@@NickLea You may have read this 'required' from some of the documentation that came out in last year or so and it was discussed on Geeksvana but you have left out several other statements and paragraphs in that doc like flying competency etc... So it's not as straight forward as what you are making out.
@@Feverstockphoto You are mistaken. It is very straightforward indeed. "Competency" isn't mentioned in most of the relevant parts of the legislation, the Air Traffic Management and Unmanned Aircraft Act 2021. If you read Schedule 9 you will see that it deals with a lot of different requirements. Section 2 deals with the powers of a police officer when speaking with the pilot of a drone. What that Section basically says is that if a person is flying a drone that requires an Operator ID then it is an offence if they do not give details of the person who is the Operator to the police when requested. Normally, people fly their own drones so, in that situation they are the Operator and so are required to provide their own details. If you are flying somebody else's drone then they remain the Operator and you must give the police the details of the Operator or whoever else let you fly their drone. This is the wording of Schedule 9, Section 2:- Provision by remote pilots of information about UAS operators 2(1)A constable may exercise the power conferred by this paragraph in relation to a person (P) if the constable- (a)has reasonable grounds for believing that- (i)a flight by an unmanned aircraft is taking place or has taken place, and (ii)P is or was the remote pilot of the unmanned aircraft, and (b)has reasonable grounds for suspecting that a relevant registration requirement is or was applicable as respects the UAS operator for the unmanned aircraft and the flight. (2)The constable may require P to provide such information as the constable considers reasonable as to the identity of- (a)the person or persons who are or were the UAS operator for the flight, or (b)the person or persons who made the unmanned aircraft available for use by P. (3)In this paragraph “relevant registration requirement” means a requirement imposed by, or referred to in, any of the following provisions of the ANO 2016- (a)article 265A(5)(a) (open category: registration of UAS operator); (b)article 265A(5)(b) (open category: display of UAS operator's registration number); (c)article 265A(6)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator); (d)article 265A(6)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number); (e)article 265A(7)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator); (f)article 265A(7)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number); (g)article 265A(9)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator); (h)article 265A(9)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number); (i)article 265E(1)(a) (registration of tethered small unmanned aircraft of 250g or more); (j)article 265E(1)(b) (display of registration number of tethered small unmanned aircraft of 250g or more). (4)P is guilty of an offence if- (a)P fails to comply with a requirement imposed by a constable under this paragraph to provide, as respects a flight by an unmanned aircraft, information as to the identity of a person, (b)P is or was the remote pilot of the unmanned aircraft for the flight, (c)the relevant registration requirement which the constable had reasonable grounds for suspecting is or was applicable as respects the UAS operator for the unmanned aircraft and the flight is or was so applicable, and (d)at the time when the constable imposed the requirement, P could have provided information of the kind which the constable required P to provide. (5)A person who is guilty of an offence under this paragraph is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 2 on the standard scale. (6)Paragraph 10 includes a defence to the offence under this paragraph.

This is the wording of Schedule 9, Section 2:-
Provision by remote pilots of information about UAS operators
2(1)A constable may exercise the power conferred by this paragraph in relation to a person (P) if the constable-
(a)has reasonable grounds for believing that-
(i)a flight by an unmanned aircraft is taking place or has taken place, and
(ii)P is or was the remote pilot of the unmanned aircraft, and
(b)has reasonable grounds for suspecting that a relevant registration requirement is or was applicable as respects the UAS operator for the unmanned aircraft and the flight.
(2)The constable may require P to provide such information as the constable considers reasonable as to the identity of-
(a)the person or persons who are or were the UAS operator for the flight, or
(b)the person or persons who made the unmanned aircraft available for use by P.
(3)In this paragraph “relevant registration requirement” means a requirement imposed by, or referred to in, any of the following provisions of the ANO 2016-
(a)article 265A(5)(a) (open category: registration of UAS operator);
(b)article 265A(5)(b) (open category: display of UAS operator's registration number);
(c)article 265A(6)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator);
(d)article 265A(6)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number);
(e)article 265A(7)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator);
(f)article 265A(7)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number);
(g)article 265A(9)(a) (specific category: registration of UAS operator);
(h)article 265A(9)(b) (specific category: display of UAS operator's registration number);
(i)article 265E(1)(a) (registration of tethered small unmanned aircraft of 250g or more);
(j)article 265E(1)(b) (display of registration number of tethered small unmanned aircraft of 250g or more).
(4)P is guilty of an offence if-
(a)P fails to comply with a requirement imposed by a constable under this paragraph to provide, as respects a flight by an unmanned aircraft, information as to the identity of a person,
(b)P is or was the remote pilot of the unmanned aircraft for the flight,
(c)the relevant registration requirement which the constable had reasonable grounds for suspecting is or was applicable as respects the UAS operator for the unmanned aircraft and the flight is or was so applicable, and
(d)at the time when the constable imposed the requirement, P could have provided information of the kind which the constable required P to provide.
(5)A person who is guilty of an offence under this paragraph is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 2 on the standard scale.
(6)Paragraph 10 includes a defence to the offence under this paragraph.
Talk about creating a gap between law enforcement and the public.. that SGT is a danger to the public... terrible.
Wow, you handle that situation very well, calm, cool and collected. The last two gentlemen you were talking with were good people.
another bent police officer.
He rides a recumbent bike?
I get why he was concerned but the sergeant's attitude was absolutely disgraceful. Imagine how much worse he'd be if not being recorded.
Can you imagine this guy with a firearm?
The sergeant let his ignorance shine bright on this video, the drone officer and the young officer were absolutely perfect 👌, we’ve all learned something from this drone officer
This is one of the best drone videos. The drone cop was ace. Mr 27 years needs some manners.
The old famous “we don’t know who you are “ SO WHAT. Unless a crime is suspected they are not entitled to know who you are,
Drone PC was brilliant. A born teacher.
Brilliant engagement towards the end with them two officers mind, its refreshing to see officers just talking normally and treating you like a human being rather than some sort of convict like the Sargeant was portraying.
Angry Sergeant actually points out the specific custody area 🙄
(The sergeant at the beginning) Don’t let the bullying beeping beep win make sure you complain about his behaviour
Complaints go nowhere they know this
No consequences whatsoever
I don't DJE audit will complain he's too nice.
@@anthonyo.6084 , do you ever read what you post? "I don't DJE audit . . . ?"
you're free to complain yourself . why not give it a go?
