Without a doubt, the soundtrack made this film. The acting, writing, direction and cinematography may have been on point, but the music is what transforms Once Upon a Time in America into the emotional journey that it is.
The characters of this movie are awful people, the fact that you see them since they are children, the beautiful photography and music are what makes you care about them, accentuates their humanity, and this imo is why this movie isn't just a classic it's a masterpiece. R.I.P. Maestro
Morricone, gracias, gracias, gracias.
i've had this habit for many years of watching certain scenes of certain movies from time to time. out of the blue i decide to watch this particular scene or that particular one, and i do. that's how i got to know this movie pratically by heart. but recently i decided to not watch any of it again for as long as 30+ years. i wanna watch it again when i get to 65 years old or something. First because i'd like to forget it entirely and eventually be able to be surprised by it again as if i had never watched it (Don't know if i'll achieve that, though!). Second because i recently heard this opinion that this is a movie that you're supposed to watch when you are an elder and not before, and i couldn't agree more with that.
There are more like Noodles in the world. Men among males. I would live and die in the streets were it not for my dear sweet wife and precious little girls all sent by God. It's a fast and wonderful life, enjoy it. If you've survived it , then it was meant to be so. Nowadays this masterpiece plays as I put my little girls down to sleep. Maybe they will remember these melodies when they are older and I am gone. This movie and music sums up all the loves and all the tragedies we've ever had to so many different people. I believe that's one part of the legacy of this music. It makes you instantly recollect those moments all of them at once. Heartache for those that have been lost heartache for the time that has passed and been lost. Just pondering and sharing... as I rock in a chair watching over little sleeping angels.
Дорћол being loyal doesn’t mean anything. There are people loyal to the nazi party. Does that make them good? I love the movie but noodles was a bad person
Re-watched this movie last night. The score is so phenomenal, I think it's Morricone's best work. Sometimes the main theme played throughout the film is almost too beautiful and romantic for the scenes they accompany.
My father listens to this everyday on his way to and back from work..Weird but we became alot closer because of this movie..Its Magical..Went to Italy from the E.C just to see Ennio in Sep 2015 when i was 25,and ive never been to Europe or anywhere really up until that point idk what else would have made me get up n go!unless maybe Vangelis did the whole Blade Runner Album live with his CS-80s and other synths lol.
Requiescat in pace maestro Ennio Morricone! For given as such unforgettables moments in our lifes. For me, his soundtracks for Sergio Leone films, will be forever immortalised as a finest example of what a film composer can do to the mood and feeling of the "moving pictures"
I must admit that I come close to it at the end. I believe I actually did cry at the end the last time I watched it, at the end credits with De Niro smiling when doped up, after he gave the call.
Ces notes me touchent particulièrement.
Excuze me, please, I don"t understand French, and translated only 4 words - about 4 hours of the film with music, wich called for your gratitude to Ennio. Sorry, my English is bad too(((.
Mob movies made great movies better then hood movies but then again its might just be the director and writers that write hood movies. That make hood movies wack

Exactly just like the Pope of Greenwich Village....

One of the greatest soundtracks ever made. Your music will live on forever maestro. Rest in Peace mr Morricone.

Bien d’accord avec vous ! Un parisien(!)
Ennio Morricone
Es war einmal in Amerika
Der beste song aller Zeiten
Wir waren mal Brüder
The best film ever made and this music confirms it.

Oh oui..capolavoro assoluto.
This is the most hauntingly beautiful movie score ever ... My wife and I slow dance to Amapola whenever we hear it.
Wonderful! but Amapola was used by Ennio Morricone because it fit, he did not compose it.
My favorite gangster movie. Love the composer. All Actors. Hate the critics.
Morricone, gracias, gracias, gracias.
I listen and I see the scenes. Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone made this masterpiece. Ennio especially, so proficient in films RIP to you both

Tito, condivido in pieno il tuo commento.

I love this song 😍 I see my life when I hear it. Thanks very much Ennio Morricone.

Ennio is the man. When he passes, the world will be less beautiful.

when I listen to this music I must close my eyes and enjoy each part of that melody :) great movie and great music too
Rest in Power, Ennio.
The Theme was beautiful, has a real sense of loss and the end of the world feel.
I must admit that I come close to it at the end. I believe I actually did cry at the end the last time I watched it, at the end credits with De Niro smiling when doped up, after he gave the call.

Certainly not. It took me a whole week to finally come back to my senses and realize that a film had made me lose track of time.

Beethovenini Funny how a movie about Jewish mobsters has a very Italian soundtrack at times
Not that funny given the fact that both the director of the film and composer of the soundtrack were Italian.
