When I heard that Mermaid Melody, my favorite childhood anime, had a sequel I was ecstatic, until I saw a few panels and crushing disappointment took over me...Also your designs and art are really pretty!
I 100% agree with you. Rukia's outfit is far too plain. I think that one of the designs you made would look much better on Rukia.
No, because EVERYTHING you said I agreed and nodded to, to the extent where my neck started to hurt. I read somewhere how they made Rukia be an exact copy of Luchia because it's kind of like how Seira ended up looking like Sara. Except Luchia didn't die, and Rukia is also Kaito's daughter, so I don't understand why she has to look exactly the same OR have any of Kaito's traits since she's his daughter too. I could ramble about how much they dropped the ball on this sequel.
I just learned today that Mermaid Melody has a sequel and it's about Luchia and Kaito's daughter. I even cried! I immediately read it and oh boy I'm disappointed. 🤧
Andddddd I'm very irritated with how Luchia says she can't be with the boy she loves because she has a fiancee. Like duh girl??? Wth!
I'm even mad at how Rukia doesn't know she was a mermaid all this time until she was 16?! She doesn't even know Hippo!!
I was so stressed out when I read all the available chapters 😫 uhg my childhood! They did not even do any justice with the past characters and every chapter feels soooo rushed and somehow copies the plot of the original.

Lucia says herself in the original manga when discussing her human bikini top vs her mermaid form that the mermaid world is "only girls." 😂 now all of a sudden we have mermen. Great for side stories but highly inaccurate for the original. I had such high hopes for PPP Aqua.. but it looks like if we want things right we're gonna have to take hold of this franchise and save it ourselves..
@@davydukes8391 maybe mermaid Melody is just the beginning of an epic, because it simply doesn’t have the the power and experience to develop as much lore as the rather disappointing sequel.
I was so sad when I saw that she had exactly the same face as her mom. like when they are next to each other in their siren form they are the same person. 😢
Also like they didn’t seems to have gotten older and it’s a bit weird… 🫡
When I saw this, I clicked....I was like yass queen....thank you for giving Rukia a redesign. Ironically, I wa considering redesigning her myself....I hate the fact she basically looks like a carbon copy of her mother, Luchia. Like look at Chibi Moon....she's not a carbon copy of Sailor moon for examplem...I don't mind the story of Aqua. But yeah, Rukia and Ryuusei fell in love too dang fast.
But yeah these redesigns are fire! All of them are so beautiful ❤️
I’m actually glad I’m not the only one who wonders what Luchia in the OG story would of looked like if she had pink hair instead? I felt it was such a miss not giving Rukia pink hair instead? She and her mom would of looked like the aquatic version of Princess Serenity & Chibiusa. Such a missed opportunity!
I hope Mermaid Melody gets a reboot anime series that’s faithful to the manga, the same way as Sailor Moon Crystal. I know it would probably get a more mature rating since the manga is darker. But hey, the majority of fans are older now so I don’t think they have to make too many changes to censorship?

When it comes to mermaid melody idols, there were the Idol 1 and Idol 2
Take Rina as an example. When they all start transforming to singing idols for the first time, Rina had the most basic lookin green dress... Just like Rukia
BUT when their powers got '' leveled up'' and they became stronger, they got the Idol 2 transformation which it added more stuff to their dresses to make them look '' stronger''
Maybe this will happen later on in the manga, but yeah!!

What on earth is this blasphemous sequel and why am I just now hearing about it? ☠️ And further more WHAT is that transformation!? Like seriously WHY is Rukia's idol form so plain looking!? Literally the WHOLE POINT of a magical girl's transformation in any show is to become their ultimate beautiful self! The powers are a plus, but the glow up is meant to be the main point! It's the man hook and to see them drop the ball on Rukia's idol form like that is just sad...why don't people just let the older magical girl shows rest in peeace instead of retconning them like this? And the fact that they now made half of the mermaid population male is just baffling to me x.x
I agree with you completely. Also, I've noticed that Seira introduced herself as Seira Amagi, while her actual surname is Hikari. Did she steal the surname from Mikaru and Rihito?

Yes I agree with you. The story seemed rushed and bland and a little confusing. Then the art??? Why do they have butt cheeks and legs through their tails? So disappointing 😢
That's what I don't get, even with the original manga. It's like they drew a fully human body then slapped the end of a mermaid tail over it.
