Gilles, I have a few SBX-11A radios, and the 2 frequencies on the ones I have are 4.963 and 4.977. These were used for Northern Ontario as far as I recall. 73 Fred VE3FAL

I heard one of these bush radiotelephone conversations about three or four years ago. The frequency used was in the vicinity of 5240, 5250 kHz as I recall. Not sure if what I was hearing was truly R. Alma. But there were phone-like conversations in Québécois French for sure. I, like you, recall the days when remote far northern areas were using HF as the sole means of contact with the rest of the world, with R. Alma being quite active back before 1990 or so.

Anchorage Alaska has a short SSB 60m net (in cooperation) with US Homeland Security the last Saturday of each month at 1000 local / 1800 UTC. 5167.5MHz USB. About 30 check-ins. I still use my Spilsbury SBX (Green) all the time and monitor the same 5167.5 Occasionally I pick up hunting parties out of northern Canada. Its there but minimally compared o the late 1970's - just gotta listen.
