Thanks for highlighting the real world of a UX designer. I’m a Product Design manager and see a lot really bad case studies that came from boot camps or generic templates of their “Design Process”. Even a newer designer can stand out from the rest by solving a real problem using design. Keep making great videos. -a new fan
I graduated my bootcamp in 2020. Took an eCommerce manager job for 3 years, and in April of this year I landed a UX Designer job with a very well known bank. I make the higher end of that range (and I doubled my previous salary) and when I say the competition is steep, it’s STEEP
Thankfully I’m on a team of designers so the workload is manageable but omg yes to a lot of meetings!! I have to block out time in my days to make time for the actual designing 🤣
@@mrjulian.m I was only really hardcore job hunting for the last 6 months of my previous position but I would say I applied to at least 100-150 jobs during that time period.

One small, respectful critique: the noise you have paired with the text and images that swoop in is irritatingly loud compared to your kind, soft-spoken voice, especially for those who may be more noise sensitive. If I turn the volume down, I can't hear you talk but turning it up makes that noise much more invasive and it's a bit off-putting. Perhaps there are other, softer noises to pair text and images with that match your nice voice? Again, thank you for your content!

I'm trying to make a logical plan to move from technical writing to UX Writing. I've done a lot of the planning of personas, customer journeys, and customer testing. Although my favorite part is anything about words on the app whether it be labels, tooltips, onboarding screens, error messages, and help integration. So, I'm pushing towards m UX Writer classes first and getting a portfolio together. Then, i need to figure out whether I'm fulfilled with that career or want to continue to a UX/UI program. At a minimum, I'm pretty sure I'll do the Google Certificate. I'm in Colorado also. Is the meetup group virtual or physical?

Course to get a job and they land jobs fairly easily. Granted the sales industry needs of more Representatives so it's easier to get into that type of thing. I'm hoping the case will be the same for me and their UI/UX Design course despite the adversity brought on by the shift in the tech industry. Once I complete it I'll comeback with an update 😁!

Thank you for your kind words! I would say as an HR exec, you probably are very good and talking with people and empathizing with them, which is a necessary skill to be a designer. I would recommend trying out a free UX course and see how you like it.
Companies hire you to work. Boo Hoo! It is not paid playtime. You need to be a combination of artist, psychologist (who can do statistically valid scientific analysis of people), software engineer, editor and marketer. You will be judged by sales. I'm sure this job will continue to evolve rapidly, so be good at learning.

Hey! I think it depends on your level of comfort. You have to do a fair about of presenting your work, whether you are doing ux or graphic design. I would still do it because I like it, I just have to mentally prepare a bit more for tasks that I know might be challenging to my introvert side.
I would look into some free beginner level UX courses to see how you like it and then from there decide if you want to learn officially through a bootcamp or be self-taught. Thank you for watching!
I’ve been a UX designer for 10 years. It’s dead. I graduated with a computer science degree and know how to code. All of us with any technical skills like coding have bailed out and taken on careers in UX engineering. No offense but boot camps are trash. It’s destroying the industry and making it generic. So what happens next? The salaries will inevitably collapse. If there’s too many people, the demand for talent drops and salaries fall.
Don't be! You are making an investment in yourself and learning great marketable skills. The industry is tough but you can absolutely make it in, especially since you are aware of it already. You got this!
I'm working on an associate's degree in UX and spend at least 1500 a semester! I have no social life because I both work and attend school full-time. If this doesn't work, I've wasted years of my life. There is no other option to succeed! lol Plus I want to continue in school and work on my bachelor's, which I can only afford if I get a design job.

It's a tough question, I think AI will be a great tool for designers but I would make sure to keep up with industry in case that ever changes.
