So well put. Them days was the best days ever ! ! I was 15 & here in Aotearoa we were in the midst of the British Invasion. Stunning & shocking the establishment in every way we could . Great sing along songs from talented bands/singers such as this.. Way way better than the garbage churned out today, that can not even compare to this.. Oh & don't forget those 45's , L.P's & our faithful transistor radios constantly attached to our ears ... Peggy wood

    "Blackberry Way"
    (originally by The Move)
    Blackberry Way
    Absolutely pouring down with rain
    It's a terrible day
    Up with a lark
Silly girl I don't know what to say
    She was running away
So now I'm standing on the corner
Lost, in the things that I say
What am I supposed to do now-w
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
    I can't see you
    I don't need you
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
Sure to want me back another day
    Gone to the park
Overgrowing but the trees are bare
    There's a memory there
    Boats on the lake
Unattended now, they're all to drown
    I'm incredibly down
Just like myself they are neglected
Turn, with my eyes to the war
What am I supposed to do now-w
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
    I can't see you
    I don't need you
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
Sure to want me back another day
    Run for the train
Look behind you for she may be there
Say I think you're the girl
    Blackberry Way
See the battlefields of care or sins
    Cast to the winds
So full of accidents without her
Lost in the words that I said
What am I supposed to do now-w
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
    I can't see you
    I don't need you
    Goodbye Blackberry Way
Sure to want me back another day
Sure to want me back another day

They were big in the UK - seeing as they were British! They had seven Top 10 hits (including Blackberry Way, which got to No. 1). Two of their members also went on to have great success with other bands - Jeff Lynne (with E.L.O.) and Roy Wood (with Wizzard).

Have you heard of The Idle Race, they had a little-known guitarist and song writer going by the name of Jeff Lynne? Disillusioned by his lack of success in the 1960's with The Idle Race. In February 1970, Jeff Lynne joined The Move after being invited to join twice by Roy Wood.
Between them they created the Electric Light Orchestra, a novelty act with cello's and a violin that went on to become one of the world's largest stadium fillers of the 1970's.

Roy Wood said the inspiration for the lyrics was a soldier returning home to find his love had left him.
If Carl WAyne does not look like he's putting much into the vocals . . . it was mimed. And it is obviously Roy's voice! Carl refused to sing it - I don't think he could handle the high notes.

Don't troll. If some fool has nothing better to do, then they would be rather pathetic and simple minded. It's like saying modern trash isn't trash. Or better yet, top 40 is toneless, compressed, boring, uncool, etc. Which it bloody well is. TY. Cheers.🍺
