    I love your content Mark. Part of that is you seem to bring the marketing crap down to earth and actually tell the truth. I don't really care what the manufacturers are saying. It's basically the same on every club every year. More distance, more forgiving. We need you to tell us what is actually happening!

      I agree, its the same old stuff every year because they have to sell golf clubs. I have watched a couple other golf channels and they must be getting paid because al I hear is wow wow. Your title is correct about the "HYPE." Every year is the same. All companies pay the RUclipsrs and throw a parade for the latest product. I am not criticizing because companies need to sell their product. I understand. But seldom is there a change in the performance numbers that make any real difference. It does make for a good reason for another video though. Keep up the good work Mark. I like your instructional shorts.👍

      @MWalsh1992 Год назад +3

      Incremental improvements it always is. However when you look at year on year you do see improvements. The issue is that if you are someone looking to change sets each year it just isn't worth it. For those who game a set for 4-5 years there may be enough to tempt them.

    • @amunt3r
      @amunt3r Год назад +10

      @@MWalsh1992 My impression is that there isn't much room for REAL improvements at this point. Jacked lofts, hot faces... At the end of the day, if you've bought game improvement irons in the past 5 years that are reasonably well fitted to your game (i.e. the right shafts), you won't see anything that justifies the sticker price in an updated set.
      I've got JPX 921s and will probably simply reshaft these if and when my swing dynamics change. There's so much variability in my swing, though, that looking for tiny improvements is kinda pointless when (a) I'm playing off 12 and (b) I'm never going to have an elite swing. Any improvement in handicap will come from my short game, not from sticking irons close to the pin.

    • @bluewaterbuddy

      @@bluewaterbuddy seems like brain-dead consumerism to me, hopefully someone gets a bargain on a 12-month old set of used clubs. I completed my set of JPX 921s recently and saved up a bundle as they were a 'superceded' model. (Originally had a mixed set with JPX for mid to long irons.) Moral of the story: shop around for last year's models and save $hundreds.

Talking of brands I do wish there were more stockists and demo days for brands like Srixon- Cleveland and Wilson, Cobra, and even Mizuno. These irons surprised me. I typically play a “players” iron. My previous irons were MP-18 MMC. I went in convinced I was getting T100s, the fitter put these in my hands. I just have gave him a weird look because he said just hit them. I got these 2 degrees flat and went 10 for 10 from 180 and couldn’t get my wallet out fast enough. Super forgiving and somewhat compact.

    I recently went and tried them out against my Ping i210’s and found them to be an excellent club with more distance then my Pings (about 5 yards) this was using the 7 iron. My Pings had a slightly better dispersion, perhaps due to my familiarity with them but the Paradym’s were not much different. I could not justify the $1399 to change clubs therefore will stick with my Ping’s however I was indeed very impressed with these irons and would certainly recommend them.

    went to the golf shop yesterday. i hate off set, (if I had the time to practice enough I'd play blades). I now play a set of Apex pros from a couple of yrs ago with almost no offset. I compared the Paradigm to the Apex and from the top the only way to tell the difference is the Apex had a more brushed finished, both had the same minimal offset, both look the SAME from the top. I hit both mine and the Paradigm into a net and I could not tell the difference in feel or sound sometimes I thought I might be able to tell a difference but after hit twenty with both I really didn't feel enough difference to tell. Sound was the same. The only difference will be the much hotter Paradigm. I'm extremely excited about getting fit for my new set of Paradigm irons 4-PW, with the extra difference I will ditch my 4 hybrid and carry the Paradigm in a 18 degree which I can make one degree stronger or 1-2 degrees weaker. The Paradym iron is truly a Players distance iron.

    Mark, Question. Always wondered why you stand on a mat to hit shots. Your feet are slightly above the ball, which means you have to go after it on the down swing, imho. Most ranges your feet are level with the ball. On the course, uphill or downhill lies, we all (should ) make adjustments. So, it seems you're slightly uphill to the ball below your feet. Not that it should adversely affect your numbers as you are used to it, as you've done it for the few years i've been watching your vids. But just wondered why you stand on a mat.

    The lofts are strong but by no means the strongest currently on the market. The spin is a little low but broadly what you would expect for the loft.

    Back of the clubs not great need to be more classic metal. I expect they are like all power lofted clubs …which are good IMO as I game T400’s and love the power/distance. The key is what shafts you get with them , I am sure i picked the T400’s and the Cobra Ltdx when i tried all the 2022 GI Irons because i got on better with their stock shafts. Had hot metals before and should have liked the new ones but didn’t probably because the shafts didn’t work for me.

    @markcrossfield . Hi Mark , can you clarify something ? You mentioned your spin at 4990 rpm and then commented that outdoors that would equate to 6000-6300 rpm .
    Why?

    Like to see a comparison to the P790s and maybe the Forged Tech irons. Maybe other forged face irons that are out there. These are interesting for sure.

    Agree with others on the name. It is something slapped on by marketing dpt. It is great big Bertha v5 or whatever.

    Over all a nice looking irons
    Am I blown away by those looks though? No.
    Would I buy those irons over anything else on that? No.
    Would I try them out of curiosity? Well of course.
    Do I like the Name? Well it’s different. And yes I do.
    I do start to wonder if tech is getting in the way of overall feel and feedback? Most certainly.
    Overall though, I think perhaps I’m maybe more interested in where their Paradym is going in the woods and Drivers, than I am in their irons.

  • @robbotronomer

    I get that the name is slightly different but I feel like if it was taylormade it wouldn't be as questioned, so after the stealth 2 they will probably change again and hypothetically if it was the taylormade paradym I don't think it's made as much of a deal

    I personally don't care about the tech in a club unless it's really earth shatteringly different. I guess as a result I'm struggling a little with all these new irons releases from Callaway and Taylormade etc... what are the actual differences anymore? All the testing seems to end up so similar, I don't understand why we'd all buy the newer models. And in fairness, we don't really need a 7 iron to spin at 7000, that's an old model that didn't exactly understand the decent angles. Those days have been long gone.

    The problem I find with the jacked lofts and hot faces is I absolutely cannot control the distances as well, and thats multiplied by 100 coming out of anything other than a perfect lie!

    I'm starting to pull back from watching new release club testing. It really seems like repetitive videos. It's always a touch better, lots of marketing hype, but rarely any substantive changes. I'm happy with my bag and I'm just gonna stick with it until something breaks.

    $1700+ US..?? I'm not broke, do quite well but I'm frugal. Are these golf companies going crazy? Maybe I'm just getting old. I can't see getting $1700+ worth improvement over models from 2-3 yrs ago.

      Manufacturers aren't going crazy. In fact, they are all having record profitability! So it would seem that gold equipment has LONG been under-priced.
