Genuinely what is he on about until then? I heard words but what the hell is any of it? Had to dislike the video for the ridiculous fluff, sorry Way bois
This entire interview is everything my former emo heart has ever wanted. This is the interview you wanted every single fucking band you loved to have. An interviewer who clearly like the artist, who is open himself to help the band open up, doesn't judge, asks intriguing questions, and wants to discuss a single note or single lyrics in a song for 10 fucking minutes. This is THE interview. The best interview you could never even ask for.
29:55 *Gerard talking about their first music video* Gerard: Our first I guess like major label video where you show up and there's like trucks with lights and there's people running around with headsets and stuff. That was Not Okay." Kevin: that-you didn't like it? Gerard: No no no, that was the name of the song. (laughing) Kevin: oh (laughter) hahahahaha.
when gerard says that he was never interested in being some sort of "savior" i started sobbing because he and mcr literally saved the lives of so many people
Hearing what went through Gerard and Mikey's heads as they wrote the most influential song that I've ever heard is a gift. This has been my favorite song since I first heard it and still it to this day. If I could tell them anything, it would be thank you. Because I am so incredibly happy to be able to understand the creative process of this song. God, I'm fucking stoked! This is amazing.
it fucks me up that they wrote tbp when they were 24-27 and I was like 15, but now i'm 26 and i'm just blown away because it still sounds like they were so much older. i've been missing them recently
Ugh, these fucking interviews. I cried and laughed and... It really touched me. Completely changed my entire perspective on their lives and even the song. I will now carry those things with a different mindset. Just, fuck, beautiful.
The episodes of the shows they talk about in the order they are mentioned: Ghost Train:Amazing Stories Shatterday: Twilight Zone (80's) The Mission: Amazing Stories The Odds: Tales From The Dark Side A Little Peace and Quiet: Twilight Zone (80's)
I so love that Kevin Smith is such a Gerard Way super fan! (And MCR) But he just _gushes_ over Gee all the time! He was the one who brought the Joe Rogan cousin thing to light. He made Gerard sit on a throne because he finds him adorable. He has had him on his podcast, TV show, and RUclips comic show. He’s called him fascinating amongst 1,000 other compliments. Smith is just Gee’s #1 fan FOREVA and I’m here for it lol
After the shows they kept in touch and Kevin asked Gerard to sing over the end credits of his film Tusk ruclips.net/video/nHu2YemwXLM/видео.html beautiful
I feel so blessed for once that I am older and was able to see this band 5 times. The energy at their shows was indescribable, I will never forget. Been a fan since Bullets and i will be a fan until the day that i die.
MCR only went on for 4 months after this was posted and towards the end of the interview they talk as if it's already over. Eerie how they seemed to all know it was over by then. Around this time is when I was getting into them as well rip my heart
The best parts of the interview was when Gerard was talking about finding humor in the absurdity of the god comparison, and when Mikey coined a new meaning for "code of silence."
i specificly remember the day 12 12 12 so thats funny to me those two thingss happened at the same time. unfortunatly i wasnt thaaat into mcr in 2012 i wouldve gone to a concert

I was the idiot who didn’t like My Chem… and I’m BIG into interviews with people from culture (mainly musicians or producers), and I look for the through lines or symmetry to the logic.. god this one makes me SO happy 🤣👏🏼 Both parts are SUCH a good time 🙌🏼🤣🤝 Logic always says, “Eternally yours,” and for this I say I’m Eternally grateful.
haha 29:59 "...and there's people running around with headsets, and stuff, that was not ok" "That... you didn't like it?" "No, no, no, no that.... that was the name of the song"
1:34:00 so wait. did mikey just say that the code of silence is that you can't tell if you're straight or gay, after gerard had just said he'd been on the code of silence for a while? *what???*
Mikey was joking but its basically asexuality. Gerard was saying he was tired of relationships and was done with people. I've certainly been there after rough breakups.
It's funny, the way that Kevin Smith found MCR is almost exactly the same as how I found them, but in a totally different fandom -- I first heard Welcome to the Black Parade in a Doctor Who multi-Doctor fanvideo, and that's when I fell in love with the song and subsequently MCR. . I can definitely relate to having different associations with the song, like "disappointed faces of your peers" I first heard with the Master and the Rani glaring at the Doctor, for example. But I mean trying to be "the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned" and yet still saying "I'm not a hero" is pretty spot on for the Doctor. . But yeah, I was relating a lot to him in this interview because I've come to understand and love this song and this band on a whole deeper level since then, but yet I still have that foundation of that being where that song came to me from and it always having some of those associations to it. . Also I find it pretty cool that Gerard likes Doctor Who and I hope someday he sees the fanvid that brought me to his band :)
Ok, I just watched the first interview ( I know I'm late) and I was laughing so much, and I felt bad with certain parts. But I must've sounded crazy laughing in the dark in my room lol🤣this interview is the best, the way brothers are so open, and the interviewer was absolutely great. I didn't think I could listen for that long... but time just flew by. I'm excited to watch part 2☺️☺️I love these two, they're very refreshing as well as the host❤️☺️
okay but in the beginning when theyre talking about the g.i.joe episode where the guy goes into the future and sees what would happen if they didnt continue to fight and like how theyre all dead reminds me so much of the umbrella academy i wonder if gee took inspiration from that
57:30 i love this part of the conversation so much. It makes me feel so much better about being in my 20s. To know im not alone with what im going through
I really loved this interview so much, but I don't think Kevin Smith realizes that he's not that much older than them... He kept going on and on about how adorable they are and that his KID had permission to marry one of them when Gerard is only seven years younger than him... And if Kevin is 42, then his kid couldn't possibly be any older than maybe 18 or 19... So that was a little weird...
This has beeoy favorite interview from my favorite band, but between the three of these men they said the word, ''like'' 508 times in Part II of the interview over 2 + hours XD. Love these guys
I love how when Kevin Smith says "you can be stoned and watch it" and you hear Gerard or Mikey kinda quietly go "yeah" lol that combined with sounding stoned at times through this one and the previous one. XD bet that's why they couldn't do video lmao "Code of Silence" can't say if you're straight or gay.. then Gerard's "I had a few years of that" lmfao that and then Mikey * whispers* "I'm stoned and I forgot"
The episode of twilight zone he’s talking about reminds me of original twilight zone where the guy has an argument with his own reflection and the reflection convinced him to switch places
I’ve always been comfortable with the concept of death and the a couple months ago out of nowhere it really freaked me out so hearing them all say it’s just kinda a thing for early to mid 20’s and it kinda goes away is nice to know
It's so funny to hear them be like "yea we said summer because idk, parades happen in the summer" when I was out here trying to come up with deep bs justifications
I WENT BACK AND LISTENED TO THE ORPHANS IN THE VMA PERFORMANCE AND ITS SO FUNNY IT SOUNDS LIKE THE “number one victory royale, yeah fortnite we bout to get down” KID IN THE BACKGROUND AND ITS SO FUNNY

I could happily listen through these three guys have a two hour discussion for each and every MCR song! Fantastic.
"Being in your 20s was basically close to death."
