Note to self: Conduct a research video for IFHE.
I would absolutely love it if WG made it so that IFHE and APCS worked on secondaries. I don’t like relying on fires when I’m brawling in a Schlieffen
I think Tokachi benefits far more from IFHE+ than Smolensk does. Tokachi has great HE pen and everything in t7 is just so soft so she ends up fullpenning things with HE in a similar manner to Gdansk line.
There's an actual diffrrence between AP and HE damage with Smolensk so APCS is still the way to go imo. Also, Gorshkov is just a waste on Smolensk anyways

Thunderer works well with Lord Nelson and his IFHE plus skill, Conqueror is still dogshit even with APCS and the worst battleship at tier 10 by a huge margin. God save that line

Thing with IFHE is that HE pen is kinda pointless given how simplified armor mechanics is.
Shells don't ricochet in blitz, after all.
You want full damage though. That's not pointless at all.
@slai47 you have faced my ifhe zoa more than once.. it regularly cits bbs and always rips I never use ap on zoa
I've seen both. APCS zao has moments it helps and hurts. IFHE+ Zao has some merit but it's rare to see them.
I hadn’t thought about the Yodo line… getting close to unlocking lvl 11 skill for Togo - might be worth trying IFHE+ on the Black Shimanto…

1:48 you may wanna check your math there slai. 15% increase on 50mm gives 57.5mm of pen (an increase of 7.5mm), while a 5% increase on 120mm gives 126mm of pen (an increase of only 6mm). That being said, apcs is still the goat 😅

How about Harugumo line? I found I shoot HE a lot even fighting against DDs. I don't feel AP brings much of advantage over the potential fires from HE. Thanks. @Slai47
Harugumo has such bad HE and AP pen that neither feel like it helps 😂. So dealers choice
Great video Slai47. Question: On PC ifhe penalizes fire chance. I don't have the statistics to prove it, but I feel like I don't get as many fires with ifhe. You sold me on Tovey on Monarch a long time ago.
As far as I know, no it doesn't penalize you.

On PC, IFHE halves the fire chance (given PC fire chances are higher than Blitz).
It's still useful for many ship to get into 32mm of HE pen.
@ottaviobasques I understand the advantages of IFHE. However, it only makes sense that if fires are external, by penetrating more shots, you would start fewer fires. I noticed that I am starting more fires per HE shell running APCS with Tovey than I was running a IFHE commander. Plus the AP was more effective. This is just an observation with no statistical evidence, though. That is why I asked.
Given your points, what's the optimal American ship to use Thomas Kinkaid and his IFHE+? Or, just ignore and go APCS on everything?

APCS is better for Pan Asian Cruisers (Jinan line)
APCS makes you basically full pen all of the time on DDs so no. APCS
@@Slai47 That makes sense. My thinking was since I fire much much more HE than AP on this line with those pop guns that I might as well be buffing it up.

APCS if you want to deal with BBs and cruisers better in it. IFHE if you want your HE to do great against DDs.
Its like 45-55 IFHE to APCS.
What a out the KGV, default is HE , so i took the HE bonus on my cpt and get routine citadel strikes using only HE.

@@Slai47 and actually have a good wr in it. It got the HE buff not to long ago. People sleep on the ole KGV. Have a lvl 12 cpt in it.
