Identity V survivors guide for beginners, containing a bunch of tips and tricks for survivors towards that victory. It will give many advice to help last longer and overall gameplay. Keep in mind that the guide and strategies does take practice and time to improve. Hopefully this has been helpful to you in becoming a better survivor!

Your tip for ciphers to not decode together is accurate but logically if you all stay together at one place, you have a more chance not to be found else where. Not saying it’s bad but there’s just some exceptions to do so.
with minds eye it worked though i dunno if it will work in other cases..we had good kiteers i guess
I know ur comment is REALLY old but the reason why u should not decode together is when u are found everybody has to spread out and find new ciphers, but u say that the possibility of being found is lower, that's not true because experienced hunters can actually see ur cipher shaking and they will go there, the more the cipher shakes means the more the progress. This isnt to debunk u or anything but just thought this might help

One thing I like to do as a mechanic main is this one thing where you 360 before you vault if the hunter is close, I find this helpful because I see minds eyes and mechanics all getting terror shocked, because they are afraid to take a hit (Im afraid to take a hit, but at least I avoid a terror shock)

All I’m saying is that if I’m not playing rank, I will go back for a teammate every time, detention or not. In the more casual matches, it can be pretty fun and exciting to have that ‘no man left behind’ mindset. If it results in a loss or a tie? So be it. I’ve made a lot of game friends risking my life at the very end.

Your tips are good but the part about getting in the basement is solely up to the hunter and I don’t understand what the survivor has to do with where they get chaired... how am I silly for getting chaired in the basement? I wish I knew. Overall, it’s a game and mistakes happen and it sucks to know that you cost your team the game but it’s a game, you can improve, for anyone reading this
he’s recommending to not kite near the basement, because there’s a higher chance of being chaired there. usually hunters will put you in the nearest chair and not go to the basement unless basement is super near because it gives the survivor time to struggle free! hope this clarifies

If someone is on 1st chair (or a painter that was saved instantly on first chair) and detention runs out in 40 seconds, if the chair is about 100-200 meters away from you, i usually go for the rescue. If its within 30-40 meters from you, dont do it unless your merc at full health and exit gate it open (like the two chairs in ceremony, its not worth it if you cant stun or take a delayed hit) and also do t forget to think of basic rescuing “rules” (like not rescuing when ur injured even in the slightest but unless your an ada at 49% against a single hit hunter

There's a one time that since im a newbie and idk what to do when we're winning and one survivor still not at the gate that survivor is injured but i did stay in the gate waiting for the survivor but the hunter dash towards me and i got panic and escape. Now the injured survivor is telling everyone that i leave early in the website. Im not really good at being chased bcuz once im being chased i just run, jump windows and run and still got caught. As I saw mostly in the videos eveyrone is a fast runner while i trying to find a persona for running faster😅😅

8:59 you can trick the hunter’s tinnitus. Like for example, go far from the rocket chair and wait for the hunter to teleport or go to the gate.

every time I’m decoding as minds eye, someone runs towards me and decodes with me, making me lose my afk decoding ability and they kite towards me and basically kills me because I move so slow haha

I had a forward that saved me when cipher was popped that went from a secure tie into a loss. I was spam pinging "Don't rescue me!" and "Get out of here!"
he was a hound and i was a bee at that point, i was disappointed when he came to save, me and the hunter talked about it in post-match but we weren't being toxic about it lol, at least there was a really satisfying cipher pop

i have a silly little friend and they are the ONLY person i trust when detention rescuing they honestly do some rlly amazing rescues 10/10 rescuer
There are 2 main things that I really hate while playing survivor.
First is when I'm using a decoder, especially Mind's Eye, random survivor just coming with a lovely hunter. And ofc the hunter moves and targeting the decoder-in this case is me-while decoders are lack of surviving abilities.
Second is saving other players. I hate it when some survivors are trying to save a captured survivor that has been placed twice on rocket chair or has small time left before the rocket activated. Cz it's so wasting time and can turn down the winning chances. Also when the gate's successfully opened and there're 3 players left. But one of them is on rocket chair and another one trying to save that survivor instead of getting out. It's too risky situation imo to save someone as the probability to get knocked down is pretty high. I prefer the Tie result than have to lose. :'v
Anyway I'm just a beginner tho and still need to learn more things. 😅
ik this isnt related but this was my best round (imo) yet- well besides the hunter bringing me to the exit even tho i was a whole noob back then
so uh i have 4 doctor skins now and i love her sm but uh so i got a whole round with nobody dying. i body guarded two victims and the hunter just ignored them and me. i saved everyone and brung someone to the exit
i also made sure the hunter didnt walk in on the victim decoding so uh yeah im cool now 🤺
Also pro tip for Rank matches. Do not I mean do not go alone basically if you get paired with random people chances are that they will get chaired easily at the beginning and that will cause the win to start going down, so go in a group of decoders and kiters .

For the thing for said about Mechanic, it's actually better for her to save because she has that debuff when someone's injured. I'm a mechanic main(borrowed time and Tide Turner build) and I always save when I'm close or I'm the one with full health, I just leave my doll to decode.

Im tier 4 and i save people when there are 3 survivors left but one is on a rocket chair. I use mercenary for rank and i also have tide turner.
OiRin reading it back, i dont even understand it myself. (I basically meant that i use mercenary in rank match and towards the ending, if a person is chaired, i will go and save him/her because i have tide turner and i have 15 seconds delayed health)

Another tip:
Dont play randoms
The thing that i really hate from other players when I'm playing solo is when someone got knocked or me, the whole team will stop decoding and try to save the captured player, wtf -_- even the decoding type character like Explorer or The Mind will risk their life to save a single person, and then it will ended up when the cipher is still 4 but we already lose 2 teammates and some are injured. If you can't save your teammate especially in early game, don't take the risk.
Sometimes I just ditch em, if we have enough people and it’s too much of a risk we’ll just all get yeeted

Is looping considered toxic? I used it in one of my first matches when my team was dead, the hunter and me ended up going at it throughout the map for over 300 seconds before he rage quitted. (I was looking for the exit after the indicator disappeared and kept running into him and trying to lose him) to be fair I didn’t use it too often but nonetheless I question my morality

Hi! I'm a beginner in the game, and I heard many times in this video about Detention. How do you know when the hunter doesn't have Detention anymore?
their eyes glow red ! it lasts for 120 seconds and I believe the only way you can tell when they don’t have it anymore is when their eyes are back to normal ^^
There’s also a trait on the survivor persona web which activates when the last cipher is completed and lasts for 120 secs, i think it increases ur speed or smth, but i always use it to tell when detention ends since it lasts just as long as detention.
This reminds me of roblox flee the facility

OiRin thanks for the quick reply! i’ve been using thief mostly and i have like 2800 puzzle thingies i think i’ll probably buy seer first. I just want a survivor that i can learn to be good with and is good at slowing the killer down or getting away and if it takes skill even better.
OiRin I tried deer for free luckily and i don’t like him much he’s not a good fit for me in your opinion what is one of the best survivors for escaping the killer but not totally useless in deciphering

Main tip is not to go for a rescue when the hunter is facecamping, focus on decoding instead
OiRin because they never heard of gen (cipher mavhine) preassure. Going for a rescue against a facecamper is not optimal, it's better to focus on decoding. That's how you punish facecampers. Looks like I'm the only hunter with high stats that doesn't camp. Camping is equivalent to being childish, as well selfish
OiRin Instead, hunter should be looking for other survivors. This will give the survivor another chance, making the game more enjoyable for him/her, as well as increase hunter's chances of winning. Camping only provides hunter and survivors with a dreadfully boring gameplay

I still suck in this game, no matter how often I'm trying or practicing.. I've watched so many videos how to be a "good" survivor or hunter but I'm simply too dumb for this game. Since I've been encountering a lot of people bullying me, no matter if I was a survivor or hunter, I'm honestly scared to interact with real players in matches because it's really frustrating and hurtful, so I'm only playing against bots to at least pretend that I'm not THAT bad :/
