"Dont i deserve the world... after building building building building!? You dangle happiness before me, yet keep it out of reach My well is dry, and still i try to fill it up i seek and seek and... Nothing lasts except the empty, swallowing my soul But i will rise above the world, and i will fill my holes" I love these lyrics ;)
remember seeing this often on tvu when i was 12-13 and loving these guys and their energy/delivery/music all around. im 25 now and they've stuck with me all these years, i've only recently started re-listening to all those tvu songs, showbread are hidden gems for sure.
Trust me I heard a lot of dark metal songs but this song is one of the most dark, most hateful, most terrifying, most depressive, most angry, very experimental and catchy at the same time. That is a very rare combination of feelings. One of my favorite songs of all time.
I actually saw them one time when Who can know it came out, my brother listened to them alot, and I eventually became a huge fan. It was so long ago I hardly remember it but I remember meeting Josh
It is a story. There are actually two of them. One is from the CD Anorexia about the girl Anorexia who tries to build a tower because she thinks if she does she will have the felling of fulfillment. While she is building she meets a vulture, pig and goat. They attack her. The CD comes with a story that you read along with. Nervosa is about her sister who has pretty much the same story and the songs have the same title, but different lyrics. Nervosa tries to dig a massive hole into the earth.
it's kinda like a read-along that goes with the music.... it's absolutely incredible, and i would even say that it's life changing.... i think that everyone can see themselves in the character of either Anorexia or Nervosa... as Christians, we all have to come to the same place of surrender, wether we spent our lives doing good or making mistakes... that's basically the story in one sentance... :)
A great show of both sides in a person...and their interactions with each other. One to heal and help, yet blend in while ever reaching to become better...this one also has a fury unbound when it comes to making the other submit. The other is flashy and stands out, what we might call gaudy, but is in truth frightened by the idea of having to suffer to become better as a person, seen in example by the first as she is garbed in a nurse's cloth, which is not normally noticeable to most poeple...
Every time I listen to this song in the dark it scares me and I feel really strange. Especially when he starts screaming after the pigs squealing. You HAVE to do the story thing before you listen to the songs off of Anorexia and Nervosa. It's so intense.
when i read anorexia and listened to it- when josh screamed, and it was mayhem music. it really spoke the feeling of the story. in "the end" especially, when anorexia was admitting defeat, that the tower didnt find her happyness, they heavyness was the anger and voice inside her screaming out in frustration. thats what i saw in it. beautiful album
It describes the creeping feeling after you've realized everything you've put yourself physically and psychologically wasn't enough for a being that acts as a black hole, sucking your life force, desires, aspirations, while giving pain in return and leaves you feeling overwhelmed with broken nothingness. You didn't realize how much you'd given and at what cost until you find yourself lost in the darkest corners of your mind, rock bottom in the muggy, thick waters of the aftermath, struggling to breathe and pushing against an unseen current that threatens to plunge you into an unknown abyss of soul crushing psychological torment.
I got both albums for Christmas & I read the stories...they were really good & both of the endings made me cry...oh yeah...thanx for letting me know why she was choking her...it really makes sense now ^__^
each album is about a sister one is Anorexia and the other Nervosa. Each tells a story about the sister. I have both of them and they are really great albums is worth the money if you have more questions just watch my showbread video sort of will help you

dude.i love how deiferant the anorexia version sounds from the nervosa one. they are so differant i remember when i first saw "the pig". it was like all yelling and jumping and then this one comes i thought they named it wrong then i saw it was from the anorexia album. i think i like the anorexia version better.
Or buy it at a shop? Sounds like a good idea to me. Plus, this CD [Double Album Release] actually contains more in the cd packet thing + the music. Its awesome shet dudes.
alright i guess that makes sense, but it seems like a lot of it is for shock value. like the album names and the song names. i like the music dont get me wrong but it just seems a little weird.
Holy poopdeck I thought you got rid of the keytarist and I was deaply angered. But then I just saw this and noticed he just doesn't have a mullet anymore... R.I.P. keystarists mullet =(
Of course...my opinion only. I do not count myself as being the only correct perspective, just thought I'd throw something out there for people to think over if they want. ^_^

I’ve been searching for this song for over 10 years. So happy to be able to revisit again!
Only Josh can capture that Trent Reznor presence. It's unreal
I wish i could go to their concert. That was my dream since I was 16. I miss you Showbread.

I never listened to them at the time but I was in/around the scene. This is still powerful as a first time listener in 2023
Anorexia/Nervosa is the best CD they ever wrote.
Never heard this song before. Very powerful.
2019, and the intro is still a cryptic song I hum to myself at times...if asked, I direct them here.
Noice to see people still listen to Showbread. I wish they were more popular

this is par the usual quality that Showbread brings. Amazing video, love that it's self-directed. It captures the nature of the split-albums nicely.
I saw these guys live and met them last year. They are great people, and put on an amazing show.
