    This could be a game changer for people on a budget! I'm new to e-shifting and I love it! Didn't know it was necessary until I had it. Maybe something I get for my Izzo. I'm not so much on a budget, I'm just cheap! Ha! It looks like a legit product. Can't wait to see the review out on the trails.

    Given that I have had a few 11 speed XT derailleurs distroyed by branches/sticks thrown up into the back wheel and snapping them, why would I go for an over prices electronic novelty. For that price I can buy four maybe five XT M8000 11-speed derailleurs and never worry about a battery going flat. In the last six years I've only needed to replace one stainless cable inner for the exprberdent cost of... $12.

      It is just another option. I too have had great luck with mechanical but it is fun to use this version too

      I've been in the same boat and then bought a Rival AXS eTap equipped gravel bike and changed my mind instantly. Shifting ease, speed and consistency literally changed the way I ride undulating terrains. Cleaner looking bike too. These derailleurs are tough too. Bent hangers? Sure. But I'm yet to destroy my first derailleur and I've been riding mtb for 35 years now.

    Looking forward to how it shifts on the trails. I've been E-shift curious for awhile, but never pulled the trigger on one cuz of the extremely high price tag.

    If you were to put this on your Aventon Ramblas, what size cage would you get? Asking for myself!

    I have one of these WheelTop on a Box 9 system and it's great! It is a bummer that you can't get American stock and it has to come from overseas. But it does work nice and is a great solution for bikes with the STUPID headset cable routing.

      @MountaineerFPV in my opinion your paying for no questions asked warranty with Sram. I purchased new brake levers because they seized and the bike shop said I shouldn't have bought them because sram would have sent new ones out for free.
      It's zort of like paying extra for a Santa Cruz frame knowing you get lifetime warranty. Although santacruz do contest warranty claims.

      Why would the number of bikes impact how each bike handles shifting?

  • @Jeckyll4e
    @Jeckyll4e 13 дней назад

    Never seen someone to adjust B screw on the bottom of the cassette. Even WT manual says it must be adjusted while on largest sprocket.
    btw adjusting limits screws that may cause RD to fail to shift to largest/smallest cog, since it will hit the screw and will back to previous gear. Loose them adjust every gear if needed and then tighten them until barely touch. They don't do much here and are just safeguard, not like mechanical RD.

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  13 дней назад

      Typically you would adjust it from the largest cog. However I just added tension to the chain and got it within 4mm of the bottom cog. It shifts very smooth after adjusting it this way. Sometimes I find this to be the best place to start when messing with a RD. Then testing the shifting. If it shifts good then you are done. As for the H L screws this is how I do it for all my bikes and it seems to work well. I am sure there are better ways but this has worked for me both wireless and mechanical. It might not be by the book but I am ok with that.

    • @ozymatic3291
      @ozymatic3291 13 дней назад

      You will damage the motor in the derailleur, limit screws are only used here to stop a technical breakdown if it tries to add a gear and throw your chain. I don’t even have mine screwed in.

    • @Jeckyll4e
      @Jeckyll4e 13 дней назад

      @@RunBikeMike I understand what you do, but ... seconds later you state, that you have to be careful when you shift to largest cog to not allow RD jockey to touch the cassette. Which is exactly why B screw must be adjusted on largest sprocket which guarantee it will never happen. Anyway I don't find B screw adjustment on EDS OX to be so important like on mechanical RD. It works fine on much larger diapason. But it can be only me ...
      As for limit screws, not much more to say. If you let RD to reach limit screw for some reason, you just put motor under stress which in my opinion is not a good thing.

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  12 дней назад

      @Jeckyll4e I was simply saying to watch it the 1st time you shift to make sure it doesn’t hit. If it does then you can adjust it more or adjust it off of the large gear. But if it works as is then no need to go through it. I don’t really know about the high low screws messing with the motor. I am simply adjusting it the way that has worked best for me and sharing my experience is all.

    Looking good but I wouldn't really consider this a budget alternative given the fact you can get the GX Eagle AXS kit for roughly the same price. It's around 100 EUR cheaper than Sram's GXS AXS Transmission version. And honestly, I'd choose having to charge this weekly over additional battery weight any day. I really wish they went with a superlight removable battery and make this even more suitable for rough mtb use. I use Sram's Rival AXS on my gravel bike and literally only need to buy the derailleur and the controls for my mtb as I can use the same battery and charger. Being able to take the battery off and charge it independently is super convenient and a big advantage in my book.

    • @ynie1
      @ynie1 11 дней назад

      Where would AXS upgrade kit be ~$360? In the US, it's around $580, I got mine for $425, and I thought that was a good deal. Also, no company can have a removable battery outside of SRAM; it would be considered as patent infringement from SRAM. Campy does have sort of a removable battery for their road groupset, but they are not interchangeable like SRAM.

    • @gofras
      @gofras 11 дней назад

      @@ynie1 I've seen Sram GX AXS upgrade kits go for as low as 420 EUR here in Europe. Retail price for the Wheeltop EDS-OX YQ MTB is 400 EUR. There might be bigger differences depending on the market, of course. As for the patent - not exactly true. Although Sram holds patents for their specific design and implementation of removable batteries, that doesn't automatically mean other manufacturers can't make derailleurs with removable batteries. They just need to design the system that isn't an exact copy.

    • @SwordFighterPKN
      @SwordFighterPKN 10 дней назад

      Why would you want to be sucked and stuck in Sram world? The EDS lets YOU pick who's cassette you want not Sram. i run the EDS on a Box 9 cassette can't do that with a Sram electronic system.

    • @gofras
      @gofras 10 дней назад

      @@SwordFighterPKN There are definitely pros and cons to both options. I'm not saying the EDS is bad. As someone who already owns a bike with a Sram AXS system, I'll pick a relatively cheap AXS upgrade for my other bike. If you're building a new bike from scratch, keeping the options what drivetrain to use open is a huge plus with EDS. Sram's derailleurs have slightly more cage tension than EDS. I also find their option to remove the battery highly beneficial. If you're stuck on a trail with an empty battery, the EDS equipped bike will be pretty much useless. With Sram you simply use the spare one. That is assuming you carry one with you :). With EDS you don't have to worry about mounting the battery on. But you need an electrical outlet near your bike. Then again, you can tweak individual gear changes - something you can't (yet) do with Sram. Etc.
      EDS is certainly a very welcome addition and I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs longterm. I just wouldn't call it "an insane price" alternative. Slightly cheaper, yes, and better in some regards, but not all of them.

    • @SwordFighterPKN
      @SwordFighterPKN 10 дней назад +1

      @gofras what you gave there is all fair. I have mine on a ebike so making sure things are charged is just done. I have no usage for the Sram 12 speed , I prefer 9 speed of Box 9, but I get why you lean towards Sram. Yes the clutch could be better on the EDS.

  • @Andy-co6pn

      Bingo!
      I agree. I think AXS GX is for OEM but retail is just a little gravy to get it out there before OEMs put it their 2026 mid market production bikes.
