So, it's not the same thing, but something like that happened to a person in Arknights. They saved for over a year and a half for a character, Kal'stit, and got her on the first free single pull on her release banner.
I don't have any of the season 1 to season 4 EGOs but I still got Outis' Charge EGO during her extraction banner. So it doesn't really matter if you get a lot of EGOs if you could just pull on the banner since the percentage is boosted.
I'm not saying it doesn't change, but the change is so small that it's not significant. I've seen a streamer get duplicate Jack and Pierre announcer packs from a Walpurgis Night extraction banner.
And the fact that we don't get duplicate EGOs is nice, so for new players, they don't need to force themselves to shard EGOs that they won't probably use much.

Literally no clue what the landscape of the game’s meta will be a year later, but I’ve myself fine with missing out on some of the EGOs. The most important part of a team is usually the IDs, while egos are additions to make the team slightly better. Which is why I kinda don’t put much importance on EGOs, and I feel like even a year later it’ll be the same case still.

Puling 330 times and trying to get 10 or more pull is less than 2 percent, so it's reasonable to stop here. Using Binominal probability, the chance of pulling 4 to 10 egos on 330 tries is 62%. Its funny, I was lowballing even more considering I was only accounting for MD lunacy, but even with my lowballing its enough to guarantee a pity pull and almost halfway buildup for a second pity. That is also assuming your luck is dogwater and you don't get anything with all that pulling. The important thing being having all available EGOs prior to the collab to maximize your chances (excluding Walpipi and 'previous' season [for now]).

The main source is Mirror Dungeons (750 lunacy weekly from first 3 normal MDs or first 1 hard MD) and compensations from weekly maintenance (300 lunacy, sometimes more if devs find any serious bugs to fix) In summary, 1050 lunacy every week basically. In this regard, there is not much difference whether you are a new player or an old one. Plus limited-time events dedicated to new Intervallos and Walpurgis Nights, but more often there are just tickets for extraction (They're all the same as lunacy, but only for extractions) Plus there is additional rewards and compensations, that comes after developer streams and major updates, as well as some significant dates (New Year, all sorts of anniversaries) And there are also Lines, but I'm mentioning them last, 'cause every one of them is just one-time very hard challenge, with significant, but also one-time, rewards.
Someone also suggested sharding as many ego as possible that you can get from gacha so when you pull one it is guaranteed to be a new one since you can’t roll multiple of the same ego
With some luck (a lot of luck), people will reallize how bad of a precedent this is and they will give a lot of backlash for it instead of letting the hype get over them, if they indeed end up being limited and not shardable.
