What I liked here is that Henry , in Eleanor's terrible time as queen of France, he tried to be civil with her, sure its only show, because, according to the book I read, it was his big brother, the Dauphin Francis, who was polite with her.
He should have had children with her cause if they’d had sons that might have prevented the French wars of religion and the disastrous house of bourbon from coming to the thrown
Eleanor was nothing but a political pawn like many royal women back then. Nevertheless, it would have been nicer if Francis had treated her with affection and respect. He should have tried to have babies with her, even if he had heirs from the first marriage.
JY L yes poor Leonor; she was a tragic heroine in her own right. Even though she never had children with François, didn't she raise her two stepdaughters during her time in France?
Thank you, poor Leonor. :( It's funny how nobody in the French court blamed Francois for his sons being held captive in Spain because he was more to blame for that than anybody else...
I wonder if any of these scenes were filmed in the Loire valley? In the palaces there...I planned on going there before all the madness happened this year.
Prince Henry, the son of Francis from his first marriage, stepson of Eleanor. He is the future King Henry II of France. He appears as an older king in the TV series 'Reign', too.
No creo que le importara mucho el amor de Francisco, más bien quería ocupar su lugar de Reina. No era una niña insegura, era hija, hermana y esposa de reyes.
Officially, only the emperor was entitled to be called "Majesty/majestad", and kings "alteza/highness" as far as I know. Though kings later tried to show themselves as important as the emperor so they made others call them Majesty.
@@ds1868 Pretty sure the title of Most Catholic Majesty was an Spanish one. I mean, in most cases throughout the 16th, 17th, and 18th the Spanish monarch is referred as His Catholic Majesty
No, así no, en Castilla y Aragón se hablaba el roman paladino, castellano antíguo. Costaria mucho más entenderlo si en la serie se hubiera hablado tal y como se hablaba en el siglo XVI.

So true though two of France's greatest Kings (Henry IV & Louis XIV) are Bourbons.
It may not have prevented the Wars of religion but if they had sons it DEFINITELY would have stopped the accession of Henry of Bourbon.

DarkDancer06 yes
Is it known what kind of relationship Leonor had with her stepchildren? Did she get on well with them or were they, too, hostile towards her?
DarkDancer06 I think Henri was the most hostile to her because of her brother, but yeah they all pretty much didn't like her
Thank you, poor Leonor. :(

Pobre Leonor, tuvo lo mismo destino tragico que su madre se casó con un hombre cruel y infiel.
Con una gran diferencia: Leonor no quería a Francisco, en cambio Juana sí quería a Felipe

Sorry, I have a little stupid question. Why Francis' subject called him 'alteza' ? Wasn't he a king and should be called 'majestad' instead ?
