This is my classic steel wheel fitted to a Triumph Acclaim. You can't buy these any more so I decided to restore the original wheels at home in my workshop. I had the tyre fitted at the local tyre fitting bay though.
Next time put the whole rim in a container of vinegar for 48 hours with a fish tank bubbler and don’t kill your self with all the power tools that can’t get rid of all the rust when an acid bath will
There's just something very rewarding about bringing back an item to its former glory.
I literally have NO idea why I just watched you restore an old rim..........for 12 minutes. Oddly enough, it took me another 12 minutes of self reflection to realize that it was quite satisfying for some reason. Kept popping in to my feed so finally I was like, "alright then, I will watch it already". I am glad I did. Thank you. Subbed!
Thanks bud.
Quarantine got me like😂
I used to work in automobile detailing, and I'm OCD, and I approve of your restoration.
My great uncle used to take old wheels/ tires like this one and turn them into planters for the garden, but you made it roadworthy again. Amazing job!

*cracks out the sand blaster*
*me with my 80 grit :))*
Just did some alloys with sand paper myself, took 3 days of straight sanding. Really makes me wish there was someone with a sandblaster nearby lol
never mind the sand blaster, what about the powder coating and oven set up!
@@VeyronBD A big plastic container, and some electrolytic de-rusting would also take three days - but be effortless, and probably do a better job!
@@richardking6066 lol yeah you might be right on that
Feel this in my soul 🤣
HERE IN BRAZIL, THIS WHEEL ROOF 13 WAS ORIGINALLY IN FIAT UNO MILLE FIRE 1.0 AND OTHER FACTORY CARS. THESE WHEELS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND VERY RESISTANT. YOUR WORK IS DONE WITH DEDICATION AND LOVE AND THIS IS WORTH MY FOOT CLAP. (THREE POND / BRAZIL)
I must admit, I thought "A wheel?!, how dull can this be?" You showed me, that looks great! Great restore.
Cheers bud
It was interesting,,
Wow, the transformation is amazing, it looks brand new, maybe even a better finish than brand new!!.
This video was simply a joy to watch. Great video quality and timing. A lot of details and steps(metal brush, degrasing, sandblast, grinding, powder coat etc etc) definitely a shop job. Thanks for sharing your work.
Great video Martin. Wow what a finish ! you will have to do the other 3 now lol. I was cringing watching you cut that old tyre off with that stanley knife it case it slipped off ! Great job as usual Martin looks great.
Cheers, Jeff.
It was easy to cut through Jeff, nice new blade.
I have done this before on some rims that were in no where near as bad condition, the end result is definitely rewarding and worth it, but at the same time the amount of time and effort that goes into doing this almost seems less worthwhile than just going and spending the money on some brand new rims. Definitely a good way to save money.. just depends on how much you value your time.
This was a wheelie good restoration
It now has its acclaim to fame
First class martin
Haha, nice one Chris
Finally the end of powder coating projects ... due to your new equipment. Your real skills now ...
???
he powder coated it
"Of course it can!" was my first thought when I saw the title.
That's a triumph in its self Martin if you ever need to remove tyres In future a bit of 50x50 6mm angle and a sledge hammer are your friend along with 2 tyre levers keep up the good work love the content
That was really impressive. Good job and well.presented
Having your workshop next to a wild bird sanctuary is a nice touch. Nice finished product.
Another excellent restoration of something that at first looked beyond saving, now perfect.
Martin that was wheely good restore but you must of had to tread carefully prepping ,thought i might get tyred watching but i was blown away on balance.
Good one Martin

Restoring the rim: 200£. Chinese Goodride Tire: 7£
Wow. And all this time I thought I needed a machine to take the wheel off the rim. All I ever needed was for Martin to show up. Martin, you are a brute, my friend. Amazing work.
Haha, cheers bud.
Incredible Martin, what a beautiful transformation. Well done.
Can't wait to see the Acclaim fully restored, great job Martin : )
Done a good job of them Martin. That cabinet you made has just paid for itself yet again
Yes it has John.
That was a lot of time and effort in that but the results was amazing! First I was like, a rusty rim? Really? But after that powder coat, I was like WOW! Awesome!
When you were cutting the tire open using a razor, I thought of the U.S. Border Patrol. The U.S. Border Patrol cut open tires that way, because they are full of drugs or money. Sadly, your tire was just full of political promises. =(
Haha, nice one lol
😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏
First time I have seen a tyre shop clean the tyre off give that man a big hand of applause doing the job as it should be done ✅
My thoughts exactly.
cool equipment for restoration at home
wow. the triumph is going to look amazing with these wheels.
Brilliant job that Martin. I'm very impressed!
Wow, that's perfect, it will give you the enthusiasm to get that car on the road asap... nice wheels and alot of hard work.

What a difference Martin. The wheel looks amazing. As good as new 👍👍
Another fabulous job Martin, as always. Keep em coming.
This guy always does a good job.
I love your make shift electrical screwdriver, i have a couple of them myself lol
Nice job Martin, it just goes to show what can be restored, even if it's in a bad way to start with. 👍
I scared for you at first, but you pulled it off! Bravo!
That was satisfying to watch Martin. Well done
Great job martin it has a retro look to it with the pitting etc 😎👍
Wish I had a sand blaster and a degreaser bath and a powder coater and a oven and a tyre fitter and tyre balancing machine and a nice big workshop to put it in but because I don't I'll just enjoy the show.
The tyre fitting was done at a tyre shop.
A lovely looking job youve done of it. Spot on.
"At Home' Sounds like everyone could do it at home with sand blasters and powder coating ;D But great job anyways the bent inside concerned me :D
WOW. Its a good thing that was so easy and fast because there are only three more to do. ;)
This is some professional stuff right here
New life breathed into this wheel / tire. Nice spare to have if not a primary tire.
wow..you got everything bro...thats impresive

I was very surprised your oven was big enough...I’m well jealous...I have a right song and dance when I refurbish my wheels 😬

Great,Great Job;I would really like painting on white,For a kind of rally design car.
the sound of my rice wagon run down the road with a set of these sexy rims is really making my day
Nice nature songs!
That looks to be solid enough. Years ago I bought a SH tyre and wheel for Moggy 1000 pickup. Nearly got to Alford (lived at Ulceby) and felt a wobble. Very lucky, rim had split.
Yes Malc this was solid.
Another great restore Martin.
Awesome work!
