It only takes one man to destroy our electrical grid and throw us into chaos. Our enemies know this and they have tried several times to destroy our electrical grid. Weve shot down drones, arrested folks, were lucky we have a smart people working hard everyday to stop terrorist attacks.

The point wasn't to entirely stop it genius...just to hinder it and weaken it wherever possible...
It just seemed destined to fail. Little recon, shoddy logistics, and questionable personal selection being key failings. While small forces can be successful these where really just guys let loose with abysmal chances of success.
I love how mutiple governments constantly prove their incompetence, over and over and over again. Yet people still believe in these same governments to keep us safe and have our best interest at heart.

he was released in 1948 sooo yes he was sentened to 30 years in prison but only served about 5 years
With the amount of WWII movies coming out in recent years, I'm surprised this hasn't been made into a movie yet.
There's so much interesting exploits of ww2 that could be made into movies. But a majority tend to focus on the Holocaust or Americans in Europe

Spy's landed in Maine too and were quickly arrested. My grandfather knew someone who worked at the black point inn in Scarborough Maine and she said two men wearing heavy coats with German accents came in one night and got a room. The next morning they were gone and she had said that she had been Told not to tell anyone who they were and what happened to them and not to talk about it. So nearest we can figure they landed and tried something similar
There were 3 targets these men were going to destroy which included Grand Central Terminal's sub basement which had massive generators for electric trains that could be destroyed using sand, The horseshoe curve near Altoona that used for mainline railroad traffic, and the Hellgate Bridge which also used by the Pennsylvania Railroad for carrying passengers into New York City via Penn Station.
Kinda of dumb, they would have repaired all that in Weeks. The Whole US was firing on all cylinders at the Time. It was a working machine

Ohio: Erie Canal (And Neil Armstrong would have never made it to the moon), the city of Lima (Lime-ah) (for locomotive & tank production)
Chicago, Il: All railroad hubs, & shipyards.
How were only 9 people going to sabotage the entire industrial capacity of the US?
I thought the same thing, my first thought is it might have been a test run to see if it was successful before committing more resources. But even just blowing up a few places would force the US to use resources defending factories and other locations while causing fear in Americans maybe decreasing the publics support of the war. So maybe that was what they were really hoping would be the outcome.
You would be surprised at what people could do back then, even without 21st century technology.
the fundamentalization come from the WWl where the germany send agents to the middle east to spread the idea of the big war was a sacred war of the islam, the plan was not really succeful but not a total fail.
of course the Germany were extremely arrogant to suppose the organization of America were so basic as the middle east.

I like the idea but saboteurs aren't spies, so they don't make very good double-agents. You can't send them back to counter-sabotage, you can't feign sabotage to convince the axis their saboteurs are succeeding, and you can't use them to send back disinfo because they're not spies. Could've kept the two guys and used them to train counter-saboteur intelligence tho

My great grandmother actually was there in Ponte Vedra Beach when the men came ashore, she was out with one of her best friends and hid under the boardwalk when she saw men coming. She later reported it to the Jacksonville sheriffs office and The St. John’s county sheriff

@@SpringfieldProductions in college it was cool to tell the full story when we went over WW2 in the history of Florida class I was taking, essentially she was on a walk while staying at a friends house who lived in south jax beach, she saw a weird looking shape on the horizon that looked a little darker than the ocean did. The SS Gulfamerica sunk a month or two earlier cause of a uboat so they waited to see if they could get a better look, when they saw a rowboat come ashore they hid under the boardwalk in the dunes and they said that when they landed they hopped in a black car and drove north.
There was ,and still is a big german ethic in the US ,so it's amazing that actually nothing happend on american soil .

Idk I doubt that Germans would take up arms against the country they’re living in and most likely have their whole late based in just because they were born there or have family who was. People knew that Germany were evil and if life is good for you and you’re not an extremist you most likely wouldn’t risk and most likely lose your life for something like that

Japanese-Americans were in internment camps, Mexican-Americans were being attacked by Navy sailors, as well as being misplaced and forced out of their homes by the US Government, to build said internment camps, and were being sent to Mexico, while being stripped of their citizenship. African-Americans, and Black Americans were still facing harsh segregation as well as racial discrimination. But you're right, America was a haven, for a select group of people.

I am from Long Island and I have been to the Montauk Lighthouse, the farthest east point on the island. They have little shacks still there from WWII to prevent naval attacks as well as a huge radar
I'm from Long Island too. It's so interesting how many WWII relics are all over the place. I live near old Grumman hangers that use to build war planes. Now they get rented out by movie studios. One of the spider man movies was filmed in there.
