"Orange cross was actually already made with 3 solved pairs at the start of the scramble, but since Max was watching green cross, he does a 65 move solve in 3.52 seconds." -Broadcasters when Max solves
It’s so cool - I had the absolute pleasure of meeting both of them today at the UK Nationals (3x3 is tomorrow so new WRs maybe?) but they are the nicest people. Always up to take photos and sign cubes with tons of people, but also it’s great seeing them both be friends and interact with each other. What an absolute legend!
The fact that max park is learning how to do double flicks is terrifying to me. Imagine how much (more) dominance he'll establish once he gets good at them
like bruh, if he did double filicks in is his 3.63 single he would've atleast been close to the current WR and now, *we will have a day where we will see max park using double flicks and getting the 3x3 WR single*
It's super amazing how despite Max Park's techniques can be pretty flawed at times he never ceases to set world records. Just imagine how much better he would be if he used better techniques, I bet he would have set the WR single by now.
AIYO J perm, so glad to see you update after 3 long weeks! I hope the activities in scs went well! Hope you can make a tornado V3 M and Gan 13 review! Always hyped for your quality content!
They both have their strength. Max's TPS is far superior but Tymon knows lot more ZBLLs and has better look ahead and efficiency. This is a point in Max's favour as he is able to get WR solves even with worse lookahead, efficiency, and algs. He's just crazy good at TPS
They said that max park would break the 3x3 world record average with 4.85, but some random 9-year-old Chinese kid just broke the record with 4.69. That clearly explains that no matter how good you are at something, there is always an Asian who can do it better than you.
Hey J Perm! I just want to say how much you and your videos have helped me on my cubing journey. Because of your tutorials and cubing tips (along with some unforgettable jokes), I now rank #1 in Arizona for 3x3 single and average. Thanks for all you do and the impact you will have for future world record holders! ❤
The fact that 2 different cubers with such different styles of cubing can both be the world record holders is kinda insane. Wonder who would break the WR first
I love the good natured ribbing of Max and his lack of U double flicks. You always strike the best balance on that. It's nice that people like you, and others, put work into keeping the community excellent to each other.
Thanks Dysprosium Lanthanum Nitrogen for getting into Max‘s head for us. Looking forward to see what‘s next in the Tymon and Maximum Park saga. PS: Can‘t call you crazy when I was thinking the same.
12:39 If you look at orange front yellow top, then you can replace blue with red doing U' L2, allign red and green with D, then finish with R2 F'. However, if you look further, you'll realise there aren't any good pairs on top. What you can do then, if you notice the red-green edge will barely move and end up at UF, is to simply add a U2 before the last F', so that the corresponding corner also stays in the top layer and pairs un with the edge. So, my final solution is: Orange front, yellow top U' R2 D R2 (U2) F' for a free first pair as well (red-green)
reconstructing his solve you think that he did some wrong choices, rotated too much, went for a wrong pair, but eventually he gets pll skip and ties the wr! he is the king guys, an absolute, merciless king
To be clear, if you sum the total single solves times Tymon still has a slight advantage at 14.57 vs 14.59, but lucky for Max the records are adjusted to average solve time instead of 3 cube total
J perm, you helped me learn how to solve a cube nearly a year ago, now i have a 19.60 PB and am learning full pll I just want to thank u for helping my find my favorite habit

even though Max's solving style feels really janky and awkward sometimes, it's difficult to not respect that he can bang out sub 5s with the most simple solutions
sooner or later Tymon will get a low sub-5 avg only for Max to get the first ever sub-4 avg like the next day, still incredible work by Max and absolutely insane that they tied for WR
my guess is that max park already has mastered double flicks but to make getting wrs easier he found out that using slower flicks meant he could slow down his solve making it easier to break the wr. Him using the double flick at the end of the solve was probably because he knew he needed to speed up the solve a bit to tie the record.
the really interesting question is: Max does these things you are not supposed to do, rotations, picking non optimal pairs, no double flicks, and still, he is the best in the world. what does this mean?
I think Max looks at his watch before finishing the solve to see whether he should delay it a bit further to give himself some buffer for future world records.
weird idea. What if max park sees both cases. But he does the hard one to get the best practice and learning and he even does this in comp. In theory he would always be the most advance.
