plus when they are renovating and putting these new upgrades in these old Buildings , we all know that it weakens the structure of the building.😔😔😔😔😔

A detached Pancaked building with 1 ft water below... Please where did the fire come from?
It's like everyone in the comments only watched this one video and are really really bad at critical thinking and research so they just keep saying and asking the same dumb questions over and over? I give up...
