Cheslin Kolbe vs All Blacks | The Rugby Championship 2023

  • There was not really much to talk about regarding Springbok players who performed, but Cheslin was certainly one of the very few that put his hand up and had an amazing performance. He has that one slip up with the poor tackle on Shannon Frizell, but after that he was back to his best and was great with hand in ball and great on defence. He should've had 2 tries but one of them got overturned by a poor TMO decision who deemed him knocking the ball on despite his hands going downwards. But regardless, he still had an amazing game. His try he scored in the game was a great one. The pass was a bit questionable but it looked great especially with how Cheslin finished at the end with his spectacular dive.
It was a good performance and definitely shows Cheslin is as good as ever despite his injury earlier this year at his French club.

Seriously. Lots of SA rugby fans need a reality check. The ref's don't help the AB's any more than they do the Bok's. The ref's are of a poor quality for many years granted. There is no conspiracy that the IRB favours any Sth hemp team and certainly not the AB's. SA were beaten. Their first two tries - truck and trailer and a forward pass. That's the poor officiating.

Let's be honest, the ABs blew us out of the water for the first 25 minutes. Might have been better with Lobbock starting - shame that Pollard isn't available; we missed a general at No.10. We just didn't contest at the breakdowns, which basically were a free for all. We were equaled in the set piece and destroyed under the high balls. The ABs were simply on another level for the first 25 minutes - we were sleep-walking, slipping tackles etc. Next time, we need to possibly start with Marx, PSDT, Thor??

Why is it that always NewZealand always wins with the help of referee when they play the mighty springboks? why can't be a 50/50? There is always a lot of offsides by NewZealand on the breakdowns and they go unpunished? they had prepared for weeks in advance for this R.C campaign, they gambled and sent there best players to NZ a week early so they could climatize and adapt to conditions, free from jetlag, they were mentally and physically fresh
they had an opportunity to close and win the R.C and push themselves as the top S.H nation heading into the W.C and win the freedom cup for the first time since 2010
S.A got caught out and overwhelmed by NZ early, they underestimated NZ and paid the price

The first attempt for his try, where I believe he knocks it on - that is a 50/50 call that went in favor of the All Blacks.
The actual try he scored in the corner, that was a line ball, super flat. Might have been marginally backwards or forward. Once again, a 50/50 call that went in favor of South Africa.
Towards the end of the game, where he makes the break down the side line, that was simply due to a tipping error (Nothing outstanding). The ball fell into his hands, and he had a clear run to the line. The only decent thing he did in that passage of play, was the step he put on Richie Mounga.
Easily South Africa's best winger, way better than Arendse and Mapimpi - but not the best in the world like people claim.

But I do agree with Kolbe not being the best winger, I believe Will Jordan is more dangerous with ball in hand and edges him out on most attacking attributes other than agility, Kolbe does compensate on the defensive end offering better defense than Jordan tho. I would like to say Jordan is the best winger in the world, scores tries for fun and has an attacking instinct similar to that of Christian Cullen. Suberb player he is!
