Oh goodness, I've got that Logitech TrackMan Portable clip on trackball mouse in its original beige housing and it's horrible. It screeches and stutters when moving the ball around and is in general a nuisance to deal with. How's your experience with it? Great video BTW, started watching them a couple of months ago and am hooked since. We both geek out exactly the same when talking about old computers :-)
@@bbishoppcm Oh I have, multiple times. The thing is, it appears to me that they were explicitly meant to be used at that 150 or so degree angle while mounted to a keyboard with a mount I'm missing. Using it vertically on a desk is possible (by design at least), but then the ball sticks out a bit from its plastic pegs holding it in place and actually comes in contact with the ring, causing the stuttering and screeching. Unfortunate, but oh well.

You need to clean that trackball, gently twist off the ring and remove the ball, and clean the sapphire bearing the ball rides on
