my dad bought me and my brother a pair of cb walkie talkies which unfortunately had channel 9 or 11 and everytime we tried to use it we got ran off the airwaves, later discovered our neighbor husband used the bands as he was a volunteer fireman. So years later my brother and I bought a pair of 2 watt units and carried them on our trips in the mountains on hikes, did a week one at mount lassen volcano and was super fun. Got my first CB License at age 16 I believe
One of the very first experiences with shortwave radio was having a set of small walkie-talkies like this. One day one was dropped by accident and soon after that I started hearing some SW international interference, notably from the VOA and RCI. Some walkie-talkies were labeled MacDonald and others were called Sargent G3. They were all fairly similar and small.

I have some similar to those right now. I can't really use them, so I'm giving them to a charity shop. Maybe somebody else can have fun with them.
