    What we are eating, that is what our body is made of. Our mind is also made of that. If we eat too much chilli, it is natural to get angry. There is a link to what food we eat. It is important to understand the importance of healthy eating. Food can be classified in three modes, satva guna(goodnes), rajo guna( passion) and tamo guna(ignorance). The satvic food are natural foods created by God for humans - grains, lentils, dals, pulses, beans, fruits and vegetables, dairy products. Satvic food makes our mind satvic. Over cooked food, food with too much of salt, chilli, sour, sugar are mode of passion. These will enhance worldly aspirations. The tamasic food are putrified, stale, addictive and meat products. Tamasic food will increase violence, anger, laziness, sleep; increase darkness of soul. God has designed our body for vegetarianism. We have molar teeth, long intestine and not good for meat products. Even if we kill vegetables, we are committing sin because plants also have life. Those who offer food to God and partake of the remnants, are released from sin. Those who eat in enjoying consciousness are eating sin. We should think that to use this body in service of God, we need to maintain this body and reach him. First offer to God and have his prasad. Please like, comment and share this wonderful video.

      Also include how meat eating causes more disease -Because these food stays inside our body (small intestine ) for longer time compared to carnivores becoz of its longer size than that of carnivores so it get putrifies i.e. decayed resulting into disease

      Please don't connect Hinduism with vegetarianism, U cannot ignore rigveda in which there is a lot animal sacrifice (with rituals) including that of cows and buffaloes, neither it is written explicitly in bhagwat geeta to not to eat nonveg, according to bhagwat geeta tamsic food is : which cause pain , distress and diseases and food cooked more than 3 hours which is tasteless, decomposed and unclean.
      (There is one thing which is known as preconceived notion and then there is one thing called exact translations of scriptures from which i have made a point). If a guru make his own interpretation of scriptures (what tamsic food is ) inspite of actually interpretation, its wrong, its ur responsibility to know as a human being which food suits you by eating it.That is why God has made man intelligent.(To go on someone's else is as dangerous as following something without perceiving for what is right for urself).     Awesome guru ji.
    I am from non-veg family.
    Few years ago, I decided to not to eat animals like chicken,goat etc.
    But, the members of my family just forced me to eat. They were said that non veg things are good to eat not bad. You are thinking wrong .
    They actually scolded me for this.
    But now I decided, I never ever eat these animals and tries that my family will also not eat.

    Though a vegetarian by birth, I used to enjoy all rajasic foods (which are supposed to be sattvic, as Swamiji says). I suffered health consequences. Swamiji's eye-opening statement, that all foods we eat have sins attached to them hit me the hardest. When I began offering food to Shree Krishna and partake in the remnants, He ensures I grow in health and sattvic tendencies. Thanks for inculcating this attitude Swamiji 🙏🙏🙏

    I am eating satvik diet for last 21 days. Amazingly, i am having very less negative thoughts in my mind.even if negative thought comes, I can easily keep it aside and fill my mind with positivity.

      Sattvik diet is composed with sattvik food. Sattvik food is natural, vegetarian and fresh meals. If you like eggs an fish may be you can take it once for a while, but the vegetables, grains and nuts needs to be fresh. Best option is complete vegetarian diet. You can cook some vegetables with ghī.
      If you want a good guidence, buy a good Ayurvedic book, like those of Dr. David Frawley or Vasant Lad, or consult a real ayurvedic doctor. You can consult an authorized yoga teacher too.
      Sattvik diet is the most direct way to peace and happiness, specially if you want to practice spiritual life.

    So beautifully explained SwamiJi. It was surprising to know these facts that you have stated and that the food we eat has so much impact on our feelings and emotions. What we eat matters, we have to remember that we only have to eat so that the body can function. And since God is the creator of us all we should offer him the food that we eat and then eat it.

    I’m just so glad I’ve been eating healthy for a while and notice this for a 19 yr old in America like he said I low key come from a family who doesn’t know what they eat just eat whatever like snacks, soup, and wings etc and never actually acknowledge the food we ate, my family might be stagnate by my new behavior but I love it.

    What a beautiful elaborate explanation for a vegetarian diet. How beautifully swamiji has explained the differences and their influence on our body and mind. Similarly the content which we consume everyday through media, books ,internet also influences our mind . Like how good sathvik diet eradicates anger jealousy etc good content consumption also help us to think sathvically. Gives more inner peace and whole world will be free from war and violence.     I'm vegetarian, but I used to eat in a rajasic mode, satisfying my palate. Swamiji opened eyes, eating for our own happiness is like eating sin. I learnt a lesson today. I will offer my food to God before eating

    It is interesting that all 3 of my children at different points in their life had wanted to become vegetarian, none have fully stuck to it. Now I am in the process of going from meat eater to eating fish, dairy and next on to becoming a vegetarian. I'm weaning myself off dairy etc and through chanting, meditation and walks, swimming in the ocean I'm nearly their. My children are now looking at me and due to some of them having food allergies or low energy levels are slowly coming around to what I am doing and Hinduism and its Teachings. Amazing. Blessings to us all, especially Guru Ji for teaching us.

    The saints and scriptures repeatedly tell us to take simple and sattvic food and to refrain from junk foods to keep our body healthy and our mind calm and composed, that is very much essential for spiritual sadhana. But, in many of their lectures, both Swamiji and Shri Maharajji remarked, "we pay deaf ear to the advice of Guru, but listen to doctor's advice to carry out his order promptly.

    This food advice is true for all humans.
    Fresh Fruits, Vegetables and Starch are our real foods.
    Fried oily foods, meats, spices and chillies are our worst enemies.

    Great video, been taking steps towards improving the way I eat and I don't eat as much trash or even meat like I used to. Snacks aka junk food has been a struggle however, but I am starting to replace them with healthier alternatives. I am learning to make many things from scratch to avoid processed food or food with dangerous ingredients. I still eat meat, but mostly turkey, chicken and sometimes fish. Though I'm starting to incorporate more vegetables and good spices in my food.
    Side note: The Lady at 5:37 writing down notes because she really wants to make changes, and then you have the lady next to her, completely ignoring the lecture and more concerned with what her neighbor is writing (not minding her own business), than what she is supposedly there for. Lol. Just an interesting observation and something I think is prevalent in society, people more concerned about what others are doing than what they are supposed to be doing.

    Thank you Swamiji for again emphasizing on service attitude. You will be committing sin even following a vegetarian diet because plants have souls too. Only way is karma yog, offer the food and partake the prasad to serve the divine.

    I hope someone would convey my question to swami ji.
    "Namaste Swamiji, a great video. It was really incredible, the way u made it clear. But i have a confusion. If for some reason despite knowing all these, someone doesnt have chance to be a vegetarianism. Actually people are at different span of life. I am myself a 23 year old youth. Now i have to engage in studies & job all that for which i have to go through many places in a too much hectic life style. There is not a single one as my companion, who is vegetarianism. As i have to spend my time in arena of work with them & also to go throughout many places in hectic lifestyle, the thought of adopting vegetarianism is just totally impossible. But i try to do my meditation & other healthy routines as per your instructions, to my best. But only due to having not at all any option for adopting vegetarianism, i cant go for it now. I would like to know from you, what should be your tips for people like us. I m sure there are many people like that. As i want to be spirituality elevated at most & following all your instructions except being a vegetarian, plz guide me throughout this dilemma."

    Radhe Radhe, Very interesting lecture. Beautifully explained by Swamiji how to maintain a healthy body eating proper food. Food can be classified in three modes Satva Guna(goodness), rajo Guna(passion) and tamo Guna(ignorance). God has designed our body for vegetarianism. What we are eating, that is what our body is made of. Our mind is also made of that. If we eat too much chilli, it is natural to get angry. We should think that to use this body in service of God, we need to maintain this body and reach him. First offer to God and have his Prasad. Thank you Swamiji.

    Swamiji explained here nicely about the real connection between food and mind. Our body construction is for vegetarian food. But we are not realizing this. Also sometimes by force of family or freind we used to take non vegetarian food. It is bad for both health and mind. We should change it. Thanks swamiji ❤❤
