- Yesterday, Dr. Phil spoke with Karen and Jim who claim they are desperate to remove their violent and mooching 31-year-old son, Kyle, from their home. Kyle gave reason after reason why he felt his parents were at fault for his financial situation. Today, Dr. Phil enlists the help of the star of the popular TV show, Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer, to offer advice to Kyle and his parents. Taffer has written a new book, “Don’t ******** Yourself, Crush The Excuses That Are Holding You Back”, and shares with Kyle and his parents the secrets to overcoming the excuses that keep people from being successful. Will Kyle listen to Dr. Phil and Jon Taffer? Will he finally move out of his parents’ house? (2216318RR)

If they're that controlling then he needs to leave
He needs to leave anyway he’s 32 years old. It’s their house their rules.
I'm 34 and still at home. The market is INSANE and I just can't afford a good place even though I make decent money and have absolutely no debt. I pay board to live with them and all, I'm no freeloader, but it's just not as easy to move out as it used to be.
@@CatieCass That's Absurd! grow up and get out on your own.
I'm impressed they got John Taffer on THIS show. He is quite a phenomenal person.
I want to hear the whole story on this. My gut is telling me the parents are also at fault to some degree.
you do not need the full story to come to that conclusion!🤣
They enabled him, they even said they keep bailing him out
@@andreajones886 true, though I like more details x3
Maybe they secretly don't trust him in their house Alone 😂😄
@@feliciayoung9369he’s a thief that’s why
The son is acting like a teenager.
Possibly the laziest man alive. No changing that. Lazy is just lazy.
objects at rest tend to remain at rest!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is a 31 year old man with a profession, Get out of mommy and daddy"s house and get a life. They don't owe you anything. With their age and health issues, you should be taking care of them 111
I am definitely what one would call a late bloomer. I lived at home until I was 39. However, I pulled my weight around the house. I lived upstairs and my parents lived downstairs. I kept my part of the house clean, did my own laundry, washed their cars, handled the yard work, took out all the trash and paid for my own groceries and bills. The only thing that my parents provided was dinner. I would eat meals with them that they prepared. Honestly, I never really wanted to move out but ultimately felt so much shame and embarrassment from our culture that I chose to move out. My parents and I got along great. My first night in my new house, I knew there was no turning back. I’ve been on my own now for 17 years and the loneliness is brutal at times. I still visit them frequently but I 100% support myself. I’ve done well financially and I give back to them periodically. I bring them a meal at least once per week. Buying my own place got society’s disapproval off of my back but it really didn’t fix anything in me. I’m okay with having my own house but I do hate coming home to an empty home every single day. I’ve never been in a relationship and don’t see that changing anytime soon. I don’t know why but I never really matured emotionally beyond about age 12 or 13. I never wanted age appropriate things like my siblings and peers did. I still feel like a kid inside. I know I’m not though and I accept my adult responsibilities but emotionally I do feel like I’m 13. It’s an odd dynamic because in my profession, I have a lot of responsibility and many people are dependent on me to perform my job. I always come through. It’s just in my personal life where I’m underdeveloped.
Everyone is different and you should have been allowed to live life in your own comfort zone.
If your parents want you there, good for everyone. If parents don't, then kids need to stop making excuses and move.
You obviously need to discuss this with a therapist. You need to improve your relationship with yourself before you can have a relationship with someone else.
Why is he at his parents home? Way too old to be at mommy and daddy's house
I have a friend who's sister let their mother move in with her a couple of years ago. According to him their mother always wants things done her way, his sister told their mother the house belongs to his sister and her husband. As I understand it mom decided to change the kitchen around because that's the way she likes it, she then went on and moved the livingroom around as well. His sister told mom it's not her house and she's just a guest, mom moved the livingroom around again and said something like it's staying this way because she likes it like that. His sister and her husband dropped off mom at a retirement home, mom is now only allowd one day visits every other week.
I can solve his dilemma,... "GET YOUR OWN APARTMENT!"
Problem solved!
Paying your own way gets you the freedom!
Granted, I'm 'old' but I couldn't wait to get out of my mother's house and live on my own. I raised my own kids to feel the same way but for different reasons. My kids were told, "If/when you're supporting yourself and paying your own bills, there won't be anyone waiting up, to make sure you get home safely. There won't be anyone asking you to please turn the music down (although my kids were pretty good about stuff like that), and you won't have to deny yourself an extra share of the leftovers so I can take them for my lunch." I practically had to pry my youngest out with a crowbar ~ even though she worked and paid rent. Parents will eventually die. We owe it to our kids to make sure they are self sufficient before we do.
WHY ARE YOU STILL LIVING AT HOME?!?
Snl needs to make this whole thing a skit.
Yes
I love my children but the day that I am afraid of them they have to go. I will not live in fear in my own home.
Why would you have any reason to be afraid of your children...?
Are they violent
That's why I live alone.
So you're not allowed to leave the house, but you're allowed to go on a Dr. Phil show? Riiiiight...
I bet if the parents REQUIRE him to wear a diaper, have a bottle and pacifier, he'd take the hint and move out.
This crossover is so ⚡️
Best crossover!
31 years old and lives with parents? Dude, go live your life.
Never thought I'd see this particular duo taking something on.
Now I wonder why ?????
He needs professional help!
Is this real?
I was almost expecting Jon taffer to just yell at him on live TV
😂😂😂
I stand corrected
Jon taffer is legendary
31 he looks like 51 get out of your parents house you beta
Bro why are you living with parents at 31
Because He CAN.
@@kristyhughes3146 ok Karen of the comment section ahhahahaha
Because he is lame and takes no accountability of his life.
I have found a new way to enjoy RUclips. I click Don't Recommend Channel as soon as I see a Politician from any party .. anywhere on Earth. It works !
You, my friend, are a genius. Brilliant!! lol
And this has WHAT to do with Dr Phil?
Best day ever when I found that option!
So.....move out....
Maybe parents are right, but treating your son this way is not all right too.If they were a little bit more affectionate with him during childhood the situation was different.Throwing a child out like a piece of trash, even if he is older,is not a solution.this story has 2 faces.sad story.where we became on 21 century.
So move out
Why doesn't he move out into a place of his own?
His parents are infantilizing him...its a form of mental/emotion abuse..they've ruined any opportunity hes had to get away from them in order to remain in control.... it's straight selfishness....people are quick to judge him but dont understand how big of an impact parents can have on their children even well into adulthood...i hope he leaves them soon...
This is weird. Imagine being 31 and living at home with your parents and you don't have a severe disability...... I've been on my own since 16. My siblings all have been on their own since between 16-18 yrs. (Why). ...... Because our parents were broke 24/7 if we wanted hygiene products by 14 we needed a job to get them. Yes I wish we had more. But I'm glad I'm not a loser living with my parents. Weird
Everyone's different. I know people who stay with their parents because their PARENTS are ill or disabled. I know people who live with their parents due to religious reasons and some because it was cheaper...or simply because they wanted to!
Do you know what infantilizing is? Thats what this guy is experiencing...
It seems you're projecting your bitterness about being forced to be on your own at a young age. The only "LOSERS" are your parents....
@@tr2404 I guess you're right. There are more than one type of mold.
John taffer is just an all around awesome man, smart, successful, great communicator. John taffer and Dr Phil teaming up is pretty legendary
if he is so useless that he still lives with them is gross. old enough to live on your own and be who you should be. blah
He looks like a young, angry Alan Alda
BODY LANGUAGE: Hes scared, unsure, uncertain....
I think this kid is a narcissist
I don’t think they are being fair on him
please,explain your answer.....show your work!
Trust me. They are!
Whatever the rights and wrongs of this situation, he really reminds me of Elijah Wood! Perhaps this guy is his less successful brother! 😁👍
The title of the video doesn't match the content of the video. I thought it would talk about how controlling the parents are and why. Instead they're making it seem like the son is the problem. And maybe he is too but please put things in context if you're going to make a video.
you have responsility for you
What is this.. fake doctor and fake psychologist 😂🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️
Do you have a pair? Grow up.

Move out and start being an adult, you are 31.

Every old school white man has the same rap, talk to people 20-30 who actually went out and got educated and still can't make ends meet with the wages they make. Then you ask why people don't want to work or get addicted to drugs...you have a smartphone??? you're a addict too, take it away see how far you get out the driveway. These guys hail from a time when you could get ahead way quicker/easier. They say we need to earn it, some of us are still trying to work knowing it doesn't make sense. "Gotta earn it", what the right to stay broke?
Sounds like you’re a moocher
fr. All of my friends in my income class work full time “adult” jobs and we would never be able to afford to live alone in my city.
This can absolutely be an issue of laziness and apathy but it’s becoming more and more common for people 35ish and younger to be forced to live with family because we don’t have other options.
@@htcheeto420 or you just give up too easily
@@drakashrakenburgproduction5369 where do you live?
So get a better job. Move to a city. Work 2 jobs. This brat has no children and no responsibilities. He has a professional job and pays no bills. This isnt a question of not being able to afford something. This is just a garden variety mooch.
