I was in 8th standard that time and also watched the whole match. I rememberd that even Australian media criticized the Australian team. You exactly give the words to my feelings.
I was just 3 at that time

I was in 9th standard and i was heartbroken and full of angry.
I was in grade 4 at that time.
I still believe we would have definitely won Sydney test and series 2-1. Even if all decisions went against us in the first 3 innings, the worst thing could have happened was a draw. I remember how good Dravid was looking in this test and also appreciation to Sachin & Laxman for their centuries. In the first innings he made decent 53 and was looking to create another wall in his 2nd innings. It was the same match in which Dravid took 40 balls to make his next run. He was doing what was he best known for that is frustrate the bowler before going for the kill but Steve Bucknor had some different plans he gave Dravid caught out when the ball was miles away from his bat.

Lots of ifs and buts. India's pride and anger made them win Perth test. Who knows had we won Sydney test. Aussie came back hard and won Perth test. Anything could have happened. Ifs and buts don't make any sense.

How are Australians to be blamed for umpires mistakes? If anything, the standard of umpiring these days in every game has been equally bad, if not worse. I don't see other teams feeling aggrieved or excessively cry feeling they have been wronged. So, taste your salty tears mate and toughen up.

And don't even get me started on bucknor. He should have been banned from umpiring at international level and especially india's matches.

But now we have the best ever Bowling line up of the Indian Team... But now We are missing that Magic in the Batting Department so the Whole Scenario which Used to happen earlier has Become vice Versa now or Batsman are sometimes more depending on the Bowling Line up to Deliver and win it for India when the Batting Line up Fails to put up a Winning total

I don't understand why Steve batnagar was so keen in giving Indian players out without discretion. Was australia bribed the umpires. Otherwise all three umpires would not have been decided to to defeat India. Even the Australian team , the captain, management and senior players have not spoke a word on the decision of the umpires. Surprising. Any the world watched the game on that day including me. This remains a permanent black mark on their game victory specially on the players who still continue to play the game. Symonds, clark and pointing were big cheats. Buck or had never been a good umpire. Once Ganguly in his capacity as captain had given Bucknor after the series a zero. He gave Tendulkar on many occasion out where no one could have given him out. It appeared that he was zealous of Tendulkar. The Australian team led by Ricky Ponting can never be considered great and will go in the history as only cheats.

But Ponting not able to win either MI nor DC. Because lots of DRS and other technology is available. He cannot do any cheating coaching IPL. He left MI with garbage batting and captaincy followed by brilliant batting and captaincy to win that IPL and 4 more later. There are many other greats who played with gamesmanship unlike ponting. He played for revenge and aggression and not for pride and honour. Ganguly is much much sharper than ponting.

With DRS, Ganguly or Dravid would have been better wining record. We all seen many umpires in the past biased towards Indian players.
