- A full review of the prestigious 4 star Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, one of the premier hotels in the Lake District. We check out the rooms, the restaurants, the food, the staff, the lounge areas and the general feel of the hotel. The hotel has almost 2000 excellent reviews on TripAdvisor but also almost 200 terrible reviews on the same platform, so who is right? We also look at local walks right from the hotel door, local bus service to Keswick and Buttermere, with bus stops right outside the hotel. The hotel is dog friendly and is also a renowned wedding venue, we look at the impact of both, we also check out the 40 acres of gardens and the 100 foot Lodore Falls waterfall, which is situated within the hotel grounds.
Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa is part of the Lake District Hotel Group, which also includes The Inn on the Lake, The Borrowdale Hotel and in Keswick, it has the Skiddaw Hotel, The Inn on the Square and the Kings Arms, all of which are dog friendly.

The room looks like a studio apartment. That place is beautiful! Whoever designed the furniture placement and paint schemes was top-shelf. I agree about a powerful hot morning shower...Hahaha! A hairdryer, not needed for me, classic brother. Both of ya'll look great and Happy early Birthday to the birthday girl. I love these hotel reviews.

Excellent hotel to stay. The views are stunning. I like your room, very clean and spacious. Nice dining area and foods look great! The surroundings are unbeatable as well! Truly a sight to behold! What a nice treat for Mrs Metalman. Great review Alan!

We were so hungry after watching this! 😂 😋. The food looked absolutely delicious! What a stunning hotel this is! The location is the winner for us, the path around derwentwater is the same one we walked with Pete's mum to take her for afternoon tea at the Lodore. Although we have never been lucky enough to stay over. The rooms looked fabulous and all of the communal areas beautifully clean (as you say hard to believe the bad reviews). Such a lovely treat for Mrs metalmans birthday🎉. This was a fantastic review Alan, very comprehensive. Thanks for sharing😊👍

Looking exceptionally smart Alan, what a wonderful birthday for the very lovely Mrs Metalman! Great tips re. the curtains and the water! The courses look incredible, darn it, im hungry now! The seating areas all look very welcoming. Great views from the room and a very clean and modern bathroom. Oh nice a fridge, thats always handy to have! In good company there with Buffalo Bill! Walked past this place so many times on several different walks, especially when we used to stay in Rose Cottage In Rosthwaite. Rose Cottage can’t hold a candle to this hotel mind! Last time i visited Lodore Waterfalls it was in winter, absolutely throwing it down with snow on the ground. We had the bench and area to ourselves and sat and drank a hot liquor coffee from a flask whilst taking in the magnificent view! Glad you had a great experience! 👍
A real nice treat for her and a nice intro to her upcoming birthday, always nice to stop somewhere special and I remember your valentine afternoon tea in Scarborough too, which looked fabulous. Loved the food there, great view as well and I love the fact we were not rushed, could not believe some reviews complained about slow service, who wants to be rushed in and out at a place like that. Very well deserved getaway. I might need to watch it again as i forgot to scrutinise Mrs Metalman and see if she was wearing jet jewellery..
@@GENerationXplorers - as I remember I think she was wearing the jet ring I bought for her a year ago at Whitby but she had lost the back off the jet earrings I also bought her at the same time. I am terrible for noticing things like that and was in trouble for not noticing she was wearing a different dress on the evening, from what she was wearing in the afternoon lol!
@@AlanMETALMAN oh no, i did the same just yesterday, Jill had been looking for her cardi in the morning and i knew where it was. She then proceeded to wear it all day, at the night time i made the mistake of saying “oh you found your cardi!”

Looking very dapper, Mr Metalman! Mrs. Metalman looked so pretty. OMG, your lunch looked fantastic. Good portion sizes too. What an outstanding hotel. The room was very nicely decorated and spacious, with a lovely view. Fabulous views of Derwent Water - what a gorgeous setting. I put my hand in that water and it was baltic, so no way would I be going in either lol. The hotel was great, we have always wanted to stay there and it did not disappoint, so would love to stay again but will have to wait for another special occasion or special birthday. Really glad you both liked it Alan! We've stayed there about a dozen times over the last 25 years, and never had a single real complaint. Only minor niggle was one time I inadvertently signed the wrong bar slip, and instead of paying for a glass of wine and a pint of coke, it was for two bottles of wine and about 10 pints! When we checked out, I noticed it on the bill, and challenged it. They at first suspected we'd had a load of friends join us for lunch, but after a minute, they knocked it off the bill. Phew!
The only sadness we have about moving to Cumbria is that it won't make sense to stay here anymore, as it'll only be 20 minutes from our house! I can see a few afternoon teas with those views, though!
Oh nice one, what a fab place it was to stay and we had such a good time but for us only a place we could go for a very special occasion. I always pay as I go in these places just in case but to be honest, neither one of us is a big drinker but we do like our food and it was superb there, really enjoyed it. Hi Alan, been looking forward to this review and it did not dissappoint at all. A great film and superb detailed review and so glad you gave it such a high review. The food looked superb as did the bedroom and view. Such a lovely treat for Mrs Metalman, you both looked like you had a lovely stay. It is a very good job you turned round on your walk when you did with the heavens opening. The only downside is that residents have to pay an extra £30.00 each to use the spa for 2 hours, the hotel is expensive enough so it is a bit cheeky to ask for more for the spa which is a shame. Looked superb overall mate, another great hotel review, really enjoyed it. Take care
Totally agree with you Steve and I wanted to film in the Spa and the pool too but when I saw what they wanted and there was a load in as well, all getting their Instagram photos in the infinity pool we did not bother. Ooo this looked so lovely Alan, a lovely birthday treat for Mrs M and she was smiling all the way through ! Its in a very tranquil place and with a waterfall too ! The view from your lunch table looked gorgeous. The Mizoo Asian restaurant sounds great, we would love that as much as a roast dinner. The view over the fells and Derwentwater were beautiful and Buffalo Bill even stayed there 😃Nice that its on a bus route too. That would be a great wedding venue and like you said would be lovely at Christmas. From what you showed, I agree with you and i would be on the side of the 2000 good reviews 🙂👍~ Anna
Oh yes, she was a real happy bunny and such a relaxing and very comfortable stay we had too. Over the years the amount of times we have said we would stop here, so it was so nice to actually do it. Fingers crossed we get the change to stay there again, especially at Christmas as I have previously noticed how beautifully lit up it is in the wintertime. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Oooooo .....I bet that wasn't cheap mate.....Every time we pass there I often think ''if only'' lol. You could not ask for a better location and setting, food looked top-notch mind. The room was plush and big enough for the both of you to walk around without bumping into each other and the lounge,bar, conservatory etc all looked beautiful..........the gardens were also beautifully kept, been to the waterfalls on umpteen occasions so from my point of view no need to show them here. By the way Mrs.Metalman looked splendid in all the photos...........Excellent review Alan, well presented......ATB.....Stu/Wendy. 👍👍 PS made me giggle at the end with all those lovely photographs of your lass looking lovely on her birthday and then you as a younger man in your heavy-metal mode at the end, classic mate...😎😎

Just come back myself from a 2 day break, staying at Riverside Hotel in Betws y Coed. I highly recommend it.
Climbed Snowdon, which was good, but the lakes win hands down.
Also, see that hotel you stayed in when doing the derwentwater water. It looks nice but is very pricey.

That was a very nice hotel in a great location! The property itself had style to it and so did the rooms. I know in America, hotels like this they call them boutique hotel. I'm not sure if you use the same term in the U.K. It's awesome that you have nothing bad to say about this place! I'm glad your stay was wonderful, and thank you so much for sharing.

WOW! Alan that was truly amazing! I’ve so been looking forward to this review since I heard that you were going to do one. The whole place looks an outstanding hotel to be in. You certainly covered most aspects of the Lodore but would have liked peek of the spa and infinity pool. The food looked out of this world and with those views over towards the lake and Catbells what more could anybody want. Must have driven past this hotel thousands of times and always thought I might one day stay there. Now its most definitely on my wish list. Many, many thanks for this film and I very rarely ever give a film 6 Stars but this gets it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was going to go in the Spa as well but it was an additional £30 each for 2 hours and it was packed in the pool so thought I would leave it. To be honest we were having such a good time in the hotel itself, as well as the grounds and the walk to Derwentwater, never gave it a second thought, mind you we just got to the hotel and the heavens absolutely opened and it poured down lol. Lodore Falls looks fantastic ! We were just around the corner climbing Eagle and sergeants crag and managed to miss the rain. I was looking for the beast when we passed.
Have you tried Aphrodite hotel ? We’ve stopped a few times and really love it there.
We can’t wait to try Lodore too, might spend a night there for our honey moon.

It would be a brilliant pace for a honeymoon and for a wedding to be fair as well, they have a lot of them there and use the conservatory for the wedding party so kept separate from all the other guests. Looked a really good hotel Alan in every way, and great views over Derwent Water and Cat Bells. Food made me hungry and looked superb. I think you have to take the tripadvisor reviews with caution as some people just love to complain or find fault. It's the same with our videos, most like them but there's a few out there who always find a grievance! Value for money though is the big issue, I'd say a night there is a lovely treat. Must check the prices as Andrea noted the Spa before and she likes that sort of thing. Congrats to Linda on her birthday, I'm sure you've a few more treats in store! Regards, Ashley
We were wanting to do the Spa as well but it was an extra £30 each for 2 hours and the pool looked really busy, so decided to leave it. It's not cheap and (for us) only a place we would go for a very special occasion but we both had the best time, really enjoyed it and with booking Sunday lunch as well, we were there from about 11.30 in the morning till we checked out at 11.00 the next day, so got our moneys worth. i checked the pricing Alan and it was indeed pricey but the odd splurge is ok!! Sunday lunch was a great idea!!

The food looked amazing and then empty plates say enough for me,
The views were just amazing shame about the spa but most hotels treat them separate.

Great review- what a fab hotel. Wd definitely consider staying at this hotel if in the area.
Tip: change the frame rate on yr camera recording to 25 Frames per Second and banish those pesky flashing lights on some of the internal
Shots. Can only give your video a 9 out if 10 as a result.😉
Yeah the default setting is the American one for lighting, which you can change to the UK one, which would stop that flickering on the lights but only if you film 1080p, 4 or 5K, unfortunately I always film at 2.7K, which for whatever reason you cannot change. Only thing mybe I can guess some put negative, if I understood it was a very good hotel. They were mybe more used to bigger room and mybe missed out the boose in the mini-bar?
