In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Can I PREVENT COLONIALISM As Genoa??? I do a playthrough as Genoa Europa Universalis 4 1.33 France. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Genoa , and I attempt to conquer the entire region of Iberia which includes Castile, Aragon, Navara and Granada. So let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future.

Wouldn't a full annex on Aragon mean you inherit Castile?
@@niggus2594 Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia, obviously. Because the Atlas mountains. 😄
Your ad read was really good.
Yeah!!! Do a guide for Genoa! But wait until 1.34 comes, because, apparently, they will allow merchant republics to have states.
@@mateuszwesoowski9583 That doesn't apply to PUs.
Easy option as Georgia, colonize the other Georgia. Or if you want something more interesting, just conquer the Black Sea as Georgia or take Moscow and Constantinople as payback to the 2 nations that annoyed Georgia the most at this time.
Edit: Forgot Geneva was next, oop
@@kingdomoftransylvania5744 That's what the guy said
@@iuriepripa3171 I thought he meant conquering the 2 other georgian states lmao
he should do the THREE Georgias
There is also the Iberian kingdom and conquering iberia
@@thedude1165 I thought about that but figured he just focused on Iberia this episode so it would be a bit repetitive.
You can use "return cores" instead of directly clicking the provinces, which would allow you to take cores for your other subjects without penalty even if the war goal does not belong to them. It also removes cores of your enemy if the provinces is not of their primary culture (although not particular important against AI).
But transfering them to subjects give less AE
@@chadjacket Return cores option with Reconquest CB has still pretty low AE. and you don't loose diplo points, can return cores to any subject and costs you less warscore - definitely a better option to me, unless you want to reduce liberty desire of your subject by the peace deal. and at last, RedHawk is not playing AE optimally anyway :)
True, during reconquest wars i like removing my enemy's cores whether by reconquest or by peace deal, it feels great that the coalition can't bring France or Spain to their former glory.
Yeah and I also make sure every province is occupied by me because subjects get a relations bonus if you give them provinces in the return province screen
Do a game where you play your favorite nation to the absolute best of your ability, start to end. All the way to 1820
Didn't notice how similar Genoa's colour is to Spain before, it's actually a really nice map colour and can stealthily hide itself as Spain when it replaces them.
As Geneva, break the Geneva conventions and/or attempt to make borders that are a crime.
Could be something with culture conversion.
this a really good idea lol
@@Gluu4 Culture conversion is just assimilation, he'll probably have to attack th natives in colonies to make it work.
Please do a Genoa guide! It's a fun nation to play as and guide are sorely lacking
I will!

Red hawk: Forming the Roman empire would take to long as an A to Z
Me: *do it*
21:00 Yes PLEASE! Do a serious Genoa guide. I have been trying a couple of times, but I just can't seem to get them off the ground. And I think there are no real Genoa guides, or only some that are really old and outdated.
When you are doing a reconquest war, you can give back cores for multiple subjects if you ask them to return the core instead of clicking on the province on the map!
Two suggestions here:
As Georgia, Have your capital in the other Georgia while also owning the island of South Georgia.
As Geneva, own Den Hague (for the court), Nuremberg (because of the trials against the Nazis), and Vienna (so you can kill a certain Austrian ex-painter as soon as he's born).
He was born in Braunau am Inn, not Vienna.
This is the best Geneva idea btw
Also since you said Nuremberg for the Nuremberg Trials, why not ALSO conquer Tokyo, becuase of the Tokyo Trials
@@DD-nb9rn Would take too long
1:43 actually they also said no. It took some convincing to get the Queen and King on board with his crazy idea.
AcTuAlY americano vespucci told evryone that he discoverd america and knew that he found a new continent unlike columbus who tought he found a new way to asia
This is correct
I was looking forward to Genoa in A to Z. Another banger as always Hawk
Thanks!
Again, i'll suggest that as Geneva, you form Switzerland without fighting directly anyone with your own army, just relying on your allies, to make sure you personally don't break any law of the Geneva convention!
Now I do want to see a tryhard attempt to prevent all the usual colonizers from colonizing
ME
Maybe as Geneva you could make a incredibly cursed Frankenstein's monster of a country (Geneva is where Victor Frankenstein grew up) by maybe flipping to animist, making Irish your primary culture, and conquering Finland. This is just an example but I think it could be quite fun
As the city of Geneva was the home of many Calvinist scholars, you should try and go reformed as Geneva and win the religious league war
8:12 You forgot about the flag of Mallorca (if you release them) and the flag of the french vasall "Foix" right above the Pyrinees.
Use the return cores tab in the peace treaty screen to give provinces back to anyone with the reconquest CB, like your subject Valencia. I'm pretty sure it gets the benefits of the reconquest CB even if they aren't your subject.
Stay sharp champ, great content as usual
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING MY COMMENT, CHAD HAWK
Can't wait until 1.34 when Genoa will not feel like a bad pick anymore. Their starting position is so interesting
What buffs will Genoa get in 1.34?
@@Rullino32 If understand the Riga dev diary correctly, all merchant republics will get estates in addition to factions.
@@TheKlaun9 True, I'll try Ragusa and try the get the Achievement with it.
Always love seeing Genoa get the love it deserves! Hands down one of my favorite nations
Im excited for season M when he has to play Mali and Majapahit
1:41 Technically the Castille/Aragon said No as well until the Reconquista was done. Then they cared for other stuff. So you should've conquered Granada first to take the provinces as a catholic nation.
I was doing a Genoa run and my objective was to create a massive trade league in order to have a stable wolrd and be impossible to be attacked. With this strategy I managed to get almost all of italian opms in my league, therefore there haven't been border changes in italy, besides the opms I released from other nations that were super willing to join the league. Atm the league has 15 members and I have a good economy. Plus I started using the special action for trade republics that allows you to release a brand new trade republic in a province, but just one for trade node. That way i created some republics in provinces that don't have releasable nations (like single provinces in Crimea) and those tags are automatically added to the league. It would be interesting if you try this game style too: for my capabilities it got too difficult to handle at some point!
I wanted to let you know that your videos and persona genuinely brighten my day. Keep up the great content bro
Genoa guide would be sweets they have one of the weirdest starting clay, and it is really nice to get good in the trade city/trade company game with outposts all over the Mediterranean in between all the great powers, while you slowly increase your land al over the place
I'd love a Genoa Guide, though it might just be because I love watching all the guides you make - IDK when 1.34 releases but I would like a 1.34 guide for all the Scandinavia region of course (including Gotland please)
Thanks for the reducing attitude towards enemies trick, i didn't know that
Heck yeah a Genoa guide would be cool!
my fav nation ! I had fun releasing and playing as Corsica and conquering the world then !
id love a genoa guide. Genoa has always seemed to be such a cool nation, sprawled out everywhere
Love to see a Genoa guide
Great job
I literally sold my provinces to the Ottomans for fear of getting stomped (back pre-2,000 hours) and then formed Italy (my first time forming). Super fun nation.
I feel your pain RE the AI blocking you Hawk. I'm doing a Switzerlake campaign, so naturally I get the strongest Austria I've ever seen, PU over: Bohemia, Hungary, Poland and Russia, allied to Spain who has Portugal as a PU. Austria used Poland and Russia to annex Lithuania and also got the Burgundian Inheritance. Oh and despite the Protestants winning the league war, they went Religious Peace, meaning anyone can be Emperor, so now Austria is defending every tiny OPM going! I did manage to get France and Ottomans as an alliance, but the French are so passive, they haven't even taken their cores back from England yet (and it's 1570). The Ottomans are kicking ass though, thankfully!
In surprised that red hawk didn't culture shift to castilian and dorm Spain at the end lil and yes a geno guide would be great
yes, do a genoa guide por favor
When i see succesion war i'm happy because that means in the first age i can use the transfer subject and get someone else's heritage.
Genoa guide, please. With LotN merchant republics have estates so that is cool, and with the new government reforms it would be instructive.
wow, i know which country i’m playing as next
22:16 I’M BOB THE BUILDER 😂😂😂 damnit RedHawk I spat tea on my keyboard you comedic genius
Honestly a Genoa guide would be awesome
Definitely do a Genoa guide
yes, do a Genoa Guide next please, thank you very much Mr. Red Hawk.
i'll think of trade republics in next patch , when they have estates
I'm excited for season M, I wonder what you'll do as the Mamluks and Ming
A genoa guide would be great, yes.
I’d love to see a Genoa guide, or even better a full play through maybe on the second channel?
when all you can think about it how much more fun this would be in the next patch
AtlasVPN! That is a new one!
Great integration! ❤
Since Geneva and Switzerland are known for being landlocked, you should do something naval like become a pirate republic with your privateers having the most trade power in the Caribbean or Sevilla
eu4: something happens
red hawk: A pain
Yes! Genoa guide!
Yes, please a Genoa guide!!!!
18:10 I got him as Holland once so I think if they both refuse other nations can get him
As Geneva, which has an insane -15% dev cost in its NIs, stack dev cost reduction as much as you can and dev up all of your provinces to at least 50.
Its funny that when youre zoomed in it seems all nomal but when you zoom out you see that its not the right yellow🤣
You should do a Genoa guide, but for 1.34.
I just want to see you do a try-hard campaign as Genoa.
I think as Geneva, you need to become Emperor of the HRE and try to pass the edict for no wars in the empire before like 1520 or something. As not to end up playing till like 1600 or something. Like a Geneva Convention save the world from war run.
Genoa guide would be great. Like them pretty much but Im not a pretty good player ^^' So a guide to accomplish a good Roman-Empire run with them would be nice
Geneva has the Geneva Convention which has close ties to the Red Cross. So as Geneva, have a vassal that has a red color be in the shape of a cross.
And given that humanitarian aid can be expensive, it's likely that you'd go bankrupt during this attempt.
YES GENOA GUIDE PLS
Yes please do a Genoa guide.
Do a Genoa Guide. Or start a series where you do a full on challenge, like forming Rome or a world conquest would be awesome.
Genoa guide would be nice
Honestly, this kind of opening/long term goal of taking all of Iberia would be a really fun launching point for Genoa to do a colonial campaign
Hey again, Mr. Redhawk. You could spend 50 gov reform to change to an oligarchy. 1. You'd get access to estates. 2. You'd get rid of the 75% increased governing cost for states debuff.
Damn, what a humble thumbnail!
a genoa to rome guide could be cool yeah
I'd like to see a Genoa to Roman Empire guide 🙂
You know who definitely broke the Geneva Convention? Vlad the Impaler. So as Geneva, you should conquer Wallachia.
So Redhawk is a plant guy? Who'd have thought that!
Please do a guide for this nation
Can you do a genoa guide that could be great
Yes, no one records genoa finally someone does
Yes
Please do a genoa guide
My nation, finally!!
First of all: that's cool.
Second of all: How did you manage to keep those faraway territories till the end of the challenge?? 😂😂😂
Ayo it's reversed italian ambitions, Genoa wants to take over Iberia 😂
Indeed that's pretty funny
yes Genova guide pls
Genoa is good because if played right you can control all the trade in the Mediterranean
As Geneva, you could conquer/colonize the provinces of Ohlone (California), Chinko (Illinois), and Rome. The reason? Geneva is home today of CERN and the LHC + LEP, 2 important particles colliders, why not own also homes of 3 other science organizations and laboratories that have particles colliders?
(Ohlone= SLAC laboratory, PEP + Stanford Linear Collider; Chinko= FermiLab, Tevatron; Rome= INFN, DAFNE)
Another possible province is Shimousa (Eastern kanto, Japan), to own also KEK laboratories and the KEKB collider.
makes sense for a map gamer to get sponsored by Atlasvpn
Facts
Geneva got one of the main offices of the United Nations. So get a province on all continents for your own international organisation.
Damn I was just about to go sleep and you have to upload smh
Do a Genoa guide.
Also, you don’t seem to play in Southeast Asia much. I want to see how to start as someone in SE Asia and beat Ming.
you can do trasnfer subject and like this u steal castile from aragon and steal the PU as a result
Honestly, conquering Iberia as Genoa sounds like an excellent strat
as geneva break every geneva convention
Columbus appears to any nation that has explo. Once i got him as hungary
Preventing a Genoa-cide in this one
For Geneva... maybe a "pacifist" run? You can't declare wars yourself (with an exception for your initial independence war) and have to get on the Great Powers list by using separate peace in the wars your allies start.
QQ be like "who can I rival who won't come in and beat me up?"
*rivals genoa*
GENOA GUIDE!!!!
Form Genoa as Geneva if forming Genoa is possible
As Georgia get the Georgia on my mind acheivement
