I'll never forget day 1 of my philosophy class, my professor told us how his friend (another professor at a different school) went down such a deep path of philosophy that he ended up taking his own life. He never mentioned what he got into specifically, or whether he was dealing with mental illness, but it's trippy shit to get into. Solipsism especially.

Nice iceberg, there is definitely something to ignorance is bliss. Existence haunts me at times and I’ve delved down every one of these ideas or questions. An outsider might look at me, aimlessly wondering and perhaps even torturing myself and then compare me to someone with a cognitive impairment who is just happy go lucky. Who has it better off mentally really? I’d never wish for my intellect to go away but sometimes it really is better just not knowing. I’m sure people much smarter than me might look at me the same way.
this was such a thought provoking video i had too load up my phone too comment, you’ve earned the following of my laptop and phone, such an incredible video its vividly wild and honestly so unbelievably interesting it was hard too tell myself too go sleep and finish the video tomorrow, I’ve been quite fond of philosophy and have chosen too continue it at college after i finish high school, I’ve done lots of research into solipsism, nihlism, sonder and stoicism but no research has had me as baffled and intruiged as any single second in this video, incredible.
A few geniuine tips for future videos: 1) Go a bit slower, to make sure you don’t stumble on difficult words (you’re talking fairly fast so I don’t think slowing down would make the videos feel sluggish), 2) Read through your script properly before recording so you’re really familiar with it, 3) When in doubt, look up how to pronounce certain words/names (for example ”antinatalist”, ”Sisyphus”, ”Nietzsche”). You’re tackling a lot of tricky words, so it’s understandable you’re not familiar with their pronounciations, just do a quick google before recording. Keep up the good work!

regarding the fermi paradox, I've always struggled to see it as a paradox at all. consider this hypothetical situation: you are placed at a random point in the yellowstone national park, and your friend may or may not be placed at random as well, but you're not told if he is or isn't. neither of you know if you're alone or if your friend is out there. whether he's part of the experiment or not, you're tasked with trying to find each other with minimal supplies. you could be on the face of one mountain looking across a valley to another mountain. even if your friend is on the face of that mountain, you may flail your arms or wave a blanket or whatever it might be, but the odds of you noticing him, him noticing you, or (much less) you both noticing each other, are abysmally low. you might. but before all odds, you could spend forever waving your arms out into the open without ever coming into contact with each other. I think that's less of a paradox and more of a lack of proper resources or positioning that would allow for contact at all.

Hey @snook , wanted to throw you some advice to help your channel grow, but you gotta overcome the following if you want to be taken with credence and respect. Ok so, as a viewer, I feel milked by what feels like low effort research and regurgitated scripts by another author that you just rip. I think this is because of your speech, it seems confused and makes it sound like you don't even understand the content you're even presenting, let alone fact checked it. I recommend writing your own script and read it over while you research the actual material, and look up words and concepts you cant pronounce or dont know. It's really hard to trust your content, and that's fine for entertainment, but it appears you're trying to come across as educational. Best of luck to you bro ❤
uh about the existence of existence question. I get constant nightmares about losing my consciousness through death and stuff, but regardless keep watching philosophy stuff anyway. And what calms me is something I acquired from trying to write books and read Nietzsche. Existence is one big beautiful book. You are the main character of your stage, sure we are tiny, but not according to our eyes. I have decided that at the end of the day trust in whoever or whatever this author is. It has already given us such a beautiful experience, whatever comes are way, I'm just going to have to trust them and play my roll like a pro. Edit: just realized I didn't really answer the question and made a mighty long post, sorry.
The point of life is to spread life. The more we succeed as a species the more me can help other species thrive. The more we can help other species thrive the more we can make our entire plant thrive. The more the species on our plant thrives (including humans) the more the species on our plant will be able to help spread life to other empty planets. The point of life is to spread the gift of live as far across the emptiness of the cosmos’s as one can.

Philosophical questions stem from the sort of questions that we can wonder about; we can think about producing something, about doing something or about what thinking itself or about nature.
Carpenter thinks about producing or making a chair, engineer about something else, builder about building, etc. this isn't called philosophy but art or carft.
We think about what to do and this is different from the thinking about making something( the latter has a product that is in the end of the thought, but the former has an mastered action at the end), such as taking care of our loved ones and this is economic philosophy( because we mainly have to earn money and spend it well. "Economic" in ancient Greek means "household economic"), and taking care of the civil society and this is political philosophy. All these kinds of thought have an ethical aspect to them, and are called moral philosophy.
We also think about thinking itself in logic where we consider whether a concept is applicable ( predicable) to something or not, as dog is not applicable to Socrates( as we don't say, "Socates is a dog") but man is( as we say, "Socates is a man"). The signs of concepts, like noun and verb and everything in grammar are also included here.
The last part studies nature and this can be studied in many ways. All these divisions of philosophy express the order in one way or the other. Natural philosophy the order of nature, logical philosophy order among concpetions and moral philosophy order among action as they stand to some good. Question can be resolved but it takes too much time and effort..
was coming to makr this exact comment, some of the pronounciations are just so offputting. It takes you out of the immersion of the explanation and makes you feel like hes just reading a script he didn't write

Watching this before studying philosophy, I'll prob watch the philosophy iceberg too before studying! Might even recommend those 2 vids to my teacher cuz this is really interesting!
same except it was logic which has almost nothing to do with the stuff in this video lol
This is your best video yet! Keep up the great work!
Finally a good Iceberg again! Great video!
Such an underrated content creator great background noise and very interesting topics love your videos i just had to subscribe
One must imagine Snook covering icebergs
Aside from the mispronouncations and slurring your words this video was great!
It’s because he’s reading off the AI generated responses
this was such a thought provoking video i had too load up my phone too comment, you’ve earned the following of my laptop and phone, such an incredible video its vividly wild and honestly so unbelievably interesting it was hard too tell myself too go sleep and finish the video tomorrow, I’ve been quite fond of philosophy and have chosen too continue it at college after i finish high school, I’ve done lots of research into solipsism, nihlism, sonder and stoicism but no research has had me as baffled and intruiged as any single second in this video, incredible.

I have no clue how this only gets 9000 view, you should get a lot more, your work is amazing!
It's at, what, 30k right now? For being out less than 24 hours, that's pretty impressive! I bet he will end up with a few hundred thousand a few months down the line. He deserves it!

Snook once again killing the game with these icebergs! 100k soon!
All of your videos are creating some really insane dreams recently dude, love your channel.
I love when this happens 😂 but I gotta be careful sometimes or I have pretty much a nightmare
Crazy where the mid goes right? One of @Snook_YT 's video about space gave me a nightmare about liminal spaces... on other planets. There are no words. It was more fascinating than scary but I've never had a dream like that :) @@abigailmartinez9843
A little mistake in the "Mandela Effect" explanation, Nelson Mandela wasn't president of South America, he was the president of South Africa 🇿🇦

Honestly when I heard you say you wanted to hit 100k by the end of the year I kinda thought, "that's wishful thinking," but then I saw that this video came out 2 weeks ago and you've already gotten 15k more... I'm really rooting for you on this one.
This topic is kinda niche, the whole video is niche too. But those existential crisis and philosophy videos did so well, so I get it

I really love your videos and the topics you choose. If you are open to constructive feedback, please, please, please slow down just a little bit. Don't be afraid to take your time. If you stumble on a sentence, just stop and take a breath and read it again. You can edit out all the slip ups. And also, please take a moment to look up how to pronounce things if you're not sure. You say Nietzsche often enough to say it right. It's like NEE-chuh (emphasis on the first syllable.) It's distracting when you make this mistakes over and over. I just want to be able to listen to what you're saying without getting distracted because I love your content! You're doing a great job!
I noticed the same thing with him saying baskilisk. It's not a big mistake and it doesn't take away from the video as a whole but it is a bit distracting
regarding the fermi paradox, I've always struggled to see it as a paradox at all.
consider this hypothetical situation:
you are placed at a random point in the yellowstone national park, and your friend may or may not be placed at random as well, but you're not told if he is or isn't. neither of you know if you're alone or if your friend is out there. whether he's part of the experiment or not, you're tasked with trying to find each other with minimal supplies. you could be on the face of one mountain looking across a valley to another mountain. even if your friend is on the face of that mountain, you may flail your arms or wave a blanket or whatever it might be, but the odds of you noticing him, him noticing you, or (much less) you both noticing each other, are abysmally low. you might. but before all odds, you could spend forever waving your arms out into the open without ever coming into contact with each other.
I think that's less of a paradox and more of a lack of proper resources or positioning that would allow for contact at all.
I think the consciousness part of the iceberg refers to the philosophy of mind and the hard problem of consciousness.
Yeah, I think he just mistook consciousness for conscience
The existence of existence is likely just preserving homeostasis.
i feel like the meaning of life is countin these stacks of blue cheese while im puffin on the highest grade of biscotti💯✍🏾

Sparkling job playboy. I love icebergs even though I dig the rocks. Many philosophical issues for me with digging rocks

The iceberg of being boofed out of your mind with your friend and you ask all of those, "yo...bro? You ever think about, like, stuff?"
Theyre good questions though, ones that if you dont think about them now, you will later.
I think you and I may have different definitions of "boof"
But if we don't then hey I'm not shaming, just uh, be safe - stuff that enters through the exit doesn't go through the liver and metabolize before it gets into the bloodstream.

So glad you mentioned, The Mandela Effect. I could barely remember the other 471 times I had heard of it.
And that, is my attempt at sarcasm.
😂 Touché
Isn't the point of a tier list for it to start with popular ideas and then go down to less known ones. So this sarcasm doesn't work
Afterlife and consciousness in the first tier is wild
uh about the existence of existence question.
Wowzers man this video is great.

sparkling. nice video
Crazy that humans themselves have figured this shit on their own.
I jus love falling asleep on the first entries and waking up to the more obscure entries and feel like im high😭🙏🏻
Nelson mandela former south AMERICAN president 😭😭😭🙏
I thought to myself, hell I can't be the only one that realised this mistake😂 Love from SA
Watching this video is just a reminder, more specifically towards the idea of knowing less, having a simple, or accepting that there is no answer to "that question" (you have the freedom of choosing) may be more beneficial in the long run.
But,
At the same time I'm not going to lie, it's intriguing.
Complex topics are broken down so easily. Everything is made so understandable.
This is clearly a Chat GPT video. It amazes me that he has gotten this far. I presume he does have some knowledge of these philosophical ideologies, but it is obvious that he is circumventing the time and effort required to create a well-thought-out monologue for these videos through Chat GPT. Sad.
Yeah I noticed not even 2 and a half minutes in
I don t think this matters, even if the text is from ChatGPT,Wikipedia etc this is a real good video, you can t write a script like this on your own it will take days and plus it even if you do it won t be original because he will most likely insert his own ideas.✌🏻😛😜
Oh don't you worry about me questioning my life I do that like every day
Just subbed bro 🔥 keep going man your vids are fire
Great vid man. Usually don't comment on corrections but Mandela was a South African president
this video made me fall asleep

Exactly what I thought
Before I read this I just thought he was nervous but this makes much more sense. Hopefully we’re wrong though because that would suck.
