If you look at the definition of derogatory, that term doesn't really fit the bill, yknow. Sort of implies that referring to a group of people by any other term other than the most common one is a slur. Feels like the equivalent of saying " 'mentally handicapped' is a new derogatory slang"

Lenny Bruce was arrested several times in the 60s on obscenity charges, likewise Carlin was arrested after the Seven dirty words bit, Richard Pryor was arrested on stage around the time of Blazing Saddles, cancel culture holds no real power against people whose only crime is upholding their right to free speech. That's why Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Joe Rogan, and many others are uncancellable.

He is from Boston but he moved to New York in his 20s and that's when he started getting big. And he met his now wife.

Oh, Rick Moranis is the guy from Honey I shrunk the kid, Spaceballs as Lord Helmet, and a bunch of family friendly movies in the 80s and 90s till his wife passed away. When that happened he walked away from hollywood to raise his kids. Very respectable and commendable.

You can totally be canceled by one group of yahoos while still being ok with another group. Cancel culture is cancer. It's a bunch of weak willed individuals who cannot accept not everyone thinks the same as them or thinks they're a pretty pretty peach.
As for accountability, which you are conflating here with the nasty nature of people who go out of their way to dox and ruin peoples lives, is a different story. Weinstein was not "cancelled" he was held accountable. People tried to cancel Dave Chapelle because he didn't agree with the mob, that's cancel culture. Doxing people and going out cyber stalking them to get them fired, ruin their relationships, that nasty BS, that's cancel culture. It's not canceling someone when they're legally in the wrong. It is when they said something that chapped your ass and you make a vendetta to hurt them for it while expecting verbal immunity the other way around.

When it comes to giving months to groups of people, I'm down with life threatening diseases that need awareness but that's kinda where I draw the line, if a day is good enough for our fallen soldiers it should be good enough for everyone else. Bill Burr is this generation's George Carlin. Makes you laugh, but is so on point and true. Only thing with Bill is, sometimes he takes you somewhere you weren't thinking before connecting the dots to make sense, and people don't like being called out. He's smarter than his own good sometimes. Gotta love him for it.

Bill Burr is uncancelable because he himself has never done anything wrong, everyone with a brain understands that when he says "wrong shit" it's for a purpose, and he has that ability to make almost everyone understand that it's funny and true. I mean bill was born in Massachusetts but he moved to New York in 1994 and was there during 9/11 so he was already there 7 years before 9/11 happened after 9/11 happened if you were living in New York I would consider you a New Yorker, he also continued to live there so what he says (we) he' definitely a New Yorker. To be honest it's a bit sad seeing the likes of Dave Chapelle and Bill go on SNL they are so beyond the hacks that call themselves comedians on that show now. It was a different story back in the late 70's when SNL was edgy and subversive and great comedians like Carlin and Pryor hosted plus the audience on SNL now is so politically correct that they don't even appreciate great comics like Dave or Bill.
