I actually did get my tie caught in a shredder whilst I was leaning over it to laminate something on another machine. I simply lifted the top of the lid so that it stopped, and waited until people stopped laughing and someone cut the tie off with scissors.
Later on, I got a new tie from the company boss (in the middle of the company's annual get-together, no less) and someone gave me a little model of a character from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, it was Shredder, and I still have him.
No idea who gave me it.

I managed a jewelry store. I had a guy catch his tie on the jewelry buffer one time. He forgot to tuck it into his shirt and it got caught. It pulled his head into the buffer and he hit his head HARD. Thankfully that was all. No concussion, no blood. Missed about two days of work with a bad headache. But. We’d have to always wear a suit and tie, AND buff jewelry with a table top buffer. Super dangerous.
This gave me the idea of a shredder that looks like a CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive but actually shreds it instead of playing

Idea: Dissolve some cotton candy into water, then dehydrate/freeze dry it (whichever process turns liquid into powder), then put that into a cotton candy machine in an attempt to make more cotton candy.

Why is it so bad?
I discovered the reason for the aerosol warning. If the shredder runs for a while it gets hot enough to ignite paper dust, I ignored that warning and almost burned my beard off with a fireball trying to clean the sensor off with canned air. My entire office was covered in shredded paper confetti and smelled of burnt hair.
