Beautifully done, Sir! That run at the 1:38 mark… how on earth did Wes do that with his thumb?

Rod, thanks for this my man! I had transcribed the first half of the solo up to those double time lines then dropped it for a while til I decided to revisit it again. I came across your video and worked out some bugs in my transcription with this and started the second half. Anyways, we all need help with this jazz stuff at times! Keep up the great work and playing!

Have you by chance tabbed this out? Particularly the double time sections? Have been working on this solo off and on over the last year. So good!

Hello...Thanks for watching and subscribing! Honestly, when it comes to notating solos. I generally use standard notation instead of tablature. But, I generally do not write most of these transcriptions. I simply slow them down for viewers to see in hopes that it will make sense. I would encourage you to practice the double time part slow and work it up to speed...once you nail that part the rest of the solo will be easy for you!

@@RodHarrisJr thanks! I've got the first several bars to that point. I know the jazz thing is to use standard notation and study the classic lines from Omnibooks. I need to get in that habit and get back on my lessons with Ted Ludwig. Check him out on YT. He is a monster player. He curates a jazz thing here in Memphis that has brought in Tim Lerch, and is scheduled to bring in Peter Bernstein.

Hello I am Niels Anderson from Amsterdam Netherlands and I will definitely put all my skills in action to be able to play this short part in the solo when he dubbele’s up and then play’s what is it 16th notes but since there’s a dubble syncope above that means as far as I know those notes should be played as a quadrole little like the triole are three 8th notes having to be played on the space of two 8th note’s but I’D like to see you play the whole beginning all the chord progressions with the melody on top I fairly know how to play that piece but it would be wonderful to see you doing it ?? Pretty please And while you are at it show me how to play how insensitive

    • @RodHarrisJr

Lowkey...Thanks for watching! Wes is actually using a few different scales but mostly focused on playing melodies through the chord changes of the song. For video lessons and tutorials and even requests consider becoming a member of my Patreon www.patreon.com/RHJGUITAR
