Piledriver: The Rock and Wrestling Radio Show
Bret Hart: The Hit Man, The Excellent of Execution, The Best there ever was, is and ever will be.
Bret is under a Dr’s care. Will not be cleared to wrestle until late 2000. Bret is over the worst of
the concussion, his headaches are gone. The Dr. who is treating him treats NHL players and their concussions.
In the year 2000, Concussion research is behind the times. Concussions still not understood. Bret helping with concussion research with his case. He cannot get in the ring until November or December 2000.
Bret Hart was injured wrestling Bill Goldberg on December 19, 1999 during a botched kick essentially ending his career. (in March of 2020, Bret said Bill Goldberg was the most dangerous wrestler he’s ever faced. “You might as well wrestle a gorilla”. Bill to this day still feels badly about Bret’s injury. Injury affected Bret’s life immensely.
Bret Hart: When Piledriver talked with Bill Goldberg, we asked if he ever really trusted anyone in the ring he said, “No”.
Goldberg did tell Bret after the kick injury that Bret was the only wrestler who was true to his word. Bret says Goldberg for as big and popular as he is, he still lacks experience.
We talk about Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff and how at first in WCW and WWF they got good reviews early and then lost the audience. It cooled off and people became unhappy.
Bret says, “wrestling is wacky”. Industry relies on swerve. Enthusiasm for wrestling has waned.
He doesn’t see much “wrestling” Story lines aren’t working. Mentions Owen Hart story lines and Vince McMahon as being the best ever. Bro vs Bro stories are timeless.
He loved Ricky Steamboat matches and said today wrestlers, “twirl like gazelles”.
Bret Hart: Who he considers “great”. Despite his injuries and his feelings he said, “Bill Goldberg”. (huh?) He’s raw. Loves Chris Benoit, likes “The Rock”.
Three things make a great wrestler.
    1. The Look
    2. The Mic
    3. The Work
Hulk Hogan had a great “Look” as does “The Rock.”
The Mic Work Loves Hulk Hogan there and Bret loves his own work on the mic and “The Rock”.
    Most important: Work.
Hogan was not a good worker. Bret likes his own work and “The Rock’s”. Bret mentions Ricky Steamboat, Bob Orton and Curt Hennig. They knew how to create LEAD in matches. So did Adrian Adonis and Roddy Piper. Steve Austin works HARD.
    Al Isaacs
WWF Report: Undertaker character is confusing; he is supposed to be dead, a zombie.
Now he is a biker. He used to enter the ring in a hearse, now it’s a motorcycle. No more Urn. He’s not dead. He’s not the Undertaker if he’s not dead.
ECW Report: Events of misfortune often happen in threes. Recently it’s raining misfortune in ECW. Talent Leaving, injuries, TNN Deal dying over ratings. And now in July 2000. Viking Hall or the ECW Arena is shutting its doors.
WCW Report: Is Goldberg supposed to be a heal? NO Fans love him too much. Even after he took out Hacksaw Jim Duggan. How does he become a heal? Change it up, new music, new moves? Goldberg has to buy in and want to be a heal.
    Otis Brawl: The Speculum.
Shane McMahon forming his own faction with posse being Chris Benoit, Edge, Christian, Kane and Perry Saturn. These guys setting up to battle The Rock, Y2J, Undertaker, and Mick Foley.
Summer Slam rumor Hardy’s will take the tag team belt. Too Cool and Rakishi feud coming up
Booker T and Jeff Jarrett will battle at New Blood Rising.
WCW may split Nitro and Thunder are being written by two separate teams.
Scott Hall being paid $16,000 a week to stay home. May retire.
Vampiro ready to record music with Insane Clown Posse. ECW moving to LA?
Spike getting together with Balls Mahoney.
Listener Calls: Philadelphia, San Antonio, Franklin Mass., Dallas, Norfolk Va., Rockford Ill. Listeners threaten Kodiak Bear.
Candy’s Corner: Lex and Liz Lex Lugar with Ms. Elizabeth. Gorgeous George back in ECW her porno going for $51 on Ebay
Tammy Sitch according to Chris Candido passed drug test. Chris healing from injury. Who are these new WWF Twins? Diane and Elaine coming to WWF soon. Nitro Girl Spice will become an announcer. Rena Mero in Fitness Magazine and Muscle.
This weeks Piledriver: Kodiak….. Booker T who is from Houston’s South Park neighborhood. Youngest of 8. He was on his own at age 14. Started his career in Texas as GI Bro. He had a tag team with his brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat.
Razz……. XPAC I was hoping he would turn on Triple H and cause chaos.
Freak…… Double J Jeff Jarrett. Best tag line ever: “SLAP NUTS”. Better than Honky Tonk Man except for the smashing of the guitar over Slap nuts heads.
