This video was very helpful, thanks! We do bee keeping on the rooftop of our office in the netherlands with 2 hives and are in the same situation. Last week we donated brood from the healthy hive to the queenless hive. And now we wait!
Hi there, thank you. Beekeeping on a rooftop, that’s fantastic! Yes it’s the waiting and hoping they sort themselves out. Hope all goes well for you. 🐝
Its always great when the bees manage to raise a new queen with a bit of help from the beekeeper. By the way how are you planning to keep your colonies over winter, single brood, doubke brood etc. i tried brood and a half last year, it worked, but a bit messy in the spring. Ta
Hi, it’s an amazing thing every time when a queen is successful. I like to keep to single brood boxes. I’ve also used brood and a half but not really keen on it. 🐝
I always check for queen cells on the other frames as I have given a hopelessly queenless hive that only had capped brood a frame of young larvae, they moved the larvae over a couple of frames and made a queen cell.
