👏👏👏 You did it again Kayla! I was definitely lost in the open ended play area. I was putting a ton of pressure on myself trying not to direct her and worrying why she wasn’t interested in a basket of pieces (Besides pouring them out and running away 🤣). But I love these tips! Especially setting up a little inviting area and let the child do the rest. I absolutely love the idea of open ended toys lasting through the years and now I feel like it’s something that will work for us! 🤗
Aww thats so great to hear. I am so pleased it was helpful for you. Ah gosh the pressure as a parent is unreal sometimes isn't it but yes definitely simple invitation to ply type areas can be really effective but still open ended and child led too. :) Thanks for watching lovely.

We are really into small parts and open ended play now that my son is 2. He can go for hours with the most random items and turn them into something I could never imagine myself! Thank you for providing more inspo!

Hi. This is great. One thing I just wanted to say, we use our peg puzzles to trace characters and shapes etc, and hopefully they will learn to hold the peg to trace independently when they are older. We also use the animal ones as characters and get them "back home" into the puzzle. Just wanted to say in case it adds some more life to your puzzles 😊

Lol. I actually find them in lots of places, ASOS online, our local supermarket, Tesco and in the charity shops. They are usually some kind of silk. I can't seem to find anything like it. Second question, what do you usually use to prop your books up if you have an invitation to play based around a book theme. Mine keep falling down and don't look so pretty! xx

Hi, I am new to your channel but think it is great. Question about the loose parts outside. Do you leave all your baskets etc out in the rain?! Our stuff always gets so mucky! 🤦♀️ x
Hey! Thank you for your comment. We leave some baskets outside but mostly metal pots and things that can get wet over and over. They do rust a little but it all gets mucky and welll used anyway so we don't mind. I'm not too precious about it since it's all about plays and experimentation out there. We don't allow any wooden loose parts outside just natural stuff like rocks and pinecones, conkers etc x

From what age would you introduce small parts? My 19 month old still tends to put smaller things in her mouth. Thank you for sharing this amazing video, very informative:)
Ah thanks so much. Well I have always had some sort of loose parts around even if it was in the form of a treasure basket when my little one was younger which had much bigger things in like pinecones and large shells. I would just check them over for loose bits and make sure they were quite secure if my child was still putting things in her mouth. I didn't introduce smaller loose parts such as grapat prices or pom poms until she was over eating everything you such wasn't until she was 2-2.5 years old. I would just observe and see where your child is at and judge it that way, maybe gradually introduce different loose parts starting with bigger ones. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Xx

Yes they are sliced logs. Gosh I got them so long ago and I think they were second hand. Let me see if I can find a link.
