Leave no trace if you do not want wild camping to be banned. This means: do not light a fire in such wild places. Your fire did last what? 10 minutes since there was no wood. And your traces are there for several years!
Lighting fire is allowed ins Switzerland as long as it is not a protected zone and there is no fire ban ... So that won't be a reason why camping would be banned, since a camping ban would not affect the fire situation
Nice video! But the fire making part, sorry that's a no-go. You talk about pure nature and "never ever leave thrash behind", but by making fire you're actually one of those that will lead to strictly forbidding wild camping in even more areas.
Hmmm.. you're not the first one to point this out. What exactly is the problem with making a small fire like this? In many parts of the world natural fires are an essential part of the ecosystem, like with the bush fires in Africa. So I think nature can cope quite well with fires in the long term. For me it's one of the most natural things to cook over the fire. What would you suggest, would it be better to bring a gas cooker next time?
Hello @@TheMegaMatt! Some sort of cooker would be the preferable option. I also enjoy a nice fire to seat around, but this should be done only on designated areas (at least in the alps and other natural areas in Europe). It's part of the "leave no trace" mentality . lnt.org/why/7-principles/
@@TheMegaMatt Hey I really loved your video but I was thinking the same thing as @crekev pointead out. In my opinion making a fire "violates" the rule "no trace" because it's very easy to identify where a fire was done. But the rules are so unclear and uncertain? like how to you sharply define a tree line? and also how do i find the owner of the land to seek permission? can you suggest some places where i can do this? or some reddit group or any community resource?
Hi Saurabh, yes the rules are a bit vague. But it's more a common sense thing and about respecting nature and landowners. You will see when you are above the tree line, and if you are in a remote location away from housings, barns and grazing cattle, you usually don't have to worry too much about permission of the land owner. I usually look for suitable spots on Google Maps and Maps of Switzerland, which even shows zones where it is strictly forbidden to wildcamp. The search is part of the exploring experience. I wouldn't know of any groups or community but I am sure you can find something on google. Otherwise a very cool way to explore Swiss Mountains is visiting any of the SAC cabins: www.sac-cas.ch/de/huetten-und-touren/sac-huetten/ It's basic and rustic for an affordable price.
