Thanks for the video Steve. I think I will start small with coaster molds, or maybe some crystals. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this.
I have tried epoxy a couple time but it usually ends up with a sticky surface. Any suggestions? I’ve been using Monkey Pod but the cost of the wood really cuts down on my profit.
If the epoxy is sticky after a day or two then there is probably not enough hardener in it. Some epoxy is mixed by volume and some is done by weight. Make sure you’re mixing per the suppliers instructions. Having said that, I have experienced some epoxy that just won’t harden, no matter how I mixed it. I concluded it was just a bad batch. I’ve recently taken to New Classic Resin for making charcuterie boards. It never cures with bubbles and finished perfectly every time. (And I have no relationship with them. I just like their resin because it makes my job essy.
Thank you for making the video. I want to make a few molds - would like to start with coasters. It seems like it is critical that the tape be applied smoothly or you might end up with irregular textures on the surface of the mold . Is my understanding correct?
For a charcuterie board the quality of the taping is less important because the boards produced will be planed/sanded extensively. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to make thing smooth though. Pretty much anything you make with epoxy resin will be finished the same way. The smoothness just simplifies the finishing process a bit by reducing the sanding you need to do
I can make these available if people want them. My hope was to educate everyone to make their own of course. You could easily make on of these with basic tools and be using it the next day. If you do want some them send me an email (see video description) with the size(s) and I can give you a price.
Hi Steve! Wow! Another AWESOME video! After seeing your charcuterie video, bought some coaster molds and plate molds to start small. Can’t wait to delve into further! Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Purchased a “thanks” for you.
Hey Steve, thank you for this. Can I ask how much silicone you used to make this mold? I'm just not sure how much to make up and since it can be expensive I want to minimise waste. thanks in advance from NZ
Indeed it is expensive. The large mold with half-inch walls and floors that I created in this video I used about 8 cups of silicone. As far as volume, this mold is relatively easy since it's just one regular shape (boxes) inside another. So you can calculate the volume of the inner box (L*W*H) and subtract it from the volume of the outside box to get the volume to a liquid measurement using our friend, Google
Great video!!! I’ll be making some soon!!👍🏻
Excellent!
Much cheaper than buying the silicone molds people sell. Solid tip.
Happy to help. These are very easy to make
Hey, Steve
The product link comes up something different than Pixis but I found it on Amazon anyway, thanks
I’ll take a look, thanks
Thank you for all of your wonderful videos. 😘
Thanks for the boost!😀
Thank you, Steve. Where can I buy adhesive tape?
Amazon is always your best bet for this, especially in countries where local hardware stores don’t supply it
Love your videos, I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for your time.
I just hope they’re useful

For coasters molds I have taken an existing coaster and used it as the internal shape in the form

@@SteveMakesEverything I will try try that. Thanks for the great content and for taking time to answer my question.
@@gordangraham I'm just trying to be helpful 🙃
Always wanted to see how these were made; thanks for taking the time to show this process! Love your videos!
Hope you got value.

Have you considered selling the molds? I’d be interested in buying a few.

Hi I was wondering if you could make me a silicone mold same size of the one your following up on
Sure. Shoot me an email (address in the description)
