PBBMarcos highlights the importance of UNCLOS as a key element of the so- called rules- based international order. The irony and hypocracy is the fact that the Philippines' main ally, the USA, HAS NOT ratified UNCLOS. The other lynchpin of his remarks is the 2016 Arbitral Award, which is null and void, since the People's Republic of China is not a party to it. The PRC, in participating in UNCLOS, specifically opted out of third party arbitration regarding territorial sovereignty and maritime delimitation in reference to Article 298 of UNCLOS. China, IMHO, was correct in not participating in the arbitration, on this basis. China has solid historical claims of sovereignty in the South China Sea. The Philippines claim to have discovered islands in the Sprayleys is fraudulent, since these archipelagic islands have been frequently visited by Chinese fishermen for hundreds of years before the Philippines claim and there is plenty of historical evidence of this fact. PBBMarcos is merely parroting the USA' s rules- based B S, a complete nonsense. Shameful that this son of the thief- in- chief F. Marcos is making the Philippines a vassal of the USA, the perpetuator of so much desth and destruction in many parts of the world and complicit in the g eno cide of Palestinians.
