Just look at history. That's what many are missing. People care about what directly affects them. Combine a failing service economy, a rise in income inequality, and drastic social changes in a short period (i.e., racial ideology, LGBTQ, neo-Marxism), and you will get significant political resistance. It's not even surprising. It will only get worse as China becomes the dominant global economy and superpower.

Because of this fear, they do not look beyond the borders of their city, county, state and certainly not beyond the US border. Furthermore, I think that many conservatives have started doing this much and much more because of the unjustified 2nd invasion of Iraq by Bush Jr. The Iraq/Afghanistan war has cost far too much in lives, material, money and the position of the US in the rest of the world. Our process to pick presidents is completely broken. Iowa is less than 1% of the US population and 90% white. This is not an accurate representation of the US electorate. All respect to the good people of Iowa, but the electoral college needs to be updated or abolished so a simple majority of the popular vote determines the president.
GOP primary voters and caucus voters in places like MA or CA are similar in their views though. They just don’t have any influence or power since they are the minority in those states.
Make the whole campaign 90 days. On day 1 have a nationwide primary. The person with the most votes in each party is that party’s nominee. On Day 90, run the general election. The person with the most votes wins. All votes will matter regardless of where you live. No more PACs or dark money contributions. Only small dollar donations that each candidate must make public on Day 1, 30 and 60. Two term limits on all elected offices and 10 year terms in all appointed positions including the Supreme Court. No one can run for any office after the legal retirement age when people can collect social security. No more billions of dollars wasted on campaigns and politicians only priority getting re-elected over and over again and doing whatever it takes to get donor $.
The popular vote works good for the primary but not the general election. No offense to those people in those states but they are the minority of the electorate. And most of those states need Blue states to get by financially

Because of this fear, they do not look beyond the borders of their city, county, state and certainly not beyond the US border. Our process to pick presidents is completely broken. Iowa is less than 1% of the US population and 90% white. This is not an accurate representation of the US electorate. All respect to the good people of Iowa, but the electoral college needs to be updated or abolished so a simple majority of the popular vote determines the president.
GOP primary voters and caucus voters in places like MA or CA are similar in their views though. They just don’t have any influence or power since they are the minority in those states.
Make the whole campaign 90 days. On day 1 have a nationwide primary. The person with the most votes in each party is that party’s nominee. On Day 90, run the general election. The person with the most votes wins. All votes will matter regardless of where you live. No more PACs or dark money contributions. Only small dollar donations that each candidate must make public on Day 1, 30 and 60. Two term limits on all elected offices and 10 year terms in all appointed positions including the Supreme Court. No one can run for any office after the legal retirement age when people can collect social security. No more billions of dollars wasted on campaigns and politicians only priority getting re-elected over and over again and doing whatever it takes to get donor $.
The popular vote works good for the primary but not the general election. No offense to those people in those states but they are the minority of the electorate. And most of those states need Blue states to get by financially
